I just picked this sucker up cheap and plan to log some serious KOF94 playtime in this weekend.

I like it for it's old-school goodness and undeniable SNK flavor. But I must admit, I haven't actually PLAYED it much lately....

So what do you guys think about KOF94?

The only time I ever played it was back in June 1995, making it my first (but hopefully not last) experience. I enjoyed it greatly, simply because of the wide range of characters (at the time), and the fact that characters from both Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury were in it. If I ever get either an AES or MVS system, I plan on getting one for myself, if not for memories' sake.

I loved the game when i got it in 95 and still love it today,so much blood and mai is so bouncy,it spells class,

A word of note, when this game was released in japan on the neo,it was no 1 in the games chart, which is amazing considering that 8 of the other 9 games were super nes games

i just never liked that characters have movements that are performed almost the same, most of the time you end pulling out the other one,

for example 1 movement is half circle back the other full circle back.

that control just sucks

someone agrees ?

IF IT WAS NOT FOR THIS GAME AND THE FIRST TWO SHODOWNS SNK WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE MONEY TO CONTINUE MAKING GAMES FOR AS LONG AS THEY COULD!!!
IT MADE THEM A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH.

Great game, that was the first game to put together FF and AOF characters, and for me it has some of the most beautiful backgrounds of the series.

Well, my KOF94 weekend has come to an end.

Ah, the memories have come flooding back...

Such a good, nostalgic game. I had forgotten how lush the BGs were. And the non-editable teams, for some reason, actually make me like this game more.

Classic!

From screenshots, it looks all right, and maybe I should give it a spin. I mean, absolutely god-awful artwork didn't stop me from trying 97 and 98, so why pass up this one?

You know, 94 had some consistantly good artwork, adn the stages were all cool. I don't know what happened in 97 and 98 - there was some good artwork, and a lot of bad artwork. The bodies in 97 were disproportionate - huge arms and small heads - a super buff benimaru and shingo? Iori's chest wide like a mack truck? Made no sense. So KoF 98 came and we got bad pics of Kyo, Yashiro, Chris, Yamazaki... Iori looked cool again, and his energy bar pic was super nice.

But then you also have to consider that the DMs in kof 94 and 95 are a little tougher to pull off - Heidern's for example - and gradually, the DMs have all gotten easier. The only character to grace a recent fighting game in the past year with a difficult super is Geese.

man, imagine combinining the motions of the bison killer, deadly rave and raging storm. A move that combines all three should KO the opponent and the two other team members.

i must admit that '94 & '95 the BACKGROUND Graphics is MUCH better and detail than hte later series version!

i personally felt that 2001 BACKGROUND graphics really SUCKS!!!

Can't see their face at all i mean even the EYES and NO initiatives at all. Only people standing around at the background!

I can't stop playing KOF 94!

The little differences that set it apart from the later games really give it an immense appeal.

It's soooo limited in terms of moves.. but for some reason, it finds a certain appeal in this shortcoming.

You can't edit teams either. Also, for some reason, this is kinda cool in this game.

Overall, this was the best deal I ever got on a KOF game, only 50 bucks.

It reminds me of that Faith No More song "Surprise, You're Dead". Kickass stuff. The guitar riffs are the same.

Glad to see so many fans of KOF. A lot of the fans that caught on with '96 just don't understand what gems '94 and '95 are. They say 'KOF '94 is the worst' because it doesn't have rolling or team edit. They also don't like the fact that it focuses on the much better casts comprised from FF and AOF characters. And I don't know about the control complaints; I never had a problem playing the game as long as the controls were in fully working conditon.

'94 is the game that convinced me I had to own a neo geo. After playing it in the arcade for the first time, I was certain: I MUST own this game and be able to play it at home at my leisure.

That's one of the carts I own that has paid for itself in the sense that I would have spent well over the 300 bucks it cost to buy it playing it in the arcades.

'94 is probably my second fave KOF, and that's only a hair behind '98.
