I want to buy Sengoku 2 and KOF 99 (even though I have DC version, I can't resist the almighty Neo Geo cart). Which one should I definitely get? Frankly speaking, I dont' like first Sengoku because it's boring. But I did remember I saw Sengoku 2 screenshots from Gamefan years ago and it looked cool. Anyone? How about KOF99? I've seen lots ppl didn't list it as top games of their choice....should I get it again?

I'd say go with KOF 99. You get tons of replay out of KOF games, that and the fact that KOF 99 is recent, hence being more likely to sport what the Neo is capable of. Sengoku 2 looks cool as hell (I got it coming on cart hopefully today), but if you absolutely had to go with one or the other, my opinion would be KOF 99.

I owned Sengoku 2, and the gameplay is the usual adventure fare, like riding horese at pt. But, morphing into another persona is a nice feature. Parry option is cool too. Graphic and music is ok, but not that good. Games like Revenge of Shinobi (?) & Shinobi 3 for Genesis are much better ninja games.

KOF 99 is better game in my opinion. But, you already have the DC version, and the game can be finished very fast (even if fightinh Kyo/Iori). So...

So Sengoku 2 is a so-so game......
The reason why I don't like first Sengoku is because the characters have stiff animations. Repetitive enemies and all you do is chop, chop, slash, slash. Nothing really attracts me. I played it at arcade and it was okay. I bought cart version and sold to someone one day later. I bought CD version and traded for something else. Therefore now I want to try Sengoku 2 but I'm afraid I'll not like it (I've heard the background and bosses are awesome....)
As far as KOF99, DC version has small character size comparing to Neo. Plus Neo cover is cool and looks awesome (with over 600Meg.....woooooo)

Although I'm not a huge KOF fan, I own Sengokug 2 and I must say . . . it weak. I like the first one well enough, a little repettitive, but full of Japanese folklore. The second one is BIZARRE! Just wierd & boring, and did I mention short? Short as hell. Whatever you do, don't buy this one unless you are a die-hard collector, or a die-hard beat-em-up fan.
Have fun with KOF 99

Okay, I played Sengoku 2 for about an hour, and thought I'd give you my first impressions of it. Now keep in mind as you read this that these are all first impressions and are subject to change later, in other words, I'm not etching anything in stone by talking right now.

First off, I agree with artoffighting, this game is bizarre, no two ways about that. It comes across as a super heroish/time-traveling tale rather than rely heavily on Japanese folklore like the first one. A few highpoints include:
. Improved graphics over the first
. The music stays pretty true to the first
. Game speed is stepped up a few notches

Lowpoints include:
. All hacking and little to no punching and kicking. I liked the first where you had to earn weapons rather than just keep 'em.
. Your alter-egos are appointed to you right off. Again, you don't seem to have to earn much on this one.
. It doesn't have the heavy Japanese feel of the first one, which was very innovative for it's time and should've remained a staple of this one.
. The arch nemesis looks like he just escaped a Marvel or DC comic. Not knocking American pop culture here, I just can't understand why SNK went this way with the title. I mean, it's Sengoku, not Mutation Nation or Robo Army, it's not supposed to be outlandish and off the wall like those games.

Yeah, if you didn't care for the first one, definitely skip this one. Me, I loved the first one, so as it stands I'm sorta' let down with part 2. I hope it'll grow on me a little more as I keep playing it.

Sengoku 2 is more of the same as Sengoku 1
No comments on KoF99 - have not played it on Neo. I could not afford KoF99 and KoF2k at the same time. I picked KoF2k.

Can some one help me decide too?

What should I get, Metal Slug or Strikers 1945 2?

I would go for KOF '99 over Sengoku 2. I would also go with Metal Slug over Strikers 1945 2. I think almost anybody would tell you Metal Slug is totally awesome and worth the money. I don't know much about Strikers 1945 2, I never have played it or even seen it, so... I can't really tell you anything good or bad about it. But I can tell you from experience that Metal Slug is killer and lots of fun. And as for the first two games in question, Sengoku 2 isn't very fun, but the animations are better than the first. KOF '99 is not as good as some of the other KOF installments, but it is a rocking good time. The replay value for KOF '99 far exceeds that of Sengoku 2 as well.

That's a given: Metal Slug would be the better choice of the two. Metal Slug has the best control, graphics, and sound on the Neo-Geo today. My only complaint?
There is no replay value unless you have someone to play with you (MS is much better
with a second player; you and a friend can spend hours playing because the game is
more intense in 2-player mode).

Which do you prefer the most: Contra-style gameplay (Metal Slug) or traditional
shoot-'em-ups (Strikers 1945). This should be easy to answer...

I thought Striker 1945 2 is the same game as Saturn/PSX version, right?
I'll go over Metal Slug than any other game

Go with Strikers 1945 2/+/whatever you want.

Metal Slug, the first one, is my favourite of the four, yet they all suffer from lack of replay value. The game is easy enough that soon you should make beat the first two missions on only one life for example. It has the serious feel to it the rest of the series sorely lacks, but when you compare it to the incredibly intense shooting frenzy that is Strikers 1945 +, which has a much higher difficulty level and a generally more addicting genre, add in the absolutely super graphics & sounds and then take into account the fun factor, you'll get a lot more replay out of it. No offense to the series, but Metal Slugs just get boring too quickly. Only MS3 slightly breaks from this with its multiple paths.
