Alright. Metal Slug 1 + Metal Slug 2 = Metal Slug X (With a dew add-ons) Some people are telling me that SNK just made it to rake money in because they know how people like the Metal Slug games. I however love this game! It is great. Do you think this game is good or would you rather play 1 and or 2?

game is not bad but it's just an "updated" version from MS 2. This is the only game I'll wait and buy the import playstation version rather than Neo Cart since I have both MS 1 & 2 on Neo CD. There is no way want me to shell out another $250 for an "updated" version unless I become a hardcore Neo fan and must get everything SNK has

I own MS1 & 2 on CD and MSX for MVS. I don't regret getting the MVS cart at all. MSX is a great game and it's what MS2 should have been in the first place.

You're probably right though in saying it was made just as a money maker. Regardless, of all the Metal Slug games, I probably play MSX the most. (I also own Metal Slug 3.)

Yeah, Metal SLug X is a Metal Slug 2 update, and probably made as a arcade moneymaker. I don't think it's necessary to get Metal Slug X, if you get Metal Slug 2--unless they are a real fan of Metal Slug 2. But, If they don't own Metal Slug 2, I really recommend Metal SLug X--it's a better game, though not by much.

I also own Metal Slug 1 and 2 on Neo CD and recently got MSX on Neo Cart. I do not regret getting it at all. MSX fixes the slowdown from MS2 and adds some of the new weapons found in MS3. It also has better AI for the enemies so its more fun to play in the long run. Its hard to admit but in some ways I like MSX better than MS3. I do not have high hopes for MSX on playstation.

I skipped this game. I never even gave it a chance. I have been relying on internet sources for the up-to-date info on Neo products and my number one source (who wants to remain anonymous at this time) said exactly what my Texas neighbor, Silent Scope said. The game is no more than a MS2 update. I love Metal Slug 1 & 2... and at first the MS X title intrigued me... I dunno why but I love the letter X... its just mysterious and powerful for some reason. So I really wanted this game... but my top source said hey, don't pull the trigger just yet... let me give you the lo-down on this one. Afterwards I had made my decision. MS X is no more than a flashy title. Skip it unless your funds are limitless and your pop owns the Dallas Cowboys.

Thanks for all your opinions. I think Metal Slug X is a great game. It have a lot of 1 and 2. Both games were great. Even though I have not yet MS3 I think MS2 will always be my personal fav. (Im sure I'd love MS3 though)

While you guys are talking about MS - just how different/updated is MS3?? I have X and 1 and just wondered how 3 compares in terms of size, graphics and most importantly playability???

Also I gather its not worth getting 2 if I have X already?? I ask as it was gonna be my next game but seems pointless if X is very similar but better.

Well I like metal slug X also for the debug option only. Buy I disagree with it just being a title to grab more money. I actually think SNK had bigger plans for X, you can tell with all the incomplete levels, enemys and vehicles that were not in the main game. However for what every reason the scraped the idea of making it a true sequel and rehashed it as a hybreed of 1 and 2. of course latter they used some of the same ideas for 3 but go figure.

I'd say; go for X, even if you have the previous two Metal Slugs on CD. The game has a more "hard-core" feel to it than 3.I own both. In terms of graphics 3 is superiour, not that the animation is any better; there are just many more enemies than before. Some of the new enemies are brilliant, like the zombies of level 2 and the huge flying things from level 1. Sound effects are Superb, but not better than X's:the same.

It may sound strange, but the worst part of ANY MS game is the upward scrolling spaceshooter bit in the final level. I hate that bit; looks awful and is too long. I know people have been saying things like "WOW, what an amazing addition to the traditional side-scrolling game!!Superb!" Well, I think it sucks.

Oh, and the last level is just waaaaay too long. And the ending sucks, as in that it's not as good as Metal Slug 1.

Whats wrong with you? Metal Slug 1 has no ending! The guy falls out of the helicopter and dies! That is incredibly lame...(nice game though) MS2 has a nice ending.

I'll add my two cents...Metal Slug endings 1 and 3 were disappointing but as for 2 of which I have the X version I love it. Ripped off Independence day movie which ripped off everybody and their mother.
I also agree about the space part in Metal Slug 3, I found it long and dull, I was expecting something really awesome although in the end I still love all three games because they are intense and frenetic especially with two players and the 2D art is beautiful. I'm still hoping for more!

I don't remember MS 1 ending coz it's been too long. When I saw MS 2 ending, I thought "what the......am I watching Independence Day or what...."
MS X? Hmmm....can't beat the game.
MS 3....ha....well.....I haven't seen it yet :P

I think you're right, MSX was just a way for SNK to milk a very lucrative cash cow.

I never owned MS2 on cart, so I went with MSX. When I first played though and beat it, I got sick of it, but later learned to appreciate it. I like how the vehicles are more scattered thoughout the levels. If you have 2, pass it up. I don't think the additional weapons they later used in 3 really make a big impact in the game, either.

Come to think of it, I don't know why, but I really like MSX. Maybe it's cuz it combines some of the environments of 1+3... Who knows.
