VektorLogic and stuff...

I saw somewhere on the board that VektorLogic bought 7000 HNG64 units from SNK.
Several thousands, they say... whatever... Never mind. But... Why would anyone do that? Buy
thousands of something that almost nobody is interested in?
Arcade owners are not interested in buying the machines because, well, Hyper NeoGeo64 is pretty old
system. Besides it has 4 games that most people doesn't even care about. And who want's to have an
arcade that nobody will play anyway... So I guess they weren't aiming at that kind of market.
There are fans (I'm one of those <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> who are more than happy with Vektorlogic's offer. The problem
here is that... Heck, I don't think there are 7000 people in the world that will buy the system!
I'm pretty sure that not even 1000 people are interested in it. There's not much more than 20
of us, who bought the HNG64 system, here on the forum. And I do believe that most of us who
bought the Hyper are here...
What I want to ask is where is profit in that? And I'm sure VektorLogic payed A LOT for
7000 units of Hyper NeoGeo64! Or did SNK just gave the machines to VektorLogic for free..?
Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anything against VektorLogic! I have SS64 games only because
of them. And I am really happy with it! It's just that I can't stop thinking about it...
Umm... Ok, I don't think anyone here has an answer but I just had to ask!

PLEASE Otaku,go to Vector again ans TELL JEFF F to give the money back to Loren Holman.

Loren paid for a DIGGERMAN cart and Jeff F. got the money BUT didn't ship NOTHING.

PLEASE TALK TO JEFF and TELL HIM he is ON THE BAD SIDE.

PAYMENT WAS RECEIVED MONTHS AGO BY PAYPAL AND THEN NOTHING.

BUYERS BEWARE OF VECTORLOGIC

The mass arcade gaming market has yet to see what the Hyper has to offer. The board failed because it was virtually unknown about to the public. SNK made a mess of marketing the system as well as over pricing it at launch.
I think Vektorlogic is aimming both at arcade owners and the fan base. Lots of places with only afew Jamma cabinets are after cheap games. New releases or complete kits on the cheaper end of arcade cartridges market(such as CPS2, Taito F3, Naomi will cost more than a complete HyperNeoGeo 64 motherboard and game.
Any fan with a supergun or jamma cabinet could also play them. Theres a market there, it's just reaching them.

I have dealt with Jeff in the past and my fist transactions were great (I actually bought two hyper sets of him) an MVS cab and quite an amount of games.
Then I got a large Electrocoin cab that had a damaged screen glass that he said he did not have time to change when I picked it up, but gave me his word that I could change it at a latter date.
When I came to change it (at the same time I was buying about £150 of MVS games), they told me Jeff said that I could not have it, so they got him on the phone and he said that I could not change it as he had someone who saw the cab with the good screen and was going to by it (before coming out with that he had totally denied to his employees that he had even said I could swap it), so I go away pissed off and remembered that there was a cheque still to clear so I stopped that.
And then they were finally willing to talk to me about it, in the end I agreed to pay the money cash and also buy the other cab at a slightly reduced price.
So my question is what happened to the person he said that saw it and was buying it?
Since then I have had no dealings with Vektorlogic although I keep thinking of emailing to see how the land lies as before that happened I felt Jeff was a great guy to deal with. I know he was going through a rough time, but there was no need to go back on things that were said.
In conclusion Jeff seems to have a fair weather friend kind of relationship with his customers, which I hope will be proven wrong if I contact him again, but I do not think the odds on that are good.
If he still reads the boards then he will know who I am, and I hope he is big enough to put the problems behind him, as I liked dealing with his company and the people who answered the phone were very pleasant and Deborah (I think that’s her name) was helpful when things went wrong with Jeff.
I have seen a lot of good and bad things about Vektorlogic all in all everything in my opinion is probably true so I guess it is the luck of the draw as my experience has been sometimes good and sometimes bad.

If I remember correctly Vectorlogic purchased all of that Hyper 64 hardware with the intentions of developing software for it.
More GOOD software would increase the value and interest in this system.

Have to agree with this dude about Jeff - I won a six slot cab from him on ebay and it cost £220 including shipping (he was going to deliver it himself for £35), but he couldnt get it to Scotland so he sent it via Palletline (cost an extra £35) but he paid the additional £35 costs himself

OK - here we go

Loren Holman - ordered a diggerman cart about a year ago - never paid for it....

Then ordered it again via Paypal a couple of months ago ....very busy.. shouldn't have accepted payment for it - returned payment - offered to issue a free Diggerman cart when I got time to program up the ROMs -Loren had the money back ages ago - I will post the Paypal info up if you need it... trust me :-)

Adam - you were offered the parts on the day and didn't take them - /......here's the situation guys:

Most arcade dealers won't touch private buyers..and when they do,they will charge you the earth for the parts or the merchandise. When you get items for next to nothing (and let's face it compared to the US we do in the UK, or at least I think that my prices in the past have been pretty cheap) people still bitch and moan about it. There have been several occasions this year when I have been a breath away from terminating consumer sales due to the hassles involved. I don't need consumer sales at all, but I am a collector and an enthusiast before anything else...so think what you will.

HNG 64 - what business I did was purely for profit - there is more to come, but I am afraid that you will have to wait for that :-)

As far as NGeo goes - there are more games being developed than most of you know so just wait. PC and X Box games will emerge in the near future for a fraction of console or system prices - but hey, I am a purist too so I will still keep my MVS system.

Since my last post I have emailed Jeff to see if I can buy off him again, as the problem I had was a good while ago and feel it was partly due to shit he was going through.
He has replied to my email and has been pleasant with me, so I hope to buy off him again in the near future as before the problem, I felt Vectorlogic was a top company to deal with.
I must comment on the statement of “Adam - you were offered the parts on the day and didn't take them” I did not have the chance of getting the screen as there were no tools around to swap them over, so it was agreed that it could be changed another time. If I was offered the parts and did not take them, I would need to be put in a mental asylum, as no-one would turn down a replacement screen glass!

But that’s all in the past and I hope to go back to buying the odd few things, as Jeff was very helpful (more than he had to be) and it is a good company to deal with as they do bother to deal with collectors.

So all the best for the new year Jeff and I hope to deal with you again soon.

Well, I will agree with you on most of the post, but I didn't order the Diggerman MVS cart a year before and didn't pay. I just want to set this straight. I ordered Shocktroopers MVS cart w. mini marquee a year ago though. I got the cart and everything shipped in quick fashion and never had a problem. I posted this before, but with the hack I think it got lost.......oh well......the whole paypal thing was cleared up a long time ago, and Jeff was extremely cool with me on that. I posted this as well in the forums....I'll see if I can dig up a link.......anyways.....as far as the Diggerman MVS cart for free........well the "when I get a chance to make the ROMS" was never included when I talked with you Jeff, but it's cool with me whenever you decide to make me one. I would still recomend your service though.....seems like I just caught you at a crazy time......Just let me know when you are planning to make that cart for me as I would still like to see it.....thanks...now I seem to have the entire puzzle, it looks better now that I have put all the pieces in place.......

I'll just plug in that Vektorlogic is very easy to deal with. Just call them up. Long distance rates aren't as bad as they used to be, and the great thing about Vektorlogic is that they are very polite and curteous on the phone.

Sure, I had 1 deal with them (hyper and 3 games, like so many others), and it was great. Thing is that many many many other people had the same great experience,a nd as usual, we can vouch for Jeff's good work.
