For any of you shooterholics, here is some SWEET footage of IKARUGA. I played this game in LA and it is a masterpiece. Made by TREASURE of course. Radiant Silvergun, highly regarded by many. well. just wait until you play this. This is so far available only on the NAOMI GD ROM system. No, I highly doubt it will be ported to DC. DC is dead, and there would be no reason to port it. Wishful thinkers my keep on wishing. Reality is, they will port this to whatever system will make them the most money. Wouldn't you be doing the same thing? Now of course, we can argue over what system will make the most. PS2 for one, obviously has the largest user base. But wether it could even handle this game is up for debate. THe NAOMI system is not just a dreamcast mind you. And those who have the NAOMI system will tell you dreamcast ports are not arcade exact. Anyhow, if oyu like shootemups. feast your eyes on this incredibly detailed boss on the second stage. Special thanks goes to MODE 7 and SEVEN FORCE for the footage. http://symphony.gamersgraveyard.com/main/features/7F/ikaruga/ikaruga-boss2.mpg

I already made a post a couple of days ago here.

http://www.neo-geo.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=8&t=00 7265

There is a link of a Movie for the 2nd Stage boss in the game. This is probably going to have to be the must own title for Dreamcast users out there period. :D

If a DC port of that game is a joke, it is an incredibly cruel one.

Chainsawyak and I have a friend who said it was going to be ported. He keeps me up to date on a lot of japanese software releases, and is usually correct (did you know there are still games being released for the MSX home computer?!). I'll try to talk to him a little more about it. Maybe I misheard him... so, don't put too much stock in what I have to say.

yes, just rumors my friend. thats cool they still make tital for msx, butt hey still make titles for saturn? or even dreamcast? though I wouldn't know too much about dreamcast, I doubt that any NEW games are coming out for it. It would be nice to have IKARUGA on any system, so I'm not against it being on any system. The more the merrier. But in the end, nothing beats the real thing. NAOMI GD ROM system +
IKARUGA + vertical jamma cab or supergun = heaven. now, I hope they accept payment plans with zero interest.

hmm don't know if there is any DC hate. I surely don't hate it. It had the best neo geo ports and shooter titles. They ceased producing games for the dreamcast, so it is technically dead. So the mentioning of the DC pertains to the possibility of ikaruga coming out for it.

As for neo, they are still making games for it. So it's all gravy and I want them to continue to make them. 2d forever.

True this is a NEO GEO forum, however, those that are interested in NEO, are most likely into arcade gaming. So any new news of new arcade games as extraordinary as IKARUGA is pertinent.

What I want to see is some Metal Slug 4 footage, and I'm sure seven force or mode 7 willl pull through if they beta test the game early.

Sorry, I'm still a bit sensitive about the DC's demise... sniff :(

It not only had some of the best Neo ports, it had the best arcade ports of any system EVER (from different manufacturers, not just SNK).

The AES is dead (unfortunately). The only reason MVS carts are still being made is the established user base is freakin' large.

Trust me, Developers are not sitting around thinking "what's the best way to make cash? I know, lets target all 1000 people worldwide who'll spring for a new AES cart! :) )

NEWS FLASH, IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT IKARUGA WILLLLLLL BE PORTED ON THE...DRUMROLL PLEASE.... PS2!!!

AS FOR MY INFO, I HAVE A VERY CREDIBLE CONTACT IN JAPAN THAT READ THIS INFO IN ONE OF THE LATEST JAPANESE MAGAZINES OVER THERE.

MAKES SENSE TO ME. THE PS2 HAS BY FAR THE LARGEST USER BASE. IF YOU WERE TREASURE, YOU WOULD HAVE PICKED THE PS2 AS THE FIRST CHOICE ANYWAY. THAT IS, IF YOU WANTED YOUR COMPANY TO MAKE MONEY. AND YES..THIS IS WHAT THIS BUSINESS IS ABOUT. MAKING MONEY.

ANOTHER THING, THAT TOTALLY SLIPPED MY MIN WAS THE FACT THAT A TREASURE PROJECT ALREADY! CAME OUT ON THE PS2.. ALA SILPHEED. CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THAT GAME,,...ACTUALLY IT'S NO WONDER I FORGOT ABOUT IT. THE GAMES SUCKED. NOW TWO THINGS COME TO MY MIND.

WILL PS2 BE ABLE TO HANDLE THIS MONSTER OF A GAME? I FOR ONE, PLAYED THIS IN THE ARCADE AND HAVE SOME DOUBTS. THE VISUALS IN THIS GAME ARE SO DAMN CLEAN. I'D SWEAR IT WAS RUNNING ON HI RES.
SECOND, THE FACT THAT IT'S A VERTICAL SHOOT EM UP, MAKES ME WONDER HOW TREASURE WILL HANDLE IT'S VERTICAL PERSPECTIVE. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL OFFER AN "ARCADE" MODE WHERE IT WON'T HAVE THOSE ANNOYING BLACK BLANK SCREENS ON THE SIDES.

EITHER WAY, GOOD OR BAD, GAMERS CAN RECHOICE BY HAVING TO ONLY PAY 50 BUCKS WHEN THIS TITLE COMES OUT. WHEN THE HOME PORT COMES OUT, I'M GOING TO BE TRACKING DOWN THE ORIGINAL NAOMI GD ROM.

Oh my god!!!!
Thats one super sweet looking game!!!!
Awesome stuff by the naomi.

Edit:
Here is to hoping that there would be a ps2 version.I'm sure ps2 can handle it if the developers really sit down and spent their time on the port.

That's interesting... kind of looks like a cross between Silhouette Mirage and Radiant Silvergun. Although not the most original concept ... it does look gorgeous. I'll have to wait and see, Radiant Silvergun is good enough for me in the meantime :)

By the way, anyone who has played it, can you confirm that. Is it the setup of "Like color protects, Opposite color attacks" as in Silhouette Mirage.... Thats what it looks like from the video atleast.

Yeah !!!

thats great !! but i must say..treasures choice to port the game to the psx2 was in my opinion not that clear !!!!!

they have never care so much about money, more about gameplay and hardcore gamers !!
if they would care about money they wouldn't have done all this great games in the past for underdogs hardwares like the n64 and this sin and punishment or the saturm games !
something like bangajo and other titles wher never publish !
in an old interview i have once read "maybe we don't seel some hundret thousand copys of our games..but who cares....we sell 10 000 and that enough for us !!"
"we don't make so much money, but we can life from"
ok,that how i have it in mind !
maybe sombody remebers the interview,it some time ago it was at gamespot !!

ah.....what a damm good game !!!!
would be no suprise when it still come out on dc !!!
