I've got a very sad feeling that it's true.

I WANTED to believe that it was an April Fool's joke, but it's late for AFJs.

O poodie.

At least they can't take our consoles, games and memories from us.

RIP SNK.

That article is not about SNK's death. It’s about Aruze taking action to get their newly acquired subsidiary, SNK, out of debt.

Good perception Shawn.
Even with a SNK death doesnt mean Neo is dead.

SNK will never die as long as their archives are'nt completely destroyed. Now it's possible that they can become 'INACTIVE' but never DEAD!! A Good example is Atari, their inactive right now because they shut down operations but nothing is stopping that company from being resurrected by some business group. When I say archives I mean 'all of their past projects'paperwork, hardware, software, logo, etc.
Plus the ENTHUSIASTS Play a Major Role in the preservation of all this stuff.

That is a cool way of looking at things. I haven't thought about it that way before.

OK

So most people feel sorry for SNK- but having dealt with SNaKe as they are know in Japan, they pretty much had it coming to them.

Tonight I spoke with SNK Japan, and their senior staff didn't even know it was coming. I think Aruze bought SNK to do the work on their new range of gaming machines with TS displays, then when SNK couldn't produce the goods, they went to Densitron to do the work for them.

Ebarra (Electronic Designer) did some pretty good stuff with Neo Geo, Hyper and NGP/NGPC, but it's too much work to expect one person to carry the company against Intel, nVidia and everyone else involved in development systems from the US to Taiwan - Hitachi are not our saviour, although they can knock out some pretty good sh**.

For me - I have been ripped off by SNK on several occasions, whether it be on developing software for their customers on their behalf, trying to establish licenses for new games, or just purchasing equipment (4k to load a container - go figure). Their conceit and sheer deviousness has been their downfall - now nobody trusts them and it is now time to open the gates to other developers.

BTW - anyone who wants a developers pack for Neo Geo MVS or (AES)/ Neo Geo Home - please mail me direct - they will be available as of 1 July 01 - new plastic cases for MVS and NGH will be provided -

Regards

I'm pretty confusd about this. Will the projects JUST anounced still be released, or not? Is SNK actually clossed, or are they just doing this to get out of debt and will continue? If Aruze is killing SNK I would hope they would make an attempt to sell SNK first. So what's the lowdown ? Seems odd they would show off new games only to go out of business like the next friggin' day.
Take care.

Anyone know how a bankruptcy works in Japan? Is it the same as here?

Also, Atari Games, the division of Midway, I believe is dead now. The only piece of Atari still alive is Atari Interactive (the former Atari Corp) which is now owned by, forget, Hasbro Interactive sold them off to.... Infogrames? Something like that

Nope they are very much alive, I had an interview with them a few months ago. But regardless, I get your point, just because a company is not doing anything, or is offically closed, it does not mean they are dead.
