How different are Samurai Spirits 1&2 for Hyper64?

I've got the second game, Warriors Rage and enjoyed it. Is the first game different in its style and execution to the second? Would anyone recommend buying the first if you already have the second? Thanks

I have both. The second is much better than the first and they are quite a few differences between the games. If you are a Samurai fan though, you'll probably want to pick up both.

What are the main differences? I've heard SS64 had more interactive backgrounds.

Yeah, SS64 has 3D-Backgrounds with 2D-Elements in it. You even can move free in the stages by holding the D-Button (very cool!). You slash your opponent through walls into other levels of the stage. If you are a fan of the later installments of the 2D-Series you like to know that the shodown-screens are still in SS64 (unlike in ss64 II... shame!) and they are very cool.

On the other hand, the 3D-motions are crap... but it's alot faster than ss64 II and you can do more combos, mostly by combining fast basic-slashes and kicks.

If you can live with crappy visuals go for it. I love it.

I'm so glad to see all the support for II out here. The people I play against hate II and are constantly claiming that there is no real fighting compared to 1.

Needless to say, II is my game. Every character in II is a puzzle to be solved and a force to be reckoned with. I just started playing Bust Ukyo, and the 3-hitter, Moriya moves, and Haiku super are blowing my mind.
