Sorry to say, but the Hawaii Kof Scene is now dead.

The only place in Hawaii that has a nice KoF machine is called Hawaiian Brian's Billiards. As of late, the machine has been broken, and it looks as if, this time they are not going to fix.
What someone had told me is that the D button hasn't been functioning right recently. That was the same problem that the machine had the last time I went, which was tuesday. I had asked the game technician if he could look into it. But he didn't. This isn't the first time he has ignored the needs of the customers. I have never seen any other repair person maintaining the machines, so I presume he is the only one.
Since there is no other place where people can comfortably challenge somebody to a game of KoF, the last resort is that everyone stop playing. Many of the players would like to challenge each other for old times sake, but with the machine broken, the guys don't wanna play a good old school, game.
Sad, just sad. A game that brought together almost forty or fifty people from all walks of life, has been descretated to a game where people lean their skateboards and bags against.

Damn that sucks. I remember when the craze around in my local arcade for like a day was Rockman: The Power Fighters (2nd megaman arcade game) and 2 days after the arcade had set it up it broke and they never bothered to fix it. I think then someone bought it because it was never put with the other un-used games in the storage room.

I think the arcade scene in general is dying. I remember years back when there would be lost of people around the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat machines. Now even with the newer fighting games there are not that many people that go to the arcades anymore! Don't know why.

its dying cause of the home versions of the games.Back in the old-school days arcade conversions would take a year for the game to come out on the home system. Then it got to be 6 months then 3 months and now its at the same time. But the problem is the home versions have more stuff in it(endings, new charecters,etc.).So kids would rather buy the home version then waste their time at the arcade playing the infereior version.Thats whats been going down lately. The arcade business has been losing alot of money cause of this.Sad isnt it?

This is why they need to start innovating again!! Pretty soon no one will go out to play games but will just play on the internet all day. While this would be nice I like the whole real-time factor better. If only the dam/\/ed developers would spend more time attracting people than grounding them it would be more sucessful.

Thanks guys, I believe that collectively we are all correct.
PJ, to the best of my knowledge, Hawaii has never had the Megaman arcade game. I have never seen a Last Blade game{I've seen it only through emulation}, or Street Fighter EX3.
We have this one arcade, and whatever they bring in, that's what we play. If someone opens up an arcade they immediately get competitive and try to get rid of them. Since they are the only arcade place{even though they are losing thousands and thousands of dollars every month} they have the ability to dictate what games we play. Most of us, have gotten sick of this. Most of the better players don't come anymore, because they don't come at the same time.

Amen, not nearly as many people go there.
Back in the day, it was loaded, capcom and snk can barely stand on there heals these days in the arcade scene, ALTHOUGH kof 2k is popular as hell while sf 3 third strike sits.
The sad thing is capcom has the marketing power to work with the home market, in which SNK does not have that power. as there main strength is in shooters amnd fighters.
Almost all there different home marketed games have got the boot, cool cool toon for example.
They do not sell, sad but true.

I couldn't agree more. People used to spend a lot of time in the arcade back in the olden days because the games would not go out for a while to the home systems. And back then SF2 was on the SNES which was still far from an arcade port so the arcade still had some aura of mysticism back then.

Godfather Jeff has lost all the power that was given to him. The crew you belong to, doesn't come either. Qadhafi James said that Io is busy ar work. The only person who challenges me is Jeff. Even the irritating {cheating pattern, infinite using} guys don't come anymore, Well you know what happened to Mori-zaki. The Chinese guys go looking for "chicks" in Waikiki, The guys that come down from the other side of the island said that since no one is playing, they feel that driving for an hour isn't worth it anymore.
Most of us guys, are going back to school, and looking for jobs.

The arcade scene isn't dying, it just depends if theres players in your area, and some place to play. I mean most arcades aren't gonna carry games that don't make cash, unless it's a fan arcade, or a fighter arcade.

And everytime I go to an arcade that has a Neo machine with Samurai 4, or a KOF in it, no ones ever playing it, their all on Tekken, or MvC 2 ect.

You have to realize the Neo is a fanatic system, not mainstream You can't blame arcade ops for not having Neo mahcines, because if I was an op, and my neo machines were making jack for me, they'd be gone really fast, and replaced with a machine that makes $.

That is so true Drift King Ex, but our KoF machine makes the most money of any game, and people play it, even when it's broken, people don't want to drive an hour to go right home. The machine has been broken for a week now. But it is played way more than any of the other games. Yet they bring in games that don't make money. Without repairing their money maker first. Strange philosophy.
One of the reasons some people don't play MVC2 instead, is because of one guy, who does the gambit thing, and the frozen game thing. Doing this over and over, often prompts the attendant to think about turning off the game til the technician can take a look at it. Even though nothing is wrong with it. They might put a sign saying "this game is not functioning properly."
I think I've said this before, it's all about economics.

Well than thats just the arcade ops being lazy and cheap

Either that or they don't know their broken, and the owner of the place their at hasn't said anything.

Keep complaining, and they'll fix it.

Really Godfather Jeff has lost his powers oh wow. He must have done something then to have warranted that when I left like how you put it he was the shark there.

The shark dies when there is no more food. Even after all, Jeff has done to bring people in to spend their money. When people run out of money, or lose interest, the very thing that feeds him will be the thing that makes him suffer the most.
Unless if he can find a new niche. He will fade into the powerless people ranks again. His demise is already evident.

Most of the money he spends is the very money that is won through gambling in pool, which wasn't originally his. And the remaining portion is fund through his parents.
