SNK produces English MS3

SNK’s plan to re-release their hottest arcade hit on home cartridge is confirmed. This title was originally released June of 2000 and was produced only in Japanese format. SNK is now producing an English Metal Slug 3 for the North American market and is scheduled for release mid to late September.

Sales of this title will weigh heavily on the future of English Neo-Geo releases. If support for this English version release proves to be strong, we can expect future SNK home releases to be made available in English version.

Preorders are now being accepted. We strongly advise preordering to be guaranteed a copy upon release. Retail price for English Metal Slug is $285.

Production is limited to 500 copies. Wholesaler and retailer inquires are welcome. Please contact sales@neo-geo.com for further information.



*note The game Metal Slug 3 was completely developed & programmed by SNK CORP’s R&D staff, please update credits accordingly.

actually that is awesome news.

However I have a few mixed feeling about it.

obivously it is not a NGF release because of the color. But what concerns me is How this will effect NCS.

I mean I preorder from NCS back when it was being preordered and although I want to support future english release I can not see myself owning 3 metal SLug 3 carts (2 japanese and 1 english) they are cheap enough and I will order one. It is just a little sad because I think what will probably happen is when NCS puts out the request for payment on the japanese version they are carring a lot of people will cancel thier orders in favor of a US release. causing them to lose money and not want to sell a bunch again.

Unless of course you tell me shawn you worked out a deal with NCS and they are going to sell this version as well.

i know this is all business wise but if the same thing happens with sengoku 3 then what is going to happen to all those preoders.

I am in the same boat, Bruno. Myself, I think I am just going to bite the bullet and pay for both at this time. With only 500 English copies out there, the market for the Jap copy will still exist. Of course, when all is said and done, I will have 4 copies of this game!

My first Jap copy
An MVS copy
NCS rerelease
NG.com English release

OY! What am I gonna do with all these!

Hopefully, I can work something out in my head for Sengoku 3. I don't know about having 2 of those. Man, this is going to kill me.

Good points. Two things about that:

1) If NCS offers the English and lets us switch, I'll gladly do so. And, to go one step further, I'd buy one from them AND one from Shawn.

2) If NCS only offers the Jap one, I'd go through with it and then unload it later. There still won't be a ton of these carts out there, so it would recover most of its cost anyway.

Either way, I'll honor my preorder with NCS and also buy one from Shawn. This is TOO GOOD A GAME to pass up, and remember if we support it well, we WILL see MS4!!!!

I wouldn't bet on it. Knowing Dion, he'll claim the SNK release of the cart is the pirated version done by a United Arab Whatever company under the guise of SNK, and HE'LL have the REAL US cart.

NGF will try something, whether it be hoarding or destruction of other carts to mae 'exclusive' MS3's. Bet on it.

*sigh* I'm an MVS guy, I was hoping for a new new game.

It's definately cool that they'r releasing an English AES and we should buy it to support them but...well... *shrug*

Not preordering the NCS cart had me worried once they closed preorders. Now I am happy I will be able to get me a MS3 cart whatever the country! This is definately a good thing, cant wait to see what the future brings...

Well if nothing else, you could probably always sell one later.
Theres always going to be a few fans flat busted & missing the boat.
Who will have to pick it up at a later date.
