I know a fellow who is a little eccentric from NY. He does check this message board sometimes so I'll leave at he is a nice guy also. I am a store manager of a video game store in DE where he works at now and he comes in and buys multiple copies of games, but only if they have the top stickers perfectly lined up and the boxes and instructions are mint. He bought six crazy taxi once. Anyway, he mentioned that he was a neo fan and he would get convertered carts, etc. etc. He said he got a prototype game from Brazil? on ebay for someone whose relative worked at SNK. It was in a homecart shell and it was called Fun Fun Bros. He said it was some kind of cops and robbers game. I don't think he would lie but has anyone ever seen it. I thought I heard of protypes like this before. Are there any others? What are they worth to the neo collector?

He's officially lying.

Fun Fun Brothers was a puzzle game, and the prototype has been in an American collection for quite a while now.

Also, for anyone interested.

Fun Fun Brothers was not made by SNK. It was made by Alpha. That hampers the 'magic bullet/snk relative' theory.

Blaine, I would buy any prototype game for the neo geo. This is a full version game that was never released. What is the 'magic bullet/snk relative' theory?

In Ralfakick's first post he says...

He said he got a prototype game from Brazil? on ebay for someone whose relative worked at SNK.

Fun Fun Brothers wasn't made by SNK. So it's unlikely that it would have been in their office.

And I'd buy any proto game too, I'm all about that but what I'm saying is that the Brazilian chap is probablly lying.

First it's a puzzle game, not a cops and robbers game and second it IS in a collection, I'm not sure about an American one...I thought I saw it there. So I don't think we'll see it for sale, and if you do caveat emptor (sp).

What you guys don't know is that Fun Fun Bros. IS a puzzle game with a cops and robbers theme, and the only known owner lives in New York. So this guy could be him. I know who it is, but no need to reveal publicly.

Geddon_jt do you think they would sell it? Probably not, but it's worth a try.

I have seen video of the game in action, I would love to have the game. Blaine, SNK could have the game because SNK was the main producer of the game boards and shells for the games. Also I think most developers submitted there work to SNK, so that SNK could mass produce their games. So someone at SNK could have taken it and sold it.

I always love it when some new member pops up out of nowhere claiming to "Know" someone with the holy grail

It's so easy to say "Know" cause then they can back pedal if found to be full of shit.

No offense to this poster, but thats what it seems like.

That's a No.
The person Geddon_jt is refering to is known to me.
That is to say, I know his name, but have never met him.
However, I do know he has absolutly no intrest in selling his game.

You can find his name easily enough if you dig, but you won't get it from me.
Or you can take my advice, Don't.
You can be sure he's been pestered a lot in the past over his FFB cart.
So I respect hs privacy, & hope ya'll do the same.

Nick_th_fury is 100% right.

The owner has no intentions of selling, and even worse, no intentions of letting the game get dumped for others to play. He is not a part of the online neo scene.

The game originally sold on ebay for $30, about 5 years ago.

Drift King, I don't talk out of my ass on such things. =)

I was referring to Ralfakick, the starter of this thread, not you.

And wow 30 dollars. 5 years ago tho the neo scene was pretty much just the HARDCORE players, it wasn't all "Hyped" up on the net and with all the price jackers.

If that FFB cart was put on eBay today I could see it getting 2 grand easily. And the sad part is they'd be paying 2 grand for a game they'd probly play for 20 mins.

I _think_ that was Pak Attack.

My opinion is the screenshots of it were fake, I just don't trust that start screen. It seems way to high-res. I could be wrong though.

I would love to play the game... it is a shame really. I love puzzle games, and being Italian... I am also big into the whole mobster thing hehe so this is right up my alley. Oh well, maybe another will pop up someday... by the way, was this proto an MVS or home cart?

the fact that an american collector has a fun fun bros don't prove that the other guy is lying.
nobody know how many protos were produced to test, or to show in different events.
And i think that all neo geo games released, produced by, adk, visco, every programmers had been shown to snk before to be get in store.
it'z the reason an old snk employee can have a adk proto, or a nazca proto.

nobody knows.

To Drift King EX
This is in response to one of your replies claiming for me to be in the "know," and a neebie who would try to back pedal if I am wrong. (I participated in Dolphinlords forum, and have ordered from Shawn or have won games off of some of you.) Well I don't know and that is why the section is called news and thats right rumors. I did in fact talk to this person from New York and he is a collector who has to have everything. I have been a neo fan for years (blah, blah you know the rest) but I have never heard of such a thing as Fun Fun Bros. and I was simply asking my peers if they knew more. I know a lot about neo but do not know everything and was looking for an answer. I do not have any reason to believe that this man is lying but he is not someone who is exactly a friend but I am not going to back pedal and until I get I clear response I am going to believe he is telling the truth. I also do not have the cart so it is not mine to sell anyway, I was just looking for and answer. Thank-you

I am going to believe he is telling the truth.

I agree, it is of course in the realm of posibility.
I go with my insticts, & I respect your decision to do the same.

I'm sorry we don't have more info on this rare game.

Unfortunatly, no one that activly posts on this BBS has a copy, nor has even played it.
(To my knowledge)

My suggestion to you, would be to politly request the collector to VHS copy himself playing the game onto a VHS tape for you.

Many collectors love to showcase their collections, as part of the "Fun" of collecting.

If he would be kind enough, then that would give you more info on the game than you'll probably ever get here.

If your guy is named Larry B. he's the one who bought Fun Fun bros from ebay more than 3 years ago.
He's an amazing Neo Geo collector, he really does have everything (afaik)

This is to Adol and everyone the person that I know he is in fact named Lawrence and I believe Larry is short for that. I double checked it with someone that I worked with. This person is in fact from New York City but is working down in Delaware for the time being or something that I do not know. I also would very much love to ask him if we could video tape it, but I agree with an earlier post that he is a very private person, and is a large neo collector, and being that he does buy usually 3 or more copies of games he problably doesn't even play it. You can take this for what it is worth but thats all I can say. Again I was just talking neo with him and he mentioned that he had this. Maybe the Brazilian thing was me putting things into his mouth because I did read something online about carts being shown there first and he just shook his head yes or said right or something. That is the only thing I can say maybe was wrong, but the rest of my comments I stand fully behind and still have no reason to believe he is lying (because why would he.) I just thought that asking everyone if they had heard of such a thing, which some of you did in fact say that this was a new one on me. I also may have glanced at it online doing a search on neo web pages, but it did not register. I really don't care that much anyway because it is something I will problably never play, but I just thought that this would be an interesting thing to pose for discussion. Thank-you
