Hey,
thanks for the great reviews. I just picked up a supergun and was going wondering if the 64 stuff was worth picking up. I may have to get one after all

I've played Samurai Spirits 2. It's a little too slow for my tastes. Cool game nonetheless.

Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition makes the PSX look cheesy and stupid. Punches hit harder...and it's generally just more fun. No loading time, either. If you'd like a review of the game, I'm going to my friend's store (he owns one) this weekend. Any requirements, etc?

I havn't finished my Wild Ambition review yet, that's why nones up. But yea by all means review it, no real requirments, I just don't score games by numbers, make the review as long as you want, and make sure to include a 'whats cool' 'whats not' final word, check out one of my reviews (links up top) to see what I mean.

Nice reviews DKE - kinda makes me wish I had a Hyper 64 set-up!

I'm not much of a fan of 3-D, but these look like they'd be a lot of fun.

I do have to say that, graphically, they appear to be somewhat dated - especially Buriki One. The characters look EXTREMELY blocky, and there doesn't appear to be much detail in them either (SS2 is better, but still not jaw-dropping).

Of course, this is probably just due to the fact that these are still shots - I thought FFWA looked pretty weak too until I downloaded some movies of the game in action. Wow, what a difference seeing it up and running makes!

Anyway, nice to see some reviews of the Hyper 64 games - maybe I'll be able to play them myself if I can hunt down a board sometime after the first of the year...

Actually, if you're a real bout maniac for real, you'd like FFWA. Although the line system is gone, you still have the same rush combo action (different combos, same idea). But overall, Samurai 2 is the best game on the system. Buriki One is also good, but it's an aquired taste. See, the polygons are blocky - like SF EX + - but the technique is incredible. First off, you attack with the joystick and move with the A and B buttons. It's very counter intuitive, and I often find myself fucking up motions because my hands are confused.

Samurai Spirits 2 is the best game in the series because of the depth of characters and the ambiance, and especially the rich texturing. Textures all you to overlook the low poly count, trust me. Hanzo's insane throw combos are incredible. And the last boss is the cheap cheese that SNK is known for.

I agree with you wholeheartedly EvilWasabi - graphics don't necessarily "make" the game for me either (although I think they're oftentimes more important in a 3-D environment, where you're shooting for realism, as opposed to the generally more cartoony 2-D).

Personally, I think Buriki One sounds like a refreshing change from the normal 3-D fighting games out there (2-D also, really).

Heck, I generally can't stand 3-D fighters in the first place, and yet I'm still itching to try the ones on the Hyper 64, so that right there should tell you something!

If you've been playing Dead or Alive 2 or Tekken Tag on PS2 then that is how it will look

I prepared myself before I bought my setup by thinking that anything better than say playstation type graphics would be a bonus. If I was to place it amongst consoles, I would put it between the Playstation and Dreamcast. Better than PSX, but not quite a Dreamcast

Samurai Spirits 2 was a bit of a disappointment tho and looked well sketchy compared to screenshots I had seen. After seeing what for me was a quite a poor samurai game I whacked FFWA on w00t w00t, I was expecting this to look piss poor to put it bluntly but fair play, its a great game and even after lapping up Naomi games for the past year or so it still comes across as well worth owning

FFWA is great, but I always felt FF:RBS on the MVS system was the best, and even tho FFWA adds a 3d element, its still feels like its lacking something.

For me Buriki One is the game to own on the Hyper Neo Geo system and its not until you get clattered by Takato's mid height counter-attack that you realise it :P

Only downside to the Hyper Neo Geo from where im sitting is that once you've played the games it has...you get the urge to go out and get some new games, which sadly...
you can't do....coz there are no new games

I don't know... IMO, Samurai Spirits 2 is the best looking game on Hyper64. Well, I only bought NG Hyper because of samurai games... I don't really care about FFWA or Buriki.

I really like your reviews drift king! I never played hyper 64 ! Your reviews made me want to play it even more. The only problem with buying one for me is I have no clue how you would set it up. Is there a website with info on how to set it up if you buy a hyper64 board thanks in advance

The neo geo 64 is the big unknown for me. I have never seen one and I have never played to it on PSX.
