Brace yourself:

To 08.08.02 appears in Japan King OF Fighters 2000 of Playmore. Meanwhile several Japanese dealers however already accept vorbestellungen for the successor King OF Fighters 2001: The flogging play is to be published again by Playmore and delivered in December 2002.

ncsx confirms this. As I thought. Treasure was just giving the arcade operators more time to make money. There was never a doubt in my mind. Makes too much sense given it's Treasure and the Dreamcast is practically dead. VERY good news.

NCS was full of shit the first time they took pre-orders. How do you expect them to confirm anything on this subject after that?

I'll believe it when I see it in stock. No use getting worked up over MORE rumors.

Magazines are always wrong about shit, it's no more credible than a Game Site reporting something, it's just it's printed on a news stand.

Some of the comments I see are really sad:

[quote]Maybe I won't be trading my DC in after all...<hr></blockquote>

You havn't found anything to play on Dreamcast in it's 4 years out besides waiting for Ikaruga? I don't think you should own one period then...

I doubt anyone here has actually played the game in arcades, for all you know it could be the worst Treasure game ever made, extremely short, or anythings possible. Treasure Makes bad games too (McDonalds).

It's coming whether you think mags are shit or not. NCSX took preorders based on a sku. Turns out the date was wrong for reasons explained by the Radiant Silvergun fiasco. It's coming out a year after it hit the arcades, exactly when it was originally expected.

whoever said that they were thinking about trading in the DC is an idiot, games like Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia, MOTW make me want to own a DC, IMO Shenmue 2 was the best game ever created, man the atmosphere was great in that game... :)

Somehow I get a good feeling it'll be released, but I ain't exactly holding my breath, either. Hopefully NCS' next update is some kind of an official confirmation.

I am just going to take a "wait and see" stance. Treasure's website is still strangely silent on the matter. There does seem to be a new 23 meg movie for download called Ikaruga Chapter 2 but I can't connect with the server. I don't know if that was the same movie everyone was posting before but I'll let you know. I didn't know Dorimaga was still in print.

Drift King,

I actually had a chance to play it in the arcades and it was pretty solid. The graphics were awesome and the shields play mechanic was pretty cool. It was actually pretty difficult switching shields and trying to remember which one you had activated while dodging bullets. It could get pretty frantic.

The new Dodonpachi update was more enjoyable, but this game was right up there.

Still hoping for a DC release.

sorry Drift King EX,but i canot agree on this with some of your points !!

McDonalds was a great game !
even when made for the McDonalds company,it was one of the really first treasure games and as a new company they needed the cash !
but besides that, the gameplay is cool and especialy in the higher levels the game shows what it gots !!

and ikaruga rocks !!

i do not know how many people her have played it,but i have !!

and i think it's one of the best shooters ever !
great gameplay with the color change system, gives them all some tactic !

level design is one of the best !
the color system get used extremly,i have come only to level 4 but...damn..this game becomes hard !
and not only that...alot of opsticals in your way, great !

music,if someone liked the radiant silvergun soundtrack...you will love this one !

i realy hope it comes out,it will became a legend like the rs !!

i love my dreamcast and of course the games that have been here mention !

and this one...would be great !!

otherwise...naomi board !!!
:)

Peace !!!!!!

It's a NAOMI based shooter...from what I gather its the closest thing to a Radiant Silvergun sequel we're going to get. From reviews, it's a spectacular...amazing game. Like Drift King assumed, I never played it; but word on the streets is...its just beautiful. It's also made by Treasure...in case you haven't picked that up.

It's got [what i consider] innovative shield system, where enemies shoot projectiles that're either red or black....depending on the color of your shield [which you can change at any time] you can absorb those shots. So, it keeps you on your feet.

Lots of people know way more about this than me...so chime in!

I thought...everyone knew about it <img src="graemlins/eek2.gif" border="0" alt="[Eek 2]" /> Anyway, Ikaruga is the prequel/sequel/whatever...it's a shooter made by Treasure and is being played on the Naomi board. IMO it is not a pre/sequel because it uses a black/white...energy-capture-weapon system (think Mars Matrix and throw in Silouette Mirage (spelling?)...). Although it does use the same 2D/3D background scaling effects found in Radiant Silvergun the story (not sure?) has nothing to do with RS. Supposedly Ikaruga is the RS of the DC = game'n nirvana. Anyone, please fill in the blanks or correct me if I'm wrong :D

Taken from madman's cafe: <a href="http://www.mmcafe.com" target="_blank">Madman</a>

"Namae No Nai Heya) Treasure Co. has made an official announcement through Softbank Publishing's "Dreamcast Magazine" of their decision to release a DreamCast port of their arcade shooting game, Ikaruga.

Originally released for the Sega Naomi system, Ikaruga is currently 99% complete for port to the Dreamcast. Commented by Treasure president Masahito Maekawa, a "Prototype game" is included as a bonus in the DC port, playable by beating the game without any continues.

Ikaruga for the Sega Dreamcast, is scheduled for release in September 5th, priced 6800 Yen. For images of the article, check Namae No Nai Heya's top section."

This is looking better and better. If you check the source site's section, there is a pic of the magazine interviewing Treasure's top dog.

I wish I could read more of the article but the print is too small and the pic is blurry. They are indeed interviewing MaeKawa though. The tagline at the bottom says "Why is Ikaruaga now coming out on the DC? As for that..." If someone has this magazine and can get me a high quality scan so I could see all the text, I could tell everyone what it says. Like I said, I didn't even know Dorimaga was still in print.

It is video of stage 2 and let me say I am even more psyched. After watching the first vid, I thought it looked too easy. After watching this one I realize that whoever is playing it is making it LOOK easy. Treasure's server must be really bogged right now because I am on a dedicated high speed line at work and it still took me danm near half an hour to d/l it. NCS updated saying if you didn't cancel your original pre-order, you don't have to place another. The price has gone up from $53 to $60. If you cancelled your pre-order, you can place another one now. I am glad I kept the faith and left my original pre-order intact. Oh, and from the way NCS is talking, they are going to be ordering a load of the game. I wouldn't rest on my laurels though, cause you never know what can happen.

Sorry that I can't share your enthusiasm on that but the big black bars on the sides plain suck...
Since it's a vertical game there should be a screen rotation option or else the whole thing is crap... is such an option available?

Probably.. most vertical shooters i played could be set to widescreen or vertical or horizontal with bars. (Geki-Oh on psx springs to mind.)

I think it says that there is the option to rotate the screen on the Treasure website.

Hope that they remove the slowdowns from the NAOMI Version.

Those black bars on the side, from the pics, seem frigging huge. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited. I can't exactly rotate my T.V. though, seeing as it is 56"
Can't you damage your T.V. if you put it on its side anyway?

You can damage it if you aren't careful, I think... You have to flip it when it is cooled down and is turned off.

I don't mess with that stuff, however...

All vertical Saturn arcade shooter ports have the black bars on the sides, and they also have a mode that lets you play the game horizontally. Most even fix the control so that up moves the ship up, and right moves it forward. I never use this mode though, it doesn't feel like playing a vertical game. And yeah... I would highly not recommend turning your TV on it's side. You can seriously fuck it up. I have a commodore monitor that I use for my vertical JAMMA games, and I have that resting on a fluffy bed of blankets where absolutely no pressure is being placed against the screen, and it's still a little messed up. So flip your TV at your own risk, if it's really worth breaking a TV to see a game a little better, your priorites are a bit messed up if you ask me...

This game is gonna rock. I'm gonna preorder it now.

I am pretty much used to the bars myself. I just thought I read somewhere that you could cause damage to your tube.

Of course, you can damage any CRT TV, but if you don't have a peice of shit TV and don't drop it, you'll be fine. I don't really get why so many people are against it, it's completely fine to do: just unplug TV, flip, let sit for good half hour or so, and plug it back in and play.

i think it may very well come out around this time, I buy arcade games from a distributor here in kentucky, he has ikaruga on route somewhere in lousville at a arcade and he said that he would sell it to me after october,,,,I didn't ask why he was going to sell it in october and wouldn't sell it any sooner though.
