Disclaimer: These sprites are fake.

If you hadn't seen this yet, then this is just for your edutainment. Apparently, some enterprising Japanese person/people with too much time on their hands decided to make fake Capcom sprites, more or less how they would look on the Neo. (Note: When I say that they're fake, that means they're fake. Not from any real game. They're fake.)

NOTE: These sprites are fake.

I think the Nash one actually looks pretty good--the muscles on the arms look a lot like the kind you'd see in a KOF game...for a FAKE, that is. Also, those sprites are fake.

They actually don't look that bad. Sure they are no where as good a MOTW's sprites but not to shabby nonetheless.

Agreed.
I actually hope the ones in the upcoming CvS for the NEO will look as good... ;)

They're fun to look at, just to get the imagination rolling for SvC. Lord, let this game be good...

Yes I saw those... I can't picture SNK keeping the cartoonish musculature or Sagat on Zangief, I'm looking for something different there. The retro-Bison sprite introduced in CVS was great, maybe we can get a retro/SSF2T-inspired Sagat sprite in SVC.

As for Morrigan, now that SNK is involved she should receive her first new sprite in over a decade, provided she's on the roster of course.

Edit: Gouki looks pretty ridiculous too... needs to lose the Halloween face and get back to his roots in SSF2T as well.

they don't look all that real, pretty good though. but they can do better than that on the neo, just look at MOTW.

These sprites are pretty nice.

Personally, I'd like to see a SFIV with Shinkiro's art, and this style of sprites in high frame animation.

Whenever Capcom does a CvS 3, I think it's time for them to turn Shinkiro loose on it and redraw those sprites. Tonko could do new SNK character art.

I wonder if they'll do new sprites. We learned from the way many of the sprites didn't 'fit' in CvS2 that they don't bother redrawing them anymore. Look at morrigan(sp?). It was pathetic!! I think that SNK could Kick Capcom's ass just by taking the time to have one artist re-work all the sprites in the game.

Personally, for SvC I think that they should go Mark Of the Wolves style and limit the character count. You'll get a better looking game, and then when they release SvC2 they'll be able to add new characters and dump the less popular, making the two games different and making it worth owning both, or all three if we're lucky :-)

How many times do you have to tell us they are fake? Does it say anywhere that they were supposed to be real?

the morrigan one looks real good. although they were already big, they gave her rack the mai treatment.

Well, I don't post much,
BUT,
wouldn't it be very helpfull
to Playmore to start a new
annual series.
What I mean is
SNK vs. Capcom 2002,
next year SNK vs. Capcom 2003
?
This way the first game could
start out with fewer characters
and great animaiton and artwork,
then each year a few characters
could be added. and with better
developed technology compression,
and programming, more characters,
better animation etc could be
achieved without horrible
compromises (example:KOF 01,although this
is a great game)
I'm sure this could be done
even without a ridiculously high
meg count

Does anyone agree?

Naw, Sagat is too skinny in the SF II games. His Zero sprite is what he's suppose to look like. Sagat is very muscular in most of his drawings.

Like I said earlier, this reminds me of that Chun-Li in KOF 2001 topic awhile back. Far better job this time around.

Better looks don't make a better game. Pity everyone doesn't realize this.

I can't disagree with you about his character art, artists like to exaggerate strength too much anyway. ;)

And even I don't want to go all the way back to ST, like I said I'm looking for something newer based on it, but I thought that the "wiry" build, even as a base, fits an insanely tall kickboxer better than heavy muscles. And I can't swallow the art on the muscles, there are simply places that you can't put them on a mobile human body.

For SVC I'm thinking something more like ST Sagat crossed with Ralph/Clark to add some build, then given more frames/fluid movement (which Sagat has never really had).

I agree, but at the same time fewer characters generally leads to better balancing. If Capcom had put a few more months (unlikely) into the development of CvS2 there wouldn't have been so many absolutely useless characters (Kyosuke anyone?). I would also prefer a smaller character list, perhaps not as small as Garou, but 8 characters on each side plus two bosses would be nice.

As for this art it looks cool but it's really just re-colored sprite rips. I hope SNK/Playmore would put more effort into it than that but at this point nothing surprises me.
