I recieved a scan from an anonymous person (not dion or chris) of a US KoF 2k with a US insert, pre-freaking.

Here is the URL:

<a href="http://akirayoshi.home.mindspring.com/kof2000.jpg" target="_blank">KoF2kUS, as hosted by the one and only President Rare</a>

I was given this on the condition that I not show this to anyone. The source is a good NGF customer, but would not part with this cart at any price. He didn't want anyone too see it for fear of damaging his relation with NGF, along with discrediting them. However, I feel it will serve the greater good to post it for all to see.

I have sent it to three different people, all very good with digital images, and each one has given me the result that it is in all likleyhood real.

Could it be fake? Possibly. Could it be real? Again, it's possible. What does it mean for us? Absolutely nothing. If there was a real US version, it is now and forever unattainable to the general public. If it is real it is another nail in the NeoGeoFreak coffin.

If it is fake, it is no loss. There is still the mountiain of evidence that shows the "production" version to be a reprint. I hope to god it is fake. That would mean that there never was a real KoF2kUS. If it is real, I weep openly at what might have been.

I would like to end this by saying, I do not actually own this copy. I only have the scan. Please, no flames about me and NGF beying friends.

Well, I'm giving up my "giga shock" to post here but I want to say something.

If this is legit, could this be more rare than Euro Kizuna?

I've heard from one person that he has a real one and it was bought direct from SNK USA before they went under. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but I've dealt with him on several occasions and he's been accurate about everything else.

The person I got this from wishes to remain anonymous, and I am going to respect that and notname names.

If there is only one or two copies, they will not be leaving the hands of the owners. I am honoring the owners request to not give out his name. KoF2k US should not have any talk of value associated with it. Dion and Chris will use it as spin to enhance thier own shit version.

It is a plain fact that I came across 3 persons claiming to have kof 2000US NOT freaked.

It is too simply to do though-by photoshop.
Just pull away the NGF url and that's it.

The mighty Assflounder could make tons of perfect NOT freaked kof 2000 US!

Anyone else notice that it says Nefarious Gladiator Festival (With initials in Caps)? NGF? Kinda strange coincidence.

Hate to say it,
but a low res pic like that means jack shit.

Offset Presses leave traces, easily tracked.
Much like fingerprints.
It's not possible to see them on a pic like that.
Even an rank ametuer could easily fake an insert at that res.

If u want to proove a point, I recommend scanning the insert at say 300ppi @200%.
With no retouching what so ever.
Then post it.

If its a true scan, which wouldn't surprise me, it confirms that the freak duo ruined the English KOF2K home cart. Their big display of the "official SNK printing plates" at their site doesn't prove anything, because anyone can have those kinds of plates made up pretty cheap (I had them done for an Amiga fanzine I did a while ago, and they were quite cheap).

Hey, but just remember the KOF2K "English NGF" home cart is worth $1500, according to Chris, so GET OUT THERE AND BUY ONE FAST WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!

Jigen,
Seeing as we discussed this in chat I'll repeat what i said here. As far as the majority is concerned, That is a fake until people with serious credibilty like Big Bruno, Jeff Kurtz or Nick_th_Fury can themselves confirm it is legit.

With this in mind, I would suggest you tell this person to send the game to Nick and have him prove it's a legit copy. Otherwise it's a bunch of hopeful bullshit....

WTF? Before SNK USA went under? Vihn, SNK USA was fucking closed WAY before this title was out. If this is the case why wasn't there a Slug 3 U.S. before the re-release?

Whoever told you that is smokin a serious bowl and needs to get the fuck off of it. Garou: Mark of the Wolves was the LAST Title released by SNK USA before they shut their doors.

God some people are so fucking full of it I swear...

You know I'll even go a step fucking further with this.

Garou Mark of the Wolves was released in the U.S. around Aug 99 if I remember.

The original release of Metal Slug 3 was out in June of 2000?

And Finally The King of Fighters 2000 was released on AES in December of 2000.

How the fuck would this guy get ahold of a fucking U.S. KoF 2K from SNK USA when their office doors were closed WAY before that AES cart even saw the light of fucking day.

You tell whoever told you he had a KoF 2K U.S. AES cart from SNK USA that I said he is full of fucking bullshit and needs to quit spreading lies.

I noticed that myself... something's fishy here. It's a rather good description for them, all things considered, but why would it appear on a cart? ("We're the Nefarious Gladiators," they say with a lisp... <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> )

It is a comprimised scanned insert of kislofg's(spelling) KofF2000US. Just look for some identical scan flaws. Is your "friend" a loner?

I think that insert is A fake. it looks like the guy just took the NGF url box out (hence the gap in between the text) and did not bother to move the fine print above and below the box to get rid of the empty space. all I know is that spoon man was printing up some english KOF 2000 inserts just like this that were eccellent and sported extremily high print quality.
