Well I just bought me a new HDTV and was excited to try out everybody favorite system on it and when I did on one side I was VERY impressed by how good the picture looked, BUT there is one effect that the HDTV is unable to produce, transperencies(sp).

If you dont know what I'm talking about I'll give you an example:

-Last Blade/LB2 are the worst offenders, every time you swing your sword it leaves a "trail" behind it usually yellow/blue/pink that is SOLID.
With a HDTV it looks checkered like Hanzo's fishnet shirt, AND stuff from the backgroud shows through it so it looks fucked up especially when you use Moriya's cresent moon slash, it just looks uguly.

-Life bars that are supposed to be transperent also show the checker pattern and have the crap going on behind them.

The only games that showed this problem that I tested were the LBs and the SSs

But the graphics in every game are Equal to RGB even though its going through S-video.

They (the graphics)are absolutly STUNNING, KOF is just amazing to see it the way it was ment to be, and I always thought that it was an ugly looking game until now(redies flame proof sheild)

So if you are considering getting a HDTV keep this in mind, there are certain trade offs that you have to make. :p

Thats because HDTV's are only designed for movies in mind (DVDs).

CRT's are still the best for videogames. HDTV's and Flatscreens are crappy.

How big is your HDTV? I know that videogames can severely damage a big screen TV.

The problem with Big Srceens comes with projection models. Static images like life bars can cause burn-in.

I think it stands for Cathode Ray Tube, its what a regular TV uses to display the picture instead of a projector in a projection TV. They give you a nicer picture.

My TV is not a projection unit, it is standard.

Kinda like some arcade machines that once played other games and the screen from a previous game can be seen when the current game goes dark, ne?

Hmm well just be careful. Word of advice: If you have to pause the game for a certain time be sure to turn the TV off until you get back to avoid a risk of burn-in.

Ok, this is a stupid generalization. I've used my neo on an HDTV 50" Pioneer plasma and do not have this problem. I've also played it on an HDTV compatible home theater that uses a sony projector (don't remember the model) with a Faroudja line doubler.

Both setups did not have a problem with the neo.

Well I can't explain that except you must got a lucky TV to withstand the videogame dangers but do heed the pause button warning I stated earlier since you definitely got such a huge TV.

I've never had a problem with burn in and I've put in a significant amount of gaming on projection TVs. That said, I usually don't play for more than 3 hours at any given time. I think that the people who suffer from burn in leave their games on pause for long periods of time.

The NEO GEO composite video on my HDTV looks fine but when I use the s-video the color is faded.

After seeing how Spike-san's S-video problem is that it comes out RGB style, I'm guessing that since Neo Geo is an old system that it might be somewhat color incompatible with S-video. If Neo came out around 96 then I doubt you'd have that problem.

BTW, shouldn't this be a tech support topic O_O?

CRT's are what regular TV's use. With the Regular screen. Flat Screen TV's, Projection Screens, LCD/Plasma are not CRT.

Actually Flat Screens are quite horrible for gaming, someone posted about this in tech recently.

You don't know what your talking about Drift King. My HDTV is a flatscreen and it is a CRT. You should see the Saturn, PS2 & PSone and X-BOX on it and then tell me that flatscreens suck for gaming. Were talking 800 lines of resolution through component and s-video inputs.

lets make this one simple. SPIKE, what brand is the tv and what is the model #. it could be A few things. let me see if I can help you out. in general though, an HDTV is not going to be as good with A neo as A standard analog set.

Looky here jackass. I'm not pretending to be no chick and I'm over here trying to help some people with their TV problems if you've been reading. If anyone is posting useless crap is you and your showing you got no lofe by going out of your way just to start some shit about calling me a guy. I'm not a guy, get it through your head. You are either blind or just plain stupid. I'm busy helping some people and you over here spamming with your "Tora's a guy" bullshit. And there are a lot of mods and members that agree with me. So you better watch yourself buster.

MAN, are you annoying. The only thing you are doing in this thread is cluttering up (as am I, I guess) with your stupid words. If you don't know what you are talking about (99 percent of the time) keep your mouth shut!

The funny part is that the above quote holds true for both Tora and Caris.

Tora: projection screen burn in is a thing of the past.

Caris: HDTvs are for more than just DVDs

Rade: Canada Sucks :p
