Ok, I know very little about hyper stuff and i'm getting confused about the Samurai games.
How many were made on the hardware? Where they seprate games or was one an "upgrade"? And was the one on PSX on the hyper hardware?
Oh yeah, if anyone could post a pic of that short haired bust Nakoruru I"d really be happy. Thanks.

There are 2 hyper samurai games, Samurai 64 and Samurai Spirits 2 (Warriors Rage in the US). Spirits 2 has the cast from 64 in it, but is an all new game, not just an upgrade.

The Playstation 3-D Samurai game is called Warriors Rage 2, it's supposed to be the sequel to Warriors Rage on the Hyper 64. It's a PSX exclusive game and NEVER came out on the Hyper 64.

The only home port of any Hyper 64 game is Fatal Fury Wild Ambition on the PSX.

It must also be noted that the hyper version occurs something like 25 years after Warrior's Rage/Asura Zanmaden. That's why Haohmaru is old.

The PSX Warrior's Rage 2 was not a really good game, but it had promising character designs. Tohma Kuki would have been awesome on the Hyper, or even in 2D... I guess it was SNK's ineptitude in programming on PSX hardware that did them in.

Daaaag Wasabi - they are gorgeous. hhehehehhe.... A good way to display eye candy to entice Neo Hyper buyers, eh??? On another note, Samurai Shodown 64 2 Asura Zanmaden is MUTHAF%$@IN-AWESOOOOOME. this should have what you want. I managed to get the big SS art book a few years ago, but it's in DC. That also has all the artwork for the 6 major games (which leaves out SSRPG and WR2).

It seems more people than I thought think that PSX Samurai 3-D game was ported from the HYper 64, even NCS says it is in their description for the game

Damn....those pics are awesome!!! THAT'S MY GIRL!!!

Well, I've only played Samurai Shodown 64....matter of fact I play it practially everyday since we have that one in the arcade where I go to school. I've never played the 2nd one though I do have the OVA and its cool. Personally, I like the 3D version of SS better than the 2D....I've never played the Playstation Warriors Rage....never really enticed me since I only have the good old Super Nintendo!!!

Anyway, I'm saving my money up because there is a place here in town (San Antonio) that is selling SS64 with the whole cabinet and all for $500. I can't wait to get it.

that sounds like a very good deal, especially if you can get Asura Zanmaden later on. SS64's influence on DoA2 is so apparent the first time Genjuro knocks you out of the house into the village (take the fight outside). Now you finally see Tekken 4 doing it (a little late, eh). The texture mapping in Asura Zanmaden is definitely better than in Samurai Tamashi (SS64), which, since you like Samurai Tamashi, is a very good reason to get both.

Yeah...I'm likely gonna get SS64-2 as well...that only costs $100 by itself without the cabinet and I can always just switch out SS64 and SS64-2
