about time:

( from the madman's cafe )

Playmore, Eolith and Sun Amusement Co. have released first information on their upcoming 2D fighter for the NeoGeo/MVS system, "The King Of Fighters 2002", through Enterbrain Inc.'s Arcadia magazine.

"The King Of Fighters 2002" is scheduled for release in October for the Arcade MVS system, running at approximately 700Megabits. Development is currently 90% complete. The company structure for development and distribution will be the same as KOF2001.

As a game running between story chapters, "The King Of Fighters 2002" will not have a distinct storyline, similarly to KOF98. Specific details on the characters and game system has not been revealed as of now.

"The King Of Fighters 2002" is confirmed to will have over 35 characters. Its basic controls are the same to the previous in its series, with the ABCD button corresponding to weak punch, kick, and fierce punch, kick. Small, medium and large jumps are still existent. A new system relating to the Power meter will be added. Some system(s) will be deleted.

At the current time, no images of the game are available except for two blurred teasers. Character illustrations of the game will be released next month.

no storyline?

thats good

the nests saga was really boring and stupid anyway

no storyline could also mean EIJI & GEESE back

i truly hope so,
for i have sent like 10 emails voting for mister KISARAGI

over 35 characters? 700 megs?

that really sucks

that means shitty animations,once again

and ugly backgrounds

and crap music

terry will NEVER regain all those frames he lost in 2000

and i bet saisyu will be good old saisyu 98

well,i hope so anyway

they could always take his 95 incarnation

and what about strikers?

kof will never be kof again till they remove that crap and all the useless fighters like bao, hinako, ramon, maxima, whip and so on

its funny but

i know i will be very disappointed

but at the same time,
i cant wait to see and play the game

kof is always kof

Dude, the NEST's storyline is OVER. If you have any doubt, check this out, or actually watch the cutscenes at the end when you (?) play:VGMuseum

As for 2K2 news, I'm glad, but not really. It just sounds like an excuse for rehashness to me. I mean, the rumors we heard when 2K1 came out sound better than some crap "Dream-match" again. KOF 98 is cool, but the lack of intrigue and presentation is a bit disappointing...We'll have to wait and see...

I hope Vice & Mature comes back. Dammit I wanted them in KoF 2000 and they only appeared as strikers. That sucks.

Great, I'll be waiting for my DC version, no sense in getting the AES versions of KOF anymore when they put so many extras in the home ports...

No I'm getting 2000 and 2001, I'll gladly wait 6 months for the home port, which will have more, than drop 300 dollars on the homecart which will be outdated as soon as the better ports hit.

The game isn't even out yet and we have people writing it off.

Wait till you play before you open your mouth and say if it is going to be shit. For all we know it could very well be better than KOF 1998. Then again it could be one of the worst KOF. Until you play, don't comment on if it is bad.

Alright, then NESTS was just an "evolution" of the Orochi storyline...

So really, there is no "Orochi" or Nests", just KOF, in all its glory...?

At any rate, I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, I just meant to point out exactly what you said, in that it's going to go (HOPEFULLY) in a different direction, with NESTS as a reference MAYBE, but not as the direct cause. Dig?
cool.gif

And yes, it's true, I should with-hold judgement of the game until it is released. I'll probably love it...

fair cop to you

thats a pretty logical statement

so fair cop to you

the thing is

kof has been pretty much the same since 96

i am not talking about extra or advanced, strikers or counter / armor mode

i'm talking about the GRAPHICS

sprites and animations

99 was a good try to do something new

cos a couple fighters were actually redesigned and shit

but since then...well...

bgs suck in 2000 and 2001

i'm startin to notice a pattern,eh?

dont you?

thats what i was saying

OF COURSE i dont know bout the game in itself,
how could i know

remember,
you're talking to a KOF FANBOY

i hate to diss certain kof aspects or whatever

its like i'm punishing my own son

but cant help it

after MONTHS AND MONTHS

you are STILL missing the point

if the dc PORT came out BEFORE the homecart

i still wouldnt care

a port is a port

we can have good ports ( saturn )

horrible ports ( psx )

or fuckin good ports ( dc )

the thing is:
they are PORTS

the home cart is the original thing

simple as that

its not about the money,caris

i dont want my kof home cart to brag about it or cos its expensive

i dont give a damn

but kof is like a religion,or something

so i can only play the mvs / home cart versions

but hey

i'm glad you're buying the dc port of 2000

power to you,my friend

that game is still the worst kof though

Sounds good to me.
Ditch the lame story Bullshit.
Who cares if a fighter has a story?
It just takes up developer time that could be better used on charater balance & playability.

Ever wonder why kof'98 was soo good?
IMO, it's because they concentrated on the game, not some story that just detracts from the product.
I think this is the right move for KOF.

Just wait to see what we will get, But if they just do what they did from 97 to 98 then i shall be dissapointed. Its time they change the game with loads of new moves, specials & stuff, thats why i was hoping for a new saga to start up. They should put in the same effort that they were going to put in if it were the proper sequel. Thats the only way i can see this being anygood, then the following year i want all new stuff again, so you see they should have made it all new this time around, instead of making 2 different games which impress people.

To succede, it kneeds 2 things, new moves/specials & an interesting few new game systems to keep its style & date fresh.

Yeah but Buster at least wait till you play before you flame. I mean god, no one has even played KOF2002 yet and suddenly everyone thinks they are an expert on how the final version is.

i care about the story.
in fact thats why KOF has always been a big deal to
me. because i play alot of times by myself.
which is probably why i like 2000 so much
and why fran hates it so much. guess he has more friends than i do.
2001 story is shit.
it could have been gold for all i cared
but it still would have sucked
because the art was piss poor.
god. a zepplin.
wtf.
and i wont touch the music part.
but no story is good.
it just means the gameplay will be more scrutnized
by players.
and i dont care what you say.
2001 is a poor kof gameplay wise.
and i ll sit on that.
its my opinion and i m sticking with it.
i m hoping that kof 2002 will be good.
i m not being an asshole.
i just want more good games for my NEO that i dont
have to sell at a loss to get rid of.

I do totally agree with you

You cant flame a game until you play

People were flaming kof2001 and its ending up being argueable on of the best of the series, next to kof98

I am interested in it - the only game mentioned to get a release which i am not interested in is Power Instinct 3 mainly because the other parts were rubbish - but i will wait to see how things evolve
:) :) :) :)
