i juz went to videogames.com and saw a kof 2000 review.they gave it a 7.5/10 which is good unlike some sites who are 2d biased.the review is also detailed covering 2 pages.

Hey:

Yeah, I just read that a few minutes ago. I can't believe they actually reviewed it...a 7.5 is alright, but they would never have given it that high a review prior to the bankruptcy. Kind of like when EGM gave KOF Evo a nice review a few issues ago, when in the past the whole Ziff-Davis gaming corps seemed to have some major issue with KOF games.

and the learning curve is CERTAINLY not only 1 hour.

oh HELL no.

The game's graphics are superior to any kof produced before it, i don't know what this guy is smoking.

Oh well, at least it's overall positive.

another thing, this guy definitely hasn't played it for long enough.

i think you would need to play this game non stop to get it's full effect, i don't think this guy realizes how deep this game really is.

i noticed that he forgot to mention the infinites instead he mentioned that the striker attacks are improved.a sign that he didn't play too much of it.still a good review though.

NeoGML, you took the words right out of my mouth. The guy says 2000 looks worst than it's preceedors. WTF? Also the bastard says that 2000 has every character from 99. What about Xiangfei? I agree with you guys, the guy hasn't played the game long enough.

Counter and armour modes are "useless"?

The reviewer has never played against a Counter mode Benimaru user going shinkukarategomma into GeniHurricane super...
or a Armour mode Chang (unstoppable tank) or Jhun (cant knock him out of his stances very well).

How come this reviewer didnt mention anything about the striker abuse?

Learning Curve 1 hour my ass!More like months.

Also, the review isn't so much of a review, it's more of the guys personal comparison between 2000 and the previous KoFs. And it is clear the guy prefers the older KoFs. He doesn't review the game for what it is. Nevertheless, it's a fairly good review.

Gans, I'm not really sure, but in every issue of EGM or article on Videogames.com I've seen where a new KOF game was reviewed prior to the bankruptcy, the one thing they consistently bitched about was the graphics and how they were never "updated" (though I do think that is part of the reason KOF could never compete with Street Fighter), and that each edition of the game was "almost the same as last year's".

After the bankruptcy, I started seeing the Ziff-Davis gaming press talk a lot better about KOF and SNK in general, doing features on the Neo Geo, etc. To EGM's credit, they always gave the Pocket a lot of props.

I haven't read the review yet... but do you guys know who is the reviewer, Andrew Park?

Well, I think he owns all of the Neo fighers for the MVS. He also wrote pretty long FAQ's for KOF games, like Kim guide for '98. Well, I think he doesn't realize the whole potential and depth of the game entirely because I don't think there are competitions where he lives. And besides, everyone knows that KOF2k isn't all that great compared to '98.

Okay, I've read the review.

Well, it's obvious that he hadn't really played the game because CounterMode/ArmorMode/Strikers are very abusive. The only unbalanced feature in the game is of course the strikers. Furthermore, I find the three options of using three stocks, CM/AM/SDM, to be really balanced.

I agreed on every part of his review except the gameplay part.

Why is it that magazines gives KOF a low score all the time the game is friggering excellent. I think they got a bunch of wankers reviewing KOF all the time.
