It will be able to play both AES and MVS games (home and arcade in the slight chance that you didn't know). It will have a seperate slot for each. It will come with a playstation style pad, and, last I heard, it is unconfirmed as to weather old Neo controllers will work. The price is unconfirmed, but will probobly be at least $600.

I thought the AES 2 would also be Jamma compatible so that one could hook it up to a Jamma cabinet for play--at least that is what has been rumored. I am not sure if that means you could play either MVS or AES games on a Jamma cabinet or just MVS? Anyway, I hope the price is closer to $300 as was rumored before.

Uh, where did you get $600? You must be smokin' the GOOD stuff, dude, that kind of price won't fly ANYWHERE. You'd get a handful of sales, thats it . . .

Better not to take wild guesses before the release, as you'll just create confusion.

i wont be the one to cause speculation..

under 400 (the price for their convertors
originally)
is the only one smoking the "good" stuff

its been discussed ad infinitum already, but this is exactly the reason why we will never see aesII come to production. There isn't going to be a mass market (even in the neo-geo forums) willing to spend $500+ on a system w/highly dated technology, and there isn't really a way to produce such a system at a price low enough to justify production costs. I believe new software (like metal slug 3, sengoku 3, and strikers) can succeed b/c of the already dedicated installed hardware base across the world (even though it is a relatively tiny niche), but new hardware that duplicates functions of already released hardware from 11+ years ago will never fly unless someone is interested in losing major cash. Just my opinion, i'd like to hear someone with a good arguement as to why im wrong, i'd personally buy an aes II just to have it.

Why does it matter how old it is?
Too this day, many people want neo's & still dont have them.

Altough this system may cost more (speculation) than current home cart systems.
It has the potential of being the cheapest route for many newcomers.

It will alow someone to buy a system, possibly at the same price or less than an CAB would cost.
Dunno, as I don't know the price.

Then they can buy games, either Home Cart or MVS.
Whichever is cheaper.
SamSho4 Hc -$300, MVS $-30.
Ya'll know the drill.

For a gamer interested in getting a neo,
this could be a huge $$$ saver.

Personally, I'd like to see the system cost in the 200-300 range.
I think that would be ideal, cost to value.
Although knowing the neo, i wont hold by breath in anticipation of what I consider a good price.

Here's the stats on the "AES 2" from the ad in GameGo! Magazine:

*MVS and AES Compatible
*Credit Active LED
*Audio/Video RCA Connectors
*Enhanced S-Video
*Adjustable Colour Control
*Digital Audio
*Expansion Port (IM?)
*JAMMA Cabinet Ready
*Language Selection: USA/Japanese/European
*Comes with Eight-Way/Eight Button Digital Controller with Rapid Fire and Slow Motion
COMING TO A RETAILER NEAR YOU

I read an article on a Neo fan site that the AES 2 was tenetivly priced at $350. This is probably a rumor, and should be treated as such. If the system comes out or not, it's all going to depend on how it's recieved at the Neo Summit. We're just going to have to see at the end of the month.

That seems interesting--should the AES 2 be able to create better graphics from AES and MVS cartidges based on enhanced S-video or color adjustments mentioned in the Gamego ad? Could the AES 2 include slightly updated hardware, etc. to generate better graphics from Neo Geo games than the original AES and MVS systems. It would be nice if the AES 2 could be tweaked to get even better performance from Neo games--a somewhat updated version for the next decade.
By the way, what would the expansion port mentioned in the Gamego ad be used for?

I don't know, 500 bucks doesn't sound that bad in the grand scheme of things. How much does an AES cost? 300 bucks? I think that's a fair estimate. How about a MVS to AES converter? Another 300 or so. So you're spending 600 bucks to get a machine that plays both AES and MVS games.

As my esteemed colleague, Nick_th_fury pointed out, there are still quite a few people without a Neo system (I myself, am one. I'm currently cab hunting as anyone who reads my posts is WELL aware of) a more frugal or casual buyer will pick up an used AES, but if properly educated I'm sure most if not all buyers can see the benefits of having the dual cart system...you save literally hundreds of dollars in games.

I think anymore than 500 is iffy, considering if you pick up an old AES and converter, you at least can get the old-style neo stick...which is, as anyone can tell you *even people who don't own a Neo*, the finest stick for any home system to date.

I see the big problem being that when the big 3 (Nintendo, Sony and Sega *sigh*) make or made consoles, they sold them at a loss, sometimes a very BIG loss. Never once in my retail experience did I see a console released that cost more than it cost to make.

They make their money on games, which is why stores make you bundle (it's bullshit, but you were gonna buy a game weren't ya?).

Food for thought.

Did you take a look at how much the converter goes for???? These people aren't cheap! And ECM, the editor of GameGo, said that considering all you get, the price isn't bad, or something like that. I took that to mean that it aint gonna be cheap.
