OK lets make this thread pretty big. What im saying is for everyone one to posts there thoughts on kof2k1 as of right now. And then once we all play the game and become familiar with it we can see how are thoughts have changed or stayed the same. OK all start with me first.(also please bear with me. For as big of kof fan as i am i know shit for names of there moves.)

Kyo.
I think kyo has the potincial to be real cheap with all this super cancling and such.(which is that bad.as he is my fave character.) example.
r.e.d. kick if they block they eat a grab super.(yeah your fucked now.)
punch combos blocked or not grab super.
Also even though i've heard some pople say that they like the new kick at the end of the punch combo because he dosn't move foward
i think this is bad. Because you see the whole point of that move was that it moved foward so if you were out of range with the punch finnish you could hit. Though i guess its cool he can end with his running grab move now.(i always did like that move.)

It would appear as though he has his kuu sajin back. It also doesn't apear to be a charge move from what i saw in a video. he just did the kuu sajin after the foot stomp.
He also has his air super back. Intrestinly enough he started it with the down and hk after hein zan. I mean thats how the super started. Can you imagine if you could cross up with it??? Man that would be mean. I also read that kim did like a 5 hit chain combo. Since when could you do a 5 hit chain in kof?....though thats not exactly a bad thing.

I read that iroi had more options with the 3 punch combo thing.
regular top down attack finnish.
scumgale.
fireball.
oniyaki.
and dashing grab move.
though i read the madien masher was toned down as a anti air.......stupid.....though i liked the little combo cancle i saw in this one video i saw.


OK other random thoughts....angel looks like she could be pretty mean.......athena.....poor girl shes losing her hair.....what is she like 16??......what a shame.....in 2000 she was perfect.....sigh....all post some more later...but all in all I think the game looks awsome..

the backgrounds are looking much much
better than 2000,i like that 97 style with
the sing-girls.
k9999 looks like tetsuo.
angel is the new mai.
there are more than one boss that's cool.
hope there will be a homecard.

Yeah i also like the backgrounds. K9999....ummmmm.....yeah he does....though he looks to be quite the annoying character.....though pretty stupid at the same time.

According to Nari over at ON.com in one of the intermission demos K9999 and Angel supposedly kill Foxy and say since they have the strongest fighters on the station they don't need useless projects (K' and Kula.). Before they can finish off Kula, K' joins up with her and they prepare to fight K9999 and Angel. Also Whip sends Heidern a picture of herself and Kula eating ice cream on the street. I'm guessing K', Maxima, Whip, and Kula are a possible team for KOF 2002, which means Lin might take a hike after KOF2001 (I won't shed a tear.). Unless Kyo's R.E.D. can hit ducking opponents (I recall it couldn't in KOF 2000 and a ducking uppercut could easily beat the move.) I wouldn't worry to much about that SDM throw cheap. At any rate, I'll believe it when I see it.

whoa really thats pretty intresting. I think foxy looks pretty stupid anyway. though I saw a video of her and one of the supers looked pretty cool. And as for the r.e.d. kick....dammit...if this move doesn't hit crouching opponents all be pissed. I remember in 99 it did that sometimes. I want 98 kyo!

Nice. Interestingly, K9999 actually sounds like Tetsuo, as well. In fact, they got the actual voice actor who played Tetsuo to do his voice o_O'. What's next, getting Bao replaced with Astroboy or turning Athena into Sailor Moon?

The boss looks interesting. And it may be possible (at least in my opinion) that the strikers for the boss are playable as well. Think about it. At least at this point, there don't seem to be "Another Strikers," so I think it's at least feasible that there are secret chars in this game (either by dip switch or code)

Thinking about it, maybe getting the voice actor for Tetsuo was what set SNK over the edge. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek2.gif" border="0">

I really like KOF2k1. It's a lot better then KOF99. Espiecally the backgrounds look good. Gameplay wise it's similar to KOF2000 which works for me. I agree with ya that Kyo does have potiential since he can super cancel.

And I'm glad they're is more then just one boss. That K', Kula teamup is a nice idea for the next KOF. And yes Angel is the new Mai. Damn a lot of good things going for KOF2k1. ^_^

i finally played the game at my arcades yesterday.the first thing i noticed is that the speed of the game has improved a lot.but the problem is that fighters with insane poking priorities are made even more cheaper now cos of the fast pace of the game.short jumps comes in a flash.i like iori's deadly flower folloup options.iori also could now combo from his far HP unlike 99' and 2000'.kyo is definately improved.that LV3 super makes him look 'evil' and also it seems to be a modified final showdown super from kof 98.i made it to the boss but i lost.k9999 looks cool.personally i like the artwork.

That animal raping, cancerbag of a lump of flesh, Neo Rasa, once told me that K9999 was in fact meant to be a homage to Tetsuo so the similarities are all very intentional. And yes, that is the original voice actors voclas you are hearing! Pretty sweet stuff.

And I thought Bao got himslef dun killed in Kof2000 by destroying the ZERO cannon? Whats up with that. Well, at least this is one more game I can beat up on him in.

And yes, let us all hope for a home cart release. Say yer prayers.

So iori can cancle his far hp again....thats great. I hated how in the later games I would do the scumgale and then try and do a hp in to madien masher and forget that it doesn't combo. Do you know if kyo can cancle his far hp again to?

i haven't tried kyo with his far HP yet.most of my kyo combos are close up combos.many people in my arcade area are also using k9999 and daimon alot.

I didn't know about that information for Iori. Thanks Gan and I'll try it out tomorrow at the arcades.

Good thing Iori can cancel his far HP this time in KOF2k1. Most of the time when I use that in KOF2000 it didn't cancel out.

in kof 2000,after the scum gale,i usually press F+a,then either followup with a deadly flower or a maden masher.

Well, first off, that "blocked" R.E.D kick cancelled into the new grab super will not be as effective as you think... The grab super will not connect because the opponent will still be in the "blocking frames", and the opponent will not be grabbed... It is like if you tried to do Vapoor Cannon cancelled into the Maxima's Revenge (hcbx2 B/D) in 99/00, it won't work... The only way this might work is if the opponent tried to CD counter or something, then and only then will the super connect... Also, Kim performing his kuu sajin move after the foot stomp, doesn't necessarily imply that the move is not a "charge" move anymore, because you can keep holding down after you perform the foot stomp, then just press up A/C to perform the kuu sajin... Nevertheless, the kuu sajin may now be a "command" move...

Anyways, yeah, the game is looking good.... I can't wait to try it out myself... I wonder when my local arcades will get it... Maybe they got it already, who knows??? Gotta go see for myself, he,he...

Btw, all we need now, is for K9999 to try to and steal Syo's motorcycle (from KoF '99 Evolution) and run off with Angel, he,he... LoL. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Hey yamazaki As for maxima his command throw justs sucks anyway. I don't know whats the matter with that move. Sometimes it has problems comboing from like a lk. Oh yeah and about syo mortcycle...have you ever beat the game 99 on dreamcast with syo? Its looks pretty funny when your all running away from the nests base and the syo there is riding away on his cycle.

I was looking at his move list on kofonline and it would appear as though he no longer has his counter move.(qcb+p)if so that would suck....and kof2k1 will go down one point.
It looks like he dosen't have his 182 ways(qcf,qcf+p I think thats what it is called)anymore ethier...while that ws never my fave move anyway I think its dumb for kyo to only have one level one.

I read that he has his counter back(qcb+p)and thats its actullay his wire attack to. Now that sounds pretty cool....though it would seem as it could get pretty mean to. Like I hit with the counter then I do his qcf,qcf+p super after they bounce on the wall, and then go into his qcb+K move.
though im not really sure how the wire attacks work though. Is it like GGX maybe?
Also I hope shingos critical hits are back.

I read that his dragon dance is now a up close move. thats pretty cool , but I wish you could still do it from a far.

he has his fireball back I just hope he stil has his qcf,qcf+p when in close move. Iv'e been missing that move since 98.

I have some potincialy disturbing news....well ya know how irois madied masher has been weakend....I read some where that it goes to the point where it doesn't even go under fireballs anymore......please someone tell me this is not true......if so kof2k1 goes another point down.

One more tidbit I just read that to get out of throws now you have to press the button to get out ofit.....like if I throw you with the c button you have to get out with c........though getting out of throws in kof was almost to easy anyway.

The problem with Maxima's command throw is that the range is too short when compared to other throws, like Ralph's/Clark's hcf B/D, etc. I wasn't talking about his command throw tho, I was talking about his grab super. Anyways, yeah, it looks pretty funny when Syo runs away in his bike. It would be even more funny if he accidentally ran over the other players, he,he... <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Hey, you know what other thing looks funny in KoF '99 Evo?!?!? With Krizalid and Dark Kyo striker and near the middle of the screen, call out Dark Kyo and immediately perform Krizalid's qcf hcb A/C (S)DM, Krizalid will carry the opponent to the corner with Kyo's fireball following behind. Krizalid will start hitting the opponent with his arms, and if he scores at least five or six hits, and then Kyo's fireball hits the opponent, the opponent will go flying off the screen. I didn't play KOF 2000 that much so it would be very hard to comapre it to 2001 when I do eventualy play it. However, I didin't like 2000 to much because I felt the moves were to slow and it could have look a lot better. It seems KOF 2001 fixed a lot of what was wrong with 00'. Let's hope they did.
