Some info for you all regarding the AES. This info came direct from Playmore, and is just an abrideged version of an email I recieved.

First off, Playmore have no plans whatsoever to sell or produce snap-lock cases for individual purchase. They're classed as an individual component part of the AES cart (just like the chips). Playmore's stance is that they will not supply anyone (and I do mean anyone) with individual AES component parts.

Collectors breath a sigh of relief. Playmore will not be releasing or indeed re-releasing any of SNK's back catalogue. So those of you hoping to see Metal Slug or Blazing Star re-released on AES - forget it. It's never going to happen.

MVS only titles will remain like that. So no official releases of Zupapa, Strikers 1945 or SDB (to name but a few).

Although Playmore will not comment on games currently in development or confirm what they're working on, they have said that they are seriously considering developing MVS titles outside the fighting genre. So the possibility of new Big Tournament Golf's, Blazing Star's, and Super Sidekicks is not too remote at all.

Playmore ARE taking legal action against a certain outfit based in Las Vegas that stamp inserts, ruin inserts, and can't deliver what they promise. Future Episodes of Judge Judy should be most interesting...

That is all....

YYYEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!
Nice one, However, are they also persuing legal action against a very nice man in Canada who converts MVS games to AES, puts them in lovely boxes, does not rip people off and does a good job of the conversion?

Hope not......

Yes, Virginia... there *IS* a Santa Claus.

Guess all that paperwork doesn't exist? Or is that freaked too? lol!!!

well, all I have to say is... they had it coming and I hope it goes through. I don't wish ill will on anyone really, I just want them to stop their freaking destruction. A cease and desist order would do me just fine.

I don't think they can do anything about that though, as they own the stock they have and can do what they please with it. I think all it will stop is the conversions and prototype releases and if they buy direct, they can't redo the packaging.

Here's to blind faith. (in Playmore and the legal system.. not the shitty 80's song..)

I would love to see games like Metal Slug AES re-released on homecart.

Then watch how fucking fast 90% of these homecart jokers throw their shit up on eBay and leave the Neo like a cheap hooker.

Re-release all the rare games, and the Neo will fucking bottom out like Magic the Gathering did back in 95-96 after they re-released all the rare cards, 3 monthes after they did that shit NO ONE played anymore, we went from like 30+ people playing in friday nights to like 8-10, it was real sad.

I agree to. I would laugh for a week straight at all the people who paid over $1500 for Metal Slug 1.

These people don't deserve to own Neo carts when they just stick it on their shelf in a plastic baggie and never touch it again. Most normal people buy games to play. It's not a fucking investment. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

I agree but the first release of Metal Slu will ever be more valuable than a 2nd run one.

Wanna a example ?? look at the japanese Metal Slug 3. The 2nd run is less valuable ( even it's not that much! ).

But the 1st run of Metal Slug 1 will always be considered a rare cart as long as it is considered as a "1st run" one.

I don't see too many selling their carts off even if that would going to happen.

I consider myself a firstly a player then a collector.

Neo Geo is the true world of gaming, first run or not, what matters to me is the fun only.

Hi i'm new to the whole neo geo thing, to be honest I purchesed a neo of a friend with metal slug 2 for $150 and was told that I'd never find a deal like that again, recently I've bought a few carts and stuff then another friend told me of this place, but thats not important, what i want to know is, who is this company in las vagus, and why is he being sued by playmore?

as for people selling their stuff on ebay if playmore decides to re-release older AES carts
i say great more for the gamers,

Dude, that's some sour grapes shit if I ever saw it. The fact is, if you want Metal Slug, you can get it for $50. There's this magical thing called MVS. It renders all that 'collector' bullshit you rail about MOOT. You wanna blame someone for the high prices, blame the dumbasses out there who are willing to shell out $1500+ for one game. The way I see it, those crazy values for the '96 games are kind of a misguided 'reward' for those who stuck by the Neo's side when the sexier PS and Saturn reared their heads instead of dumping their shit and going next-gen. I, like many folks, dumped mine for the likes of Ridge Racer and Street Fighter Alpha, and came to regret it later. Am I crying now because I don't have a Slug 1? Hell no. 'Cause if all you want is the games, you'd do like I do and grab a Sigma, a 4-slot, and enjoy the good shit. If you start talking about how cool the insert, art, and English manuals are, than you're just as concerned about the collector angle as much as the schmuck paying $1600. The only difference is that you don't have the cash, and that's why you're bitter.

loopz is exactly right in this. your badwill wish is only out of jealousy. if you can play the games for cheap on MVS, why care if someone gets kicks out of paying the money for the AES?

plus your avatar is wicked queer, Orpheus.

flame on,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a fake account ?

Just because everytime we talk about the "Las vegas" company, a new account happears around these boards.

Like I said, forgive me if I'm wrong.

Personally I'd love to see AES re-releases of SNK's back catalogue, but Playmore aren't interested.

Probably the exercise would be too costly for them and they wouldn't make any money out of it. If they thought it would make them money they'd be falling over themselves to re-release Metal Slug on home cart.

It's never going to happen though. So you've either got to wait until the whole AES market bottoms out (which it will eventually) or you go MVS like Loopz says. Or get the DC version...

Regardless, I was very happy to read to that Playmore are considering releasing something other than KoF games and piss poor Metal Slug rehashes.

All the AES fans here might as well face reality !

There wont be any AES releases of any sort no matter how much you beg and plead !

There is almost 0 market for new AES games !

Hell in that respect they might as well make ATARI 2600 games while they are at it !

Best case scenereo new MVS titles , I will believe it when I see it though !

but since thats where the money is thats where they will put their effort.

I for one welcome new non fighters with open arms , fighters are cool but its getting kind of old ! IMHO

I don't think it would be costly for them and they would make money from it. There is a lot of demand for Metal Slug AES, that's why its price is so high. Personally I think it a shame that they released the pile of shit that is Metal Slug 4 on AES, when they could have used the money to make MS Aes.

Atrophyed you're forgivin, i'm no fake, i'm just a guy in boston area that know little about the politicsl background of the neo geo, personaly I thought I'd be stuck with only metal slug 2 when I heard snk went out, i got the system about 1 year before that announcement, the reason I say i'm new is cause after i beat MS2 and had no other games to play i put my neo away till I saw AoF 1&2 on ebay for like 20-30 bucks each
then i got really interested in it again, so my friend got me magician lord for my b-day ,my bro and his fiancee also got me kof 2001 and aof 3 for my bday, and I just got samurai shodown 1 and 2 for $50 about a few weeks ago, as you can see i've been grabbing what i could for cheap, thats when the guy who got me magicianlord told me of this place, said that i could get a lot of kick ass games dfor both my AES and NGPC for decent prices.

Like I said DFX I will believe it when I see it !

I guess what you are saying is that there is a market for them ? I think not !

Remeber this is all based on profit! there is no profit developing games for a dead console !
Which the AES is !

I would be willing to bet that the only reason they released ROTD on the AES is beacuse it has been in development for so long.

They have probably been working on it since before SNK folded ! so why wouldnt they try to sell what they have produced ?

Game development usually takes around 16 months at the fastest. from what I have read and seen anyway.

And who knows ? they may have only had 3 people working on it ?

I would imagine there were more, but who knows ?

I don't quite think you have a grip of finance do you? Do you realise exactly how many carts Playmore would have to produce and sell of any one particular title to just break even? Even then there is no gurantee that those carts will all sell.

If Shawn still has several hundred Metal Slug 3 US carts sitting in his stock room nearly two years after the game was released, do you really think Playmore are going to shift enough Metal Slug AES carts to make it pay? They would probably need to sell over a thousand carts...

It ain't gonna happen. The cheapest way of getting Metal Slug is going to Japan to buy it personally or buy it on MVS/CD.

In 8th grade I did, what's so funny about it? It used to be a fun game, when I was in 8th grade.

You used to collect AES carts, and you're like 20, I find that pretty funny, cause anyone who does needs to be admitted to a hospital. I can see a rich kid wasting money on those damn things, but grown men should have more common sense about the worth of money, and not waste it on hunks of worthless plastic.

I'm sure I could find more people who would find spending 800 dollars on a videogame a lot funnier than playing Magic anyday. Besides you collect AES for yourself, we used to play Magic because the other people made it fun, it was just to hang out.

Anyways, BOOOOOOOOOOONG.
