I sent some games to Ray Young at Arcade
and according to him someone has opened the carts? What could customs search for in a
videogame? This sound strange??has this shit
ever happened to you? and what can I do
to solve this problem if customs say they are
innocent???

Unfortunately sometimes happen...
Now with terroristic problems, it will probably happen more often...
There's nothing we can do, it's legitimate for them to inspect packages...

YES! My Shocktroopers AES from !ARCADE! had been opened on the outside envelope, the inner cart box, and the snap case! It had yellow "Opened by U.S. Customs" tape all over it. Not a big deal, but jeez , you would think no one there had ever seen a Neo cart and couldn't believe it was actually a video game.

I remember buying a SS2 cart from Wing Zero. It never even got to my house as it was returned to his. The cart was missing, the case ruined and the instrctions were pretty fucked to from what he told me. Wing Zero was cool enough to refund my cash. Cool guy.

Luckily, NeoBomberman had a nice copy for me.

I received one shipped recently from Saudi Arabia, and it was opened too. They left the packing materials out, but the games arrived OK.

Yep harry hazard, they do if you don't ship EMS. Make sure to specify it as a gift, then they'll let it be but as soon as they spot an invoice (i.e 'faktura' ) they'll not only check out the contents but they'll add tax aswell.

Yeah, customs in Spain are opening all parcels since the attack to NYC. They kept my MS3 3 days at the customs and they even missed the manual so I had to phone UPS to bring it to me, and the also opened last week my MOTW cartrige and stained the manual with oil or something like that

Customs are dicks. When I bought AOF3 from the Neo Store in Thailand, I noticed the package had tape on it that said "inspected by customs". Fortunately, everything was in tact, but sometimes I wonder...what if I wasn't so lucky.

I never did receive my 'now out of print' Robocop Criterion Edition DVD from DVD box office in Canada. I hate customs. It also took them 6 weeks to clear my DC Garou/GBA Advance Wars package from NCSx.

And I'm still waiting for Golden Sun.

What pissed me of was the fact i had a mvs full kit of kof 2000 delivered to me which had been through customs, not only had the cart box been damaged(not sure if they did it or not)but it had been opened,
but i was also charged custom charges of £50 ie 70 dollars because the parcel had been insured for the right amount if it got lost,so instead of paying $280 with insurance(which would have been a good deal)i had to pay $350 which is not such a good deal
and all because of these terrorists it was searched

Can anybody (especially UK members) please tell how the hell UK customs operate in general on import software? I've had some nasty suprises in the past when the bloke from UPS has arrived with my gear and then demanded 50+ quid for "import tax".
Is there any way to avoid the tax or at least pay less? It's really destroying a lot of the value of importing NG software from the US.

The sender must put on the package docs that it contains a gift, a used videogame software and put a total value amount of $15/20, this way you shouldn't have problems... you shouldn't...

Actually, specifying it as a gift should be enough, insurance is insurance, I bet they wouldn't add tax to a wedding-gown sent by a mother to her daughter worth $3000 now would they? (although insured)

Are you kidding? HM Customs & Excise would tax the dress, the mother, the bride, AND the groom given half the chance.

Thanks anyway for your tips so far... keep 'em coming...

The problem is,if you have paid 300 bucks for a game you want it insured,so if its insured for $300 and customs open it they are going to sting you, like i got stung.if you only have it put down as a $20 they wont bother as its not worth their while, but then if the game gets lost in transit you can only claim 20 back,so its a no win situation.
