I WAS JUST CURIOUS HOW THE CONVERSIONS OF SS WARRIORS RAGE AND WILD AMBITION FOR THE PSX WERE WHEN COMPARED TO THE HYPER.

I never played the Hyper 64 version of Wild Ambition, but the PSX version is terrible. It's really slow, SS64 was also supposed to be really bad,but I didn't get to play it.

There is NO conversion of Warriors Rage for PSX! On Hyper there´s Warriors Rage 1.
On PSX there´s Warriors Rage 2, that game is unique to the PSX and has nothing to do with the Hyper!!!
The only hyper port ever made is Wild Ambition.

To get an idea of what has changed from Hyper to PSX, go to http://www.daddelkingz.de
and check the Wild Ambition review in the Hyper section. It is written in english, so there should´nt be a problem. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

He's right, it always pisses me off when people think that Warriors Rage 2 on PSX is a port of a hyper game, it is NOT!!!!!!

The PSX Warriors Rage 2 has ALL new characters! Only an old haohmaru and hanzo are in the game, and it's not a fighter, it's an RPG/Fighter. As anyone that has played the Hyper versions of each of the samurai games, you'll know that almost the WHOLE cast from Samurai 4 is in each game, the PSX Warriors rage 2 has only haohmaru and hanzo.

The PSX samurai game was a PSX ONLY game, just like KOF kyo was. The only home port of ANY hyper game has been Wild Amition on the PSX, and except for the awesome CG intro, the game is a pretty weak port, the arcade version is MUCH better. You want hyper quality? get a hyper!

Asra is in there as well, with a kick-ass introducing movie (that also features Yuga's second form). In SS:WR2 Asra is named Yuda (because of some "amnesic" issue, dunno...)

PSX ports of Nneo games are terrible. The DC makes better ports.

Ok, Hyper64 ports are horrible, but you can't really fuck up the Metal Slug X port.

Peace

the only current hper neogeo 64 convertion so far is wild ambition.Take my superior opinion into consideration.I've played both the arcade and psx version of wild ambition and can tell you the difference. The home version has infereior graphics and the sound effects lack the punch they had in the arcade. But the home version has ryo sakazaki and duck king plus their own individual music. If you liked the arcade version then you will like the home version. If your a true snk fan then its not a matter of "if" you will get but rather when.Dont listen to the others.HIDDEN WARRIOR knows best.

there are also slight gameplay differences between the arcade and home version.Kim's hishokyaku has NO recovery and tery's burn knuckle has no recovery either. This was not so in the arcade.

i own both ss: wr2 and ff: wa and they do both suck pretty hard, but those are 64 conversions. All the aes ports i've played (metal slug x, strikers, kof's) have been pretty good on the psx (especially strikers).

So is it a good RPG?
Even if the fighting is not good, does the rpg elements make it a good game?

Warriors Rage 2 is not a hyper game!!!!!

These were the hyper Samurai games:

Samurai Shodown 64
Samurai Shodown 64: Warriors Rage

Warriors Rage 2 on the PSX, is the SEQUAL to the 2nd Samurai game on the hyper.

Also Warriors rage 2 on the PSX is hands down the worst SNK game ever made. I'd rather play KOF Kyo. And yes the PSX version of Wild Ambition sucks, know why? Cause the arcade version is running on allot more powerful hardwear than the PSX.

It was probly just a sloppy port too.

Doh! Well I guess that answers my question.
It's a shame that SNK releases so much crap onto non-SNK platforms.
It no wonder so many kids think they suck & were all crazy.
They never get to see what SNK can really do.

lol yea that does happen, but at least both those games never came out in the US, wild ambition might have, i can't remember.

Thats why I hate it when people bag on the hyper 64, when all theyve played are those two PSX games.

I mean that PSX game Athena was pretty bad, but Warriors Rage 2 is like gutter trash, the only thing cool about it is Asra is in it, and the opening cinemas are cool.

Same with WA on the PSX, it has some awesome CG movies in it.

I have only played the Hyper Shodowns.
I thought they were very good fighters.
Very enjoyable, enough to where I want to buy a hyper unit. & I will someday.

Yea they are really fun, the 2nd one is amazing. I just wish it played a little faster. As fast as Samurai 4 would have been cool.

It's almost like a "Real" samurai fight. The moves are almost like real life speed. And when you see the final stage on Warriors rage you'll flip out cause it's so cool and errie.

I agree. I have beaten bot of them in the arcade, & the finale had a lot of atmosphere.
I was impressed.

Wow you accually found an arcade with them? lol. That wouldn't happen around here.

Yea the music in the 2nd one was so sureal. That backround with the pink sky in the middle overlook that huge town was really cool looking too.

LOL, unfortunatly no.
I've never seen one in the wild.
I went to a distributer wholeseller of Arcade cabs in my area.
These guys have a huge Demo room, for their customers all set to free play.
I acted like I was interested in buying a hyper, & they said have at.
So I got to play SamSho64 1 & 2, and that Buster SNK gun game all the way through for free.
Spent a whole afternoon & I had a real blast.
The guys that were working there said nobody was ever interested in the hyper, they were just dust collectors.
Course the fact they wanted 1500 for a dedicated SamSho 1 with a 25" was enough for me to steer very clear.

lol 1500 geez. Some of those arcade ops here are so clueless. They still try to charge like a grand for dedicated 2 slot cabs or something.

Now onder they complain about not selling stuff at those prices.

I think that SNK intentionally makes bad ports on other systems so that people would get the actual Neo Geo if they were really into the games that SNK made. It only makes sense since it is their own system. They are intentionally going to make inferior quality games for the PSX ports. And it's true that coin operators are clueless. I went to a local arcade dealer in town to ask about a Neo one slot, and they said that it was $850 with Sengoku 3. I was thinking to myself? WHAT!!!! They're out of their mind!!! Then I went to Mdgamesales and got a 2 Slot with 2 games for like $271 which was the total including shipping.

Somewhere above it was said that all psx ports of neo geo games suck... I can think of one that sticks out in my mind that wasnt a bad port at all... in fact I felt it was more than adequate.. That would be Metal Slug X... it was a far better port than that of Metal Slug 1. And amazing enough it came out stateside for a change. While it still isnt as good as even an emulated version of the game it does adequately replicate all of the qualities that make MSlug X a great title.
