I just got this game for Neo CD, the loading time is horrible,(has to load every round). Does anybody think I should get the home cart.

What is the difference between KOF Evolution for DC and the homecart/neo cd versions? I have both, but they look the same to me? I can't tell..................

I use to own a neo cd and the loading times virtually put me off playing neo geo for a couple of years, games like savage reign just load forever and with the kof games, every round as you say, even if you only have to finish a person of with 2 hits it still loads in the next character.if you have a homecart then get it for that,if not get a mvs as the games are even cheaper.I must admit games like shodown 2 and fatal fury special take no time at all to load but believe me it ruins your enjoyment when you are just getting into the swing of things with kof and it keeps stopping and loading up,I think in one of the kof games it even loaded in each win screen too.!!

If you don't mind paying $150+ for a slightly used King of Fighters '99 home cart, then get one (of course, you're going to need the home cart system as well). You could get the Neo-Geo CDZ (which greatly reduces CD loading times), but I doubt you'd want to pay between $250 (used) to $400+ (new) for one.

There aren't that many differences between KOF 99 and KOF Evolution; KOF Evolution simply has more Strikers (as well as the ability to play as Krizalid), but aside from that (as well as much shorter loading times), it's no different from KOF 99.

If you don't have the money for the Neo cart version, the DC game (KOF Evolution) is definately the way to go. It's a very good game in terms of a port.

If you don't have the Neo cart or DC, the PSX port is surprisingly good as well.

Hmm, short answer: If you can't stand the load times, and you can afford the home/MVS cart, buy it. Personally I have no problems with load times whatsoever. KoF99 load times bad? Try LB/LB2 CD <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

KoF99 DC really is a very good port, which loads quickly and costs much less. It's not a 100% accurate KoF99 (compared to the real thing), tho. I played it back and forth and must say it rocks anyway. There are also some additional intros for every stage, quite nice.
