How do YOU pull off combos and special moves?

How do you guys pull off all of those special moves and combos? Do you push the exact buttons you need to pull off the moves, or do you just mash all the buttons like a madman (like me)?

I don't just mash buttons. I experiment with certain chains and links and you figure out what works well. Mashing buttons will only get you so far. After a while the CPU will destroy you!

I just see if certain moves can be cancelled or not, I experiment and then once I find a good damaging but yet not too hard combo I'll use it.

I pretend I know what I'm doing. Then it works, somehow. Strangely I can play better with one hand then I do with two. I press all the relevant buttons, like if the combo is done with kick, I press all the kick buttons.
Playing on both sides with one hand each, does make for an interesting match. I am trying to impersonate Piccolo from DBZ. If I could, then I'd be twice the asshole I am.
