ROTD - Meg Count?

Since ROTD is out on MVS we should be able to determine how many megs it is. It is said that Metal Slug 4 is 564 megs but we don't know if this is 100% correct. The new chips on the boards are still in question. We don't know exactly what they can hold. Playmore would have to tell us what they are before we can be 100% sure of its meg count. The same probably goes for ROTD as it most likely uses the same board as MS 4. I would wager that it would be bigger than slug 4.

Since is has more added extras than MOTW, which is 688 megs, then wouldn't it be over 700 megs? I know that Playmore has made better use of the megs than SNK did in previous releases but still won't it be on the same page as MOTW or slightly larger? The sound memory total has also been increased so we should also factor that into the equation. Does anybody have any thoughts about this one way or another? :p

Playmore did never used better the Megs capacity than SNK. Look at any older slug vs Slug 4. :D

Hey, I am just stating what I heard from !Arcade!. They are the ones who brought up the whole "efficiency" thing with the new games. I think Slug 3 kicks Slug 4's ass but who am I to judge. Still I think that Playmore should start putting the meg counts back on the games. It always gave me a sense of pride to have a "major meg cartridge." :)

Someone owning the MVS should post pics of the boards so we'll be able to count.

I still don't know why you people care so much about MEG count... really, what the hell does it mean!?! So it is the biggest fucking neo game, who cares, doesn't how it plays/looks/sounds matter more?

I still don't get it... why ppl ever asking about the meg count of a game... I fully agree nick... this is only a number and nothing more... or do you value video games by according to its size??? hope not... so don't ask about this number and be happy that we can play such cool games like ROTD

The meg count means everything to me! I arrange my games by meg count and type so I must know the number. The bigger the meg count, the more I like the game. Even if it plays like crap, as long as the meg count is high I am happy with it. Some people have a problem with conversions or plastic bags but I have to know the meg amounts.

More important: has RotD been dumped and emulated yet? I can't wait to play it on my pc! ;)

I simply wanted to be the first to ask since a lot of people will come here asking within a few months...

I think people have been asking so much lately because...meg size is like dick size, the bigger it is, the better it's supposed to be. But that couldn't be farther from the truth.

This is true in most cases. I am obsessed with Eight Man and it is only 46 megs. I have been obsessed with meg sizes for years and since the games don't have the meg size on them anymore...it hurts my feelings.

Well. I got a time ago a boy in my class and asked for the MS4 meg count. I said:"some thing in the 500." And the boy said:"so low!?!, now I dont gonna by it anymore." Me:"He, it doens't matter how big the count is, but if its a fun game, how can ya see by the meg count if its a fun game, its almost the same as that you can see how many levels a game (GameCube) has by looking at the blocks you need for your memorycard."

And that is really dumb.

The Neo Geo memory card has 27 blocks of storage and is 2 Kbytes charged by an lithium ion battery. :)

Your just saying that cuz you have a small pecker... :(
Sorry I had to say it. I have to admit I love to know the meg size of my carts as well (and my penis for that matter :D ) But If a game has a high meg count and still sucks I'll still want the game. I want every Neo-Geo game that I can get my hands on small or big.

Little renforcemnts here.
The main reason I like to know the meg count is for my records. I have an inventory on all my video games and with Neo-Geo that is one of the things that I list.

Someone! Just open the damn MVS and take a look inside. Figure it out and tell us how many megs that thing is. I bet it is over 700 megs. What do you think?

I emailed Ray Young. Perhaps he can help us out. I sure he can find out the answer. :)

Check this out:

We have not seen ROTD as yet so have not had a chance to do a meg count.
When we receive our shipment of home carts we will certainly pop one and
take a count.

We have no desire to "fix the glitches" in our proto carts as they are now
in my private collection.

!Arcade!

Don't you want to give to the community? Why must you keep them for yourself? I am so sad and so drunk. Wby don't you use an MVS cart and check its meg count and tell us? If I had a proto cart, I would want to finish it up and make new carts to give to the neo community. Giving is more fun the receiving. :)

We also don't know what the state of these protos are in... I mean, they could only be a few levels or crash a lot or have major major problems that can't be "fixed" without the code and build environment... so in otherwords, they may be little more than just pieces of games in an almost unplayable state, you really want to drop a lot of money on that?
