Well, some of my friends don't totally love/dislike KOF because of its extreme complexity.

They are right in a way though, since i can't think of any fighters that are more complex than it out there.

KOF2000 graphics in my opinion, are superb, so smoothly animated and very colorful.

The gameplay is what really makes the game shine, because it's so complex, yet at the same time, somewhat simple.

I also disagree with people who say it plays too slow, since i think it plays much faster than any street fighter.

It's just pure fighting at its most complex.

Exactly what i wanted, exactly what i paid for

What about you?

A number of my friends, who played street fighter 2, don't seem to be able to adapt to the newer kof's. I still to this day, play every fighting game like street fighter 2.
The concept of all these strikers and assists{MVC2} leaves them with a hanging jaw. Most of my friends who watch the combos that people do now, can't believe how nice they look and how much the world of gaming has evolved to the changing needs of players.
I guess some people just move on to other things. Or come to a realization that they can no longer enjoy the game because they do not understand to the fullest extent of what they are playing.

i have some friends who hate kof and snk games in general.if asked why, they would say the graphics are boring,outdated...blah,blah..and all those crap.most of those ignorants seem to focuse exclusively on the graphics part. And they also said that tekken tag's graphics are more lifelike than kof, which is true but they don't seem to realise that kof is all about gameplay and not graphics.Even kof 99 evolution on dc which has awesome graphics don't seem to exite them.they seem to favour capcom's fighters and 3d fighters more.

KoF99, apart from Garou MOTW, more and more becomes my favourite fighter. You already stated why: Complex yet smooth gameplay, superb fx/gfx and hard but fair. Cool.

Apart from my 11-years-old nephew none of my friends particularly likes the KoF series or any other 2D SNK fighter, mainly because of their, I quote, "weird moves and jerky two dimensions". They all sit in front of their PS2's and bore themselves to death with their 3D adventurial gaga...

N.B. I don't think that KoF is any faster than Street Fighter, at least not if you compare any part of KoF with SF2CE or SF2Turbo.

2. The local arcade is smoke filled
3. They think its retro a 2d fighter
4. There are a lot of fobs
5. Its too violent so when we play when for example you do the Maiden Masher SDM we scream stop the violence.

My friends hates KOF just because I said that SNK is much better than Crapcom and just because I said KOF 98 is much better than SF Alpha 3

If my friends dare to say the name of SNK in vain, I start beating up their sorry asses with a pinata stick until I get tired of hearing them scream.

Reminds me of something I saw in a game store. A kid was asking about the prices of games, and I said that most PS games are $30-40, but there are some $10 games, but those ones generally suck. His reply? You guessed it, "What, they're 2D?"

But I think the best remark I heard about a NG game was from my brother when he saw Robert Garcia in AoF2: "[Steven] Seagal!"

but some of my friends are really into it, like Facemaster and MiniGenjuro. Mini's pretty good, and he respects the game's deepness. he also doesn't get sick of it when he loses (i hate people like that). Facemaster likes the game a lot. it's just too bad he isn't as good as Mini. he'll get better. i'll make sure of it

Not a lot of people are into the Neo Geo to begin with in the general population.

All of Hawaii guys, know why some certain "master" quit don't we. When we were are trying to have fun, and playing random characters, this "expert" would pick his team. He claimed that our style of playing wasn't fun. We played the way, he deemed fun. By playing aggresively and winning, at all costs. Well, what this "master" didn't know is, that everybody can play his way, and everyone did. We obviously outnumbered him, so in the end he lost.
Realizinh that he was no match technically, he quit. He lost the will to play all video games. My equals and I, decided that beating him{with his style} with relative ease wasn't fun anymore, so went back, to how we were playing, and still beat him.
I'm not saying that he must play our style, just don't get pissed off when we beat you when we play your style.
And that is why, this expert hates KoF.

Hey:

Anyone I have ever talked to who voiced some problem with the KOF series always mentions the same thing: the graphics are basically the same with every installment. They always say that the fighters have never "changed" the way Street Fighter characters have. And do some degree, this is true: compare SF2 Dash to SFZ, and then compare KOF '94 to KOF '99. Also, a lot of guys say that memorizing KOF characters moves is too hard simply because of the sheer number that they have.

But now that I think about it, I meet more people who have never even heard of KOF than people who have played. Fatal Fury gets more name recognition, for some reason.

But between Street Fighter and KOF, I've always looked at it as separating the men from the boys. I love SF, but I always have and always will prefer KOF. You don't get as many lamers and idiots playing KOF.

Yes you are right Sakuraba, but I have got to tell you something funny.
One guy who most people despise in our gameroom,{for calling people cheaters, when it is the very one who is cheating} tried to launcher a guy in KoF. He played Ryo, then did a down c, and tried to jump after the guy, eveyone started to laugh. He kept trying to launch people with ryo, kyo and and tkauma{i think}.
down c, then jump after an opponent. I told him the game just doesn't work that way, he told me to shut up. And he kept trying to launch people, until he gave up and went to play Third strike.

All my friends are into the craptastic PS2's fighting games. I honestly don't understand these people, I mean why the hell is 3d any better than 2d?? It's not that big of a difference as long as its a satisifying game experience. In addition almost all the SNK games have better visuals than any 3d game. It takes talent to do 2d, 3d is just wrong in most cases. One of my friends tried to play samurai showdown and in the end got really pissed because he didn't understand how the defensive style of play is. Then theres just people who don't know how to do supers or special moves and are used to capcoms hotkey supers, (which is a very cheap thing, and also doesn't help newbies because then they don't know how to do anything else)and their stupid easy modes where you just need to jam on two buttons to do special moves and combos galore. People who fall under the above categories i have no pity because they all are too ignorant to realize how magnificent these games are!!

I had a cousin over (13 yrs old I think) and we played KoF Evo 99 on my dreamcast. I kicked his ass in no time. I wanted to teach him how to play and do special moves, etc. So we went to practice mode and he picked Iori. The bastard couldn't even do a fireball!!! He said the d-pad sucked and the moves were too hard to perform (the bastard is used to playing Smash Brothers where you just press a button to do a move.) Then he said that KoF sucked. I asked him why and he replied that it sucked because the graphics sucked. He then said that SF Ex
3 for the PS2 was a much better game, because the graphics were great. Man, I wanted to spank that bitch.
