If I'm not mistaken every KOF but 94 has made it home in non Cart form.

Which one made the best Transition?

For a PSone game 95 wasn't too bad.

My vote goes to 2000. As I can't stop playing it.

2000 on DC, only thing wrong is that they took out iori's back hop move, and kyo's back hop d+C, which takes out a few combos which use those moves. Apart from that it's almost perfect.

For the benefit of some peeps, here is what I consider top notch ports.

KOF 95, 96, 97 (Saturn)
KOF 99 DM (98), 99 Evo, Kof 2K, 2K1, 2K2 (Dreamcast)

The PS2 ports of 2K, 2K1, and 2K2 are as good as their DC counterparts, if not better.

Never go with PS1 ports of KOF games. The only ports worth buying on the PS1 is Metal Slug X, Real Bout Special : Dominated Mind (Tweaked RBS), and FF:Wild Ambition. That's some misc info anyway.

I need to get my hands on a Metal Slug X for PSX.

I'll say 2000 on DC, I would have said 97 on Saturn, but certain combos are missing like,

Kyo can't chain d+B to C

Same with Chris and Benimaru

EH !

You're all forgeting KOF91 for the Mega Drive! lol

What a hack!

It's fun to play as Terry there. The game could have been worse for such a crappy ack.

95 for the Saturn and 98 ( 99DM ) for the DC.

I haven't ever played 2000 on DC, it is the only one on the DC I haven't played yet. Sounds like it kicks ass. I would have to go with 99 Evolution for the DC though, that game kicks major ass, but since you have all played that too and like 2000 on DC it makes me wonder what I am missing out on.

I think the best is KoF99 Evolution for the DC(Jpn. version). I'm still undecided if it's AS good as the AES or a little better, hear me out. I own both versions and play them both, and I feel the Jpn DC version of KoF99 actually succeeds in the way it captures the feel of the original AES version of KoF99. It has the feel graphicly, and gameplay wise. It's difficult for me to find a problem w/ it. It also has 2 exclusive stages/backgrounds that are only in the DC versions(an amusement park and a clocktower), it also has different variations of the new stages and old stages(exclusive to the DC), plus a bunch of new strikers. The 3D stages/backgrounds don't look wierd or out of place(like they do in KoF2k1(PS2) and KoF99/98 DreamMatch(DC)) and work very well w/ the over all look of the game. Plus arranged soundtrack. A great port.

KoF95, Sega Saturn, is another great port. Just like the AES, very little loading and has original soundtrack just like the AES(I still prefer arranged soundtrack).

all playstation/saturn ports are real s*it
(read huge loading times, frames and win poses lost, stupid IA in psx kof 95, some gfx effect are lost like the zoom in the italy stage for example)

95 + cartridge on saturn is passable

It's a toss up between the Dreamcast 99Evo and 2k. Both of them are awesome.

Dream Match 99 would have been pretty good if the music didn't restart after each round. It's still worth playing if you're not playing in team mode, though. 2k1 was just meh to begin with. 2k2 is pretty good, but they stupidly made the volume of the music too low.

Couldn't agree more about Dreammatch 99 for DC. It has alot of potential, but the break in the music is just bad, sounds a little whiney I guess, but for me it just breaks the rhythm of the game completely. Load times are too long as well... this one was probably rushed as Evolution didn't have either of these problems. Evolution ROCKS! :buttrock:

Anyhow, wasn't there some sort of bonus with KoF 2000 for DC? Some sort of mini game that came with it? Was that any good?

EDIT: My bad that was 2001 that had that puzzle mode...

I have apreciate that in 99 EVO every team have a stage backgroud, like 94 and 95... in 2000 dc there is a gallery (shinkiro) and a sub-game like a puzzle :(

KOF99 DC> PSX
KOF95 on PSX was ok, until you get a hold of the Saturn
KOF96 and 97 on Saturn (very nicely)
KOF98 (Dream Match 99) Still one of the best ports imho

I will have to vote for KOF:Evo('99) for DC, as I haven't played anything newer than it on the DC. I bought KOF 2K/2K1 for the PS2, but sold it after I got my consolized MVS. I kept DM 1999 and KOF:E for the DC, just because it is my main platform for fighters (other than the MVS, of course).
