FUTURE AES RELEASES

As far as I've heard with ALL future AES releases, each and every game is "unlikely" to come out for the simple reason of the small margin on them. It's been no secret from the very beginning with SNK that the majority of their profits stem from MVS, not AES. Both are essentially the same "guts." This being the case, SNK charges 5-7 times more for the MVS than the AES, hence the profit margin is higher.

So what does this all mean? Simply, for the U.S. market, Shawn is the driving force for all future AES titles. SNK NEOGEO JAPAN CORP. will not approach Shawn, just because SNK doesn't see money in the AES, so Shawn will have to basically pull their teeth to get more AES titles out.

Whatever Shawn's price is on each of the AES games like Sengoku 3/Metal Slug 3 is his business, but I'm quite sure that he is taking a loss, since I know the "cost" of an MVS cartridge, which is less to make than an AES title is.

This being said, he is pretty much keeping the AES alive....with the support of the AES collector's who buy from him as well.

Anyhow, I thought I would share this insight with all of you.

As for future titles, besides Slug 4, "Rising Dragon" will be coming out in April/May. This is the versus fighter sequel to Double Dragon and from what I've heard so far, it's supposed to be the next hit. So far, KOF 2001 is a sure winner, so one thing at a time.

I really hope that they make a sequel of MOTW on AES...

...but...I think it's just a dream...

OF COURSE it is also a fault of those japanese only collectors who won't support Shawn in US home cart releases buying it from other sources and not supporting so any future AES release at all.

Yes,jap collectors' fault for sure if you look in this perspective.
I will be buying kof 2001 USA version for that reason, jap only collectors will keep their sick attitude.

If I can choose between JPN and US AES carts, obiously I buy the JPN version...

If there is only an OFFICIAL US version of it (i.e. Metal Slug 4), I'll buy the US one...

...I think it's clear.

The best is if Shawn could make both version (JPN and US)...everybody would be happy for that solution...

To survive in a difficult situation you must make big decisions. Stopping the AES production is the best way to avoid money losses.
Even if it's sad for all the neo fans, SNK must evolve and produce games on other supports to be able to make money.
We have chance that the MVS is still alive!
If you read the interview of KOF 2002 programmers on mmcafe, you will learn that if they choose the MVS it's just because it's cheaper than naomi, which is too expensive for many arcade owners.

And even if the US versions were bought by the japanese only collectors, it won't be enough to produce new AES games. Production numbers are so limited that the compnay won't earn enough money.

You never cease to amaze me. This, by far, is the absolute dumbest thing I have ever seen you type. But what do I know, your the expert collector here.

Anyways, have you looked at the Neo Store lately on the previous english titles? 375 copies of S3 and 278 copies of MS3. Hmmmm, if I was SNK, or whoever, and I looked at that.. Well, lets just say, I wouldnt be too impressed or optimistic on another US release. But hey, here comes 500 of the only official US release of 2K1. It's because of us Japanese cart and MVS cart collectors who arent supporting these releases. Were the ones to blame, not that there is no market for all these. What a fucking JOKE!

Were you sober when you wrote that?

You and me both. Except I'm not in it to "collect".

Counterpoint to you Turf, How many other places around the world were those games availiable? If there was actually only 500 of each game availiable at all, in any language, if would sell quite well. However, I still don't realistically see that happening.

Yeah, well there has always been a handfull of Neo sellers and yes, if there were only 500 of each game they definately would sell. I'm not going to debate the market for these, we are the market and we arent buying them, like we should. Too much politics for me, its a major waste of time. If I want new releases, I always go to NCS for any system, including my Neo. I think FTL should buy up the remaining and upcoming english stock to help propagate more english releases. ;)

Hmm, what happened to the European and US official carts in the past? They didn't get much of the titles that we're released, because there was no demand in those days, that's why they quited making them. And if even Shawn can't move 500 Official English Metal Slug 3 games, then who can? Hell, even SNK USA couldn't move 500 carts, and yeah it's all the fault of the Japanese collectors since we're just the sickest people around.

Again, your speaking just to type something to add to this topic.

YES,if collectors bought US aes carts from the neo store, the situation will get def better.

All around the world, many shops use to sell jap home carts, they will sell also jap kof 2001 home carts.
I.e. you can buy jap kof home carts from MANY SOURCES.

But WHO made the efforts to pull out new aes releases ? Shawn, not really others.

If his investment was good, supported by collectors,he would be more than ready to fork out the cash to support a new release.

THINK BEFORE TYPING,NONE will make anything for the neo geo home cart scene.

Shawn will if we help him.

Learn what your talking about,thanks.

Oh FTL, you just know me so well. It is just like to to type to bump my post count, I have nothing to contribute at all. Again, you are right, I have no idea what I am talking about, and I definately need to think more. But then again, I'm not the one who just offended several Japanese cart collectors.

I will never reach your elitest collector status and will never know the amout of Neo Knowledge that you do. You have told me about this before, I guess I just dont learn. I will not trouble you any longer on these subjects, I will never win. Seen Kanjifreak lately?

I am at your mercy. My deepest apologies..

Ah duh, Gamers also help make up a chunk of Neo*Geo sales as well and they buy the games to play them, Not beat off on em while they are on the shelf.

In conculsion I have to say this if you think the Neo Scene is totally dominated by collectors..
