Whhooohhooooh!!!! I finally got my Hyper set from Vectorlogic (thx a million Jeff Ferrier). YESSSS!!!

I booted up Samurai Spirits 2 64 version and man behold at the graphics of this game. The gameplay is slow but anyone can get used to the timing. The game is awesome.

@ Shou-sama - The units I got from Vectorlogic seemed to be a JPN version. My MAS SuperNova accepts this baby just fine w/ glorious sounds and music intact. No sound harness requirements on this puppy. I hven't found the DIP Switches tho' but I'm just enjoying looking and trying out this game first. Man, this system is AWESOME!!!! Highly recommended... Hey y'all, get this system while you can... I know I'm enjoying mine, whhoohhoooh!!!

I know what you mean. The game is simply awesome. Don't tell anyone though - they might argue that the gamefalls short of Tekken 4 standards.

Hey Wasabi - Yup I know what you mean, Man. I think the designers tried to do a Sword Fencing Simulation speed on this puppy, but with he kewl special moves mixed in for fun and flare the SS series are known for. I lOVE this game tho.

Hey Wasabi - I hope you're enjoying this build as much as I'm enjoying mine. I've been playing this more than I've played my Gran Turismo 3 A-SPEC. Later Wasabi...

Yes, SS on Hyper is way underrated!

FYI there are dip switches underneath the board but they do nothing. To get a test menu you have to wire a test button to pin 15 and pin 1 (ground). Or if you're lazy like me, just (carefully) touch a wire to both pins.

OLA neojedi - I'm glad you've been able to do yours. I would love to do mine but I'm just not sure how to set this up coz I plug this puppy to a MAS Supernova so the switch will be loose somewhere even if I wire pin 16 and Ground to the switch, it'll be loose and dangly, do you think this will be OK??? The Hyper manual shows a schematic so I maybe able to identify the affected pins to solder/wire the switch to and I can finally access TEST MODE of this motherboard. I'll study the board some more and if I'm comfortable to a degree I'll attempt it. I hope its easy wiring process. PEACE neojedi....

Yeah, my Samurai Spirits 2 is Japanese. The one I have a problem with is the world version of Samurai 64. Those Portugese or whatever voices really bug me.

Hey Shou - Hhhhmmmm....interesting.... I had the impression that Vector sent you a new motherboard and cart. The one I got was new so there shouldn't be any save settings in there but the default. So I thought if you have JPN motherboard, by default, even your world version cart would boot to JPN language first, then you can change the language setting via a TEST mode then save the settings. Yeah Man, even JPN language bugged me at first but I can tolerate due to authentic JPN setting of the game ie,. Japanese, but Portuguese??? I hope you'll be able to setting soon Man. PEACE Shou...

For an idea of how much I enjoyed SS64 II, go to gamefaqs and read the SS64 II faq by Mehdi C Malekzandi. That's me, and I'm still playing this game.

Though now I mainly just record movies of me playing and watch them over and over. I'm messed up that way.

First of all it's 15, sorry about that, my Neo memory failed me. For a home setup, if you don't want to touch a wire to the 2 pins as described above, the easiest way would probably be to get some 20 gauge wire, a simple button with 2 leads, and some caps at a hardware store. Then splice the button into the pin 1 and 15 wires on the jamma harness leading out of the Supernova. The advantage here is that you would not alter the H64 at all. If you're better at this than I am (sounds like you might be), then you also might consider connecting the button to the same wires inside of the Supernova, drilling a hole in the side, and mounting it.

The numbered pins, at least for me, are on the top of the hyper and start from the left of the side with the connector. There are 28 pins, and the empty gap in the connector is considered number 7. Test is 15. The test menu will give you access to difficulty, language, freeplay, blood level, etc... good stuff!

That's a great FAQ, props for making it! In fact it's the only good one I've ever seen.

There was actually a bit of discussion on it awhile back... one of the few complaints was something that (unfortunately) drove everyone nuts. On Bust Hanzo, you have A,C,B,D,AB,CD,ABCD listed as a multipart for the spinning piledriver! I wish! We concluded that it was meant to be listed as a finisher for one of his other throws, I forget which one.

That throw is listed in Neogeo freak. honest to god I can't pull it off. I'll try again later (been saying that for years).

Hey neo - when you said carefully touch a wire to both pin#1 (ground) and pin#15 (TEST MODE), do you mean get a long enough wire to reach between pin#1 and pin#15, strip off the ends of the wire then touch the nekid ends to #1 and then again to #15, then boot the system up??? Is that what you meant the "lazy" way to do it??? PEACE!!!

Yes, the method is right, only my way is doing it after the system has fully booted up and is running, not shut off. Hence the word "carefully". I don't think you can seriously damage anything by closing a circuit between ground and any of the other pins, but you never know. Also, slipping and touching the wire to an internal part of the H64 such as the power supply is probably a bad idea.

Edit: I see what you're saying now, you want the wire to be held in place when the system boots. I'm not sure it's possible to hold a wire in place like that for a minute without fastening it down somehow. If you want to do it that way then maybe you can jam it into the space between the connector and the harness.

Hey neojedi - So if I'm getting you correctly, your "lazy" way setup as this: you have a wire long enough to reach pin#1 and pin#15, both ends stripped off nekid wire showing with ends bent 90 degrees with the bends in same exact length, you had this particular wire on a harness somehow fastened on the motherboard or the SuperNova looming over the JAMMA connector with the nekid wire ends aimed at pin#1 and pin#15, then you boot the motherboard, with live current flowing and the boot screen displays a particular screen you press down on the harness so that both nekid wire ends would touchdown on pin#1 and pin#15 at exact same time hence triggering the Hyper TEST MODE, then once you finish what you need to set under TEST MODE, scroll down using joystick to EXIT on the menu, press A, then once you get message on screen telling you to "SWITCH OFF", press the nekid wire ends again to touch pin#1 and pin#15 to "SWITCH" off or "TURN OFF" the TEST MODE, then you go back to normal boot operations and HUNKEEDOREE you can play once again with the settings you've saved.

Is this pretty much the GIST of the "lazy" method you indicated???
