Maybe I'm duhh'ing it up here but I have a question.

As far as the ongoing KoF storyline goes, how do the endings factor in? Each team has an ending each year when they win the tournament. Now as far as what happens storywise, is it that the winning teams ending only occurs or is it that (somehow) all the endings occur? Logically one would think that only the winning team would under go the circumstances that unfold after their final victory. The other teams and characters would have fates different than that of their respective victorious finales (ie. more training, go on a depression fueled bender or something..).

If that is the case, then certain characters could still be alive. Storywise, Goenitz was defeated by Kyo, Iori, and Chizuru (I think... if that story FAQ is correct). So if they won that tournament then the Iori, Vice, and Mature team DIDN'T win, which would mean that ending didn't occur. So if Iori didn't kill them in the Riot of Blood then they should technically be alive somewhere. Now I believe the NFT sacrificed themselves to raise Orochi so their fate is more central then the individual endings. But since the individual endings are based on victory then most would have never occurred.

Does anybody know how this kind of paradox is handled storywise? If so, please fill me in.

Well for myself the endings are improtant as it shows the importance as a whole of the character and thier place in the game next year. Like the characters that I hate I hope take them out really! Like Chang

The actual events that happen in each ending DO occur, its just the "We won the tornament!" parts that don't.... For example in Kof99. All of the endings happen (K' and Maxima escaping from NESTS, Whip saying goodbye to Krizalid, Bao going into a coma, and Kim allowing Choi to be trained by Jhun) And where Goenitz is concerned he dies in ALL of the endings anyway, even his own! So I guess he's screwed from the start.... Hope that cleared some things up for you :)

The only part that was always bogus was that everyone seem to think that the Yashiro, Shermie and Chris HAD to die for Orochi's resurrection. Even though, Yamazaki is still alive. If the NFT had to die to bring back Orochi, then Yamazaki should have died as well.

Ryoga:

I don't agree with the correlation you're making. The NFT sacrificed themselves to give Orochi that last boost of energy to awaken at last. Since Chris transformed into Orochi, when Orochi went to sleep again so did the body that used to be Chris's.

Yamazaki never made himself a part of the sacrifice so he continues to live, plot and scheme. And Iori, who was also possessed by the blood, is still around too. So I don't think having a tie to Orochi necessarily meant having to die when he went away.

Yeah, keep in mind that there is no set fate, otherwise Iori, Yamazaki, Guidel, and Leona would have awakened Orochi by sacrificing themselves in 1996 <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

Gaidel was Leona's dad and one of the Hakkeshu. Goenitz killed him for betraying the Orochi clan

Well to be more accurate, Goenitz made Leona kill him along with the rest of her family
