It's KOF '99 with Vanessa and Seth and strikers, yes. It also has the same kind of 3D backgrounds as Dream Match '99 for the DC had (so it has a version of the outdoors park, a 3D version of the museum, and best of all, a 3D brown sewer).

If you love KOF '99, get it. Otherwise, I'd recommend Dream Match '99 (which is a port of KOF '98, as I'm sure you know) instead.

The difference is huge. All the backgrounds are done in 3d and they come to life unlike the arcade 2d backgrounds. In the aeroplane stage, the plane could take off and you can hear that supersonic sound of that plane. It looks awesome seeing the plane take off. There are some new stages such as the 2 different versions of the theme park stages which IMO is very well done. There are also other new stages. And krizalid's stage has that energy wave at the back exploding with a bang which looks and sounds very cool. All the stages are redone. The gameplay remains true to the arcade version. And the kof 2k characters(seth and vanessa)can't be played. They are just extra strikers. There are a whole lot of extra strikers too.Very cool port by snk and also their best non-neo port ever.Get the game!!!!!

Of course, it's a port of one of the worst KOF games made too. You take the good with the bad. Why couldn't they do this well with 98?

No kidding! I have both the kofs for the dreamcast. Its too bad the characters are so small in 98 and the music stops, otherwise it would be awsome! Kof99 for DC is an extremely good port, the backgrounds interface and gameplay are fun (although I agree with spike, probably not the best in the series cause it doesn't have that dope SNK feel.)

yeah SNK teases you with the all the dope ass strikers and then you never get to play any of them. I wish Yamazaki wasn't a striker in there, it just makes me wish they put em in the game. He'd fit sooooo well in the kof99 dark feel.
