Every month I see at least 1 broken hyper neo geo motherboard, and I wonder if mine, which although in disuse right now, may be next to die. It would be good to find out which types of mothers are dying (if they are the first generation hypers or second).

I've never heard of broken hypers until I read your post

I've heard of games that suddenly stopped working without any reason, but no systems.

go to ebay and search for "hyper neo geo" then select "show completed items." Then you'll see a bunch of non-working hypers (mothers/pcbs).

I remember having heard of a problem with the old non-Jamma hyper boards. If you run them without the proper additional wiring, they will live for just half a year or so.
Someone mentioned that earlier this year.

@Mystery: PLEASE don´t remind of that!
You know what I mean.

First post for this baord, but I have found that what was said above is true. The 1st line of board that require a 2nd power supply and sound leads will brake if not used correctly. This is stated in the manual and will void the warranty from SNK (like there is still one). SNK released a 2nd board that is fully jamma and not jamma+ this board will run correctly from the existing power suppply with out any problems.
I just bought a board off of e-bay and we will see what happens the guy I bought it from said that he used it on his Super-Gun (super nova) so I'm already thinking it will have some problems soon. So, its my luck.... $110.00 down the shi** hole.
But we will see.

EXTRA NOTE: This board likes to be very cool, so make sure you have a fan installed in your cabinet... and if you can keep the room that your system is around 78 or better that would be ideal.
