First day with my AES. If I had known it was this good I would have bought one years ago. I can't believe the difference between the dreamcast port of 98 and the real thing. What an amazing game....

Hey "RBjakeSpecial" you should pass these KoF-Series on DC, nice 3D-Backgrounds...but that´s the only positive point!!!
If you´ve an AES, buy yourself an AoF²[cheap], a FFS[cheaper than AoF²] and of course "KoF98"!!!
FOR THAT PRiCE, AROUND $120,00 JPN/ $165,00 US, iTS THE BEST FiGHTER ON NEO!!!

Fran, if you allow me, let me say KOF 99 on DC is very interesting. There are more strikers, more characters to select, 3D backgrounds et cetera... Of course, it is NOT a Neo GEo gameplay, but it still has some guts and nice gameplay too, on the DC.
But I prefer playing the 99 on my fucked up AES, for sure!

and same goes for me
i think the 98 and 99 ports are shit mainly cos the gameplay is completely different ( read "its a lot worse )
so the extra strikers,the new flashy intro,and the 3d bgs mean absolutely nothing
the games are not like the originals
many combos dont work and stuff like that
and somehow,they even seem....dunno...they look shitty
i mean the sprites,the resolution and so on...
cant explain
theres something wrong
bottom line,bad ports
nothing like the originals

WOW, Ive been playing 98 more and your all right, the gameplay is a million times better, theres more animation and the backgrounds look better in their 2d original state. Im thourouly impressed.

Im so blown away by the AES system so far... is art of fighting 2 really worth getting? I played it a while ago and didnt like it, maybe i should buy it and try it again.

Fucked up - I explain.
The AES I use the most is numbered 018327, the one in my sig. It's totally fucked up. Looks like it's going to fall apart every second. Actually, it works oh so fine, I'd say it works as fine as when I first took it out of the box!
I used fucked up because it looks ruined but stands the passing of time in an astonishing manner.
I love my AES, really. I have two other AES including one that doesn't work anymore. Condensator problem, I think. Plus a Neo Geo CDZ.

I never even touch my DC any more , I always thought some thing was wrong with those ports .
I think the same with the playstation ports . I remember in 95 the characters would jump higher than the original neo version .

Could someone give me an example of how the DC versions of 98 and 99 are SOOOOOO different. Combos that dont work? Animation missing? Completley different game and gameplay. I have been playing KOF religously since it came out and 98 has been the one I have continued to play since it came out on a constant basis. I haven't noticed a damn thing thats significantly different. I think the intro in 98 is freakin amazing and the new strikers are fun in 99. Along with redone backrounds and some new stages in 99, I think these ports rule. I dont know, call me stupid....... :o

Ok, I've been playing kof forever as well and I own the DC versions and the all the saturn versions. The AES versions are a lot better, the difference is amazing. Every department is improved, the music, graphics, speed. Overall the aes version feels just more robust. I personally (and again this is my own opinion) that the gameplay is signifigantly different enough in the AES version to make it a whole lot better than the DC port.
