OK, let's hear 'em.

I still haven't gotten to play this game yet, but I'm interested to hear some impressions from those of us who are lucky enough to have played.

Is K'9999 as overpowered as he looks? How about Kula and her infinite, or Mei Lei and her 74-hit link combos, or Angel and her 129-hit chains?

Also, is Goro as mean and nasty as he was in '98?

Let's hear it.

Played it about 15 times around the game centers in Shibuya. Heidern, Goro and that new Korean girl character seem to be the most strong. I got spanked the other day by a Goro player, it was embarrasing. (This game is great, can't wait for the home release!!)

I've heard that Heidern is a bastard now that he isn't a charge character anymore, but is he really that strong? Did they give his moonslasher back some of the old priority?

Also, what is the deal with Goro? Is he the same as '98, or what? Does he still have his dwn-fwd+C attack?

I know some people here have been playing 2001. Come on, let's hear it. Also, I haven't heard anything about that bastard K', or about the new-old-new non-charge Robert. Come on, you guys who have been lucky enough to play the game, fill us in.

The game is ok, but its so cheap. If your facing someone with 3 strikers and 1 fighter, your good as dead. It only takes 2 super bars to do a SDM and while the DM's hit you, the power stock keeps going up resulting in infinite super combos. Its absolutely cheap and it would be a super after a super which is really irritating. The graphics remind me of 98 and thats a good thing cause it looks more cartoonish. Play it and see what you think. Your not missing that much I would say.
Music is pretty goofy. <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />

Man, I don't know, but Im hooked to kof2k1. The music does blow a little, due to the techno-lameness themes. But I think the game overall is great, the character roster is huge, the new characters are pretty fun to play, I think its great (I was expecting eolith or whoever made it to mess it up big time) I think im in the minority but I think the new art is amazing. Totally different from what theve done before, but in a good way. The stages are so-so, the Korean snow stage is my favorite.

The charging characters (Hiedern and Robert) have been changed to non-chargers. Hiedern feels really nice, Hes always been one of my favorites since 95, now that you can pull out his moves faster he is way stronger, plus they left him his storm bringer and counter move, Hes gonna be top tier I bet. Robert feels strange to me, I got way too used to him being a charge character in 99 and 00, hes got that fruity multi-kick thing back too, I don't know what to think about him.

Some of the returning cast impressions- K' kicks ass nothing really changed, I never use Goro but hes real popular in Shibuya, Terry is awsome and feels really good,

Overall I think this game is great. I think it's amazing it turned out this well with SNK closing and stuff. I don't think it quite tops 98 though, but it comes damn close.

Really? That's some pretty good news to hear! I haven't played it yet, either (still waitin' for the local arcade to wise-up and pick it up, and i'm still savin' my pennies for the home AES release), but I decided to go to KOFonline and check out the moves list to see if anybody got anything new. From what I can tell, they improved K'... again. I'm glad; he gets a little better every year. And they finally decided to let his "Chain Driver" super hit, even if the sunglasses hit you in the air. Up until now, I thought that move was useless, except for in a combo.

Also, it looks like Kyo's got some new links to his Wild Bite combo (or whatever it's called. Me and my friends just generically call it the "Flame fist" combo). Hey, speakin' of Kyo, has anyone seen his new grab super? Can you describe it?

And once again, it looks like they eliminated supers, and left most of the characters with their "signature supers". Y'know... how hard would it be to make a fighting game where everyone has almost ALL of their moves? I mean, Capcom vs. SNK 2 did a pretty good job of it. Imagine... Kyo with the Serpent Mower, Final Showdown, 182 No style, AND this new super?? That'd be phat!!

Well, that's enough writing for now... HEY!! Polnareff, where'd you get that smooth picture of Iori?!

Whip is still one of the cheapest as characters on the games... you should have seen the flying bodies 0.o

The all brand new characters are tough (as it has been a tradition on KoF); Heidern and Kula where pretty abusing also... Ryo Sakazaki was also pretty cheap.

Goro was almost the same that in KoF '98; but the days when he was the mightyest are way over now; characters like Ramon and Seth can blow him away...

I don't know about you, but I hate Whip. She's a terrible character in every possible way. Is her high-low change-up thing more or less the same? Does she still have that annoying scream?

How could Ryo possibly be cheap? They made him incredibly dull and weak '99 and completely destroyed him in 2000. What's so good about him in 2001?

Also, how is Goro not overpowered? Does he not have his dwn-fwd+C? Shorter throw range?

You still have NeoGeo Coin-ops in arcades? In Hamburg?

Whoa, I have not seen any for 3 years in any arcade in Germany! <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> :( <img src="graemlins/help.gif" border="0" alt="[Help]" />

I hate playing other people in the arcade in KOF2k1. Everyone keeps doing the cheap infinite combos. Oh, and the guy who said what kyo's new super looks like; Kyo grabs the opponent and then a big explosion happens then Kyo starts punching the guy with fire. Reminds me of maiden masher.
Anyways, never try this move at the arcade. It is almost impossible to do. If anyone does pull this off, not by fluke, they are the best.
Angel is a cheap b*tch.

Hold on a second. Are we talking about KOF 2001 or Tekken 4? What is this invisible wall stuff?

Did they make Ralf's standing C faster again, or something?

Im not a ralf player, but his move where he goes into the air then crashes down seems to have a lot of priority. Very hard to counter, (or maybe i just suck at fighting him) Heidern is definately awsome, recently Ive seen a new trend of awsome combos with ramon. These otakus over here are pulling some crazy shit with that guy.
