I don't think Homeslice's Review is worthy of Neo-Geo.com -and that's my perogative as editor of the review's page. Is that open to some arguement, sure... that's what free speech is all about. And Gui put it up, so it has been posted somehwhere... BUT:

I tried to explain (in both the chatroom and the forum, see the first link) to Homeslice that he can write a better review with the same opinion and I'll post it, but he decided no to listed and told me that "he hates to write." <IMG SRC="smilies/smirk.gif" border="0">

That was something that is totally unacceptable on the net. Some people on this forum make their livings off of their computers. Hurting those can cost individuals a lot of lost work and money.

This kid had not only made an example of a pathetic review, he's made an example of how you can take something as fun as the net and take things too far.

This is something that people should know. I thought everybody here knew that, but I guess I was wrong.

Why is this being complained about here? No explanation needed. IMO this person should be banned from the board ASAP, end of story.

Good lord. What a waste of the few seconds of my life that it took to read that "review." If the review section became filled with such nonsense, it would never be read. And by "nonsense," I am not referring to the negative opinion expressed. If a game is to be reviewed, it should not sound like the adolescent ranting of some inarticulate child. Now, I do not believe Homelice to be a child, as I have seen him create a number of posts that made plenty of sense and did not resort to the last bastion of the terminally brain dead; non-stop swearing.

If one hates to write, then one should not be writing reviews. The word "writing" is actually used to describe the process. So, basically, Bobak! is being attacked for NOT posting a review of little worth, due to its inarticulate nature, by a person that, evidently, hates writing (there's that word again) it in the first place.

Please, Bobak!, should there be subsequent submissions to the review section such as this, be they positive (THIS GAME ROX0RS!!!) or negative (see Bobaks! links), weed them out with all possible speed.

And LWK...oh LWK...dude. Why are you even here? I've talked to you a few times on IRC. You seem like a nice enough guy. I usually only have to read the first couple of sentences of your post to know which one of the few in your arsenal you have chosen to use. Bobak! is trying to make the reviews section into something that people are interested in reading and checking on for new content. If I found two or more reviews of the ilk that started this whole thread, I'd never go back. Such "reading" is a waste of my time.

Man, I'll tell you what.

The ONLY Worms we oughta see are either on Fear Factor or the kick-ass video game. That's IT.

Sending Worms and Virii is really lame. Ushually the sign of a very immature kid.

However it's pretty easy to protect yourself from them. Set your mail client to not download emails over a certain size (5k ushually does it).

And as long as you don't run anything, your safe.

But just the fact that he DID send it, means he wouldn't have cared about the damage it could have done. Oh well, he'll get a virus some day that will fck him up bad, and make him have to format.

He obviously downloaded this virus from a site, or got it from someone, so he may be infected already. Since I seriously doubt he made it, as far as I know homeslice is like 14 or 15.

If it was a email addy made to look like him that sent you the worm then it may not have been him.
I solely disagree with this virus BS, it ruins the inet for everyone, and makes people paranoid.
There are however many mediums to getting this off your back.
Bobak I suggest you get the hardest anti viral material available.
You will not regret it.
This I can assure you.
Most of these viruses are conducted through email so in my opinion the best thing to do would be to delete your PC available email and sign a hotmail account, to the best of my knowledge its safer.
In fact I know someone in chat who wiped there email from existance due to this crap.
As drift king stated, if you block a certain size amount out, they wont be able to transfer to you.
That is a great way to rid yourself of a nightmare since these worms etc, are decently large in size.
Just do not expect to get photos through email anymore, or you could remove the block to the emails you know are specified photos.
There is always a way around this thing.
Now if only I could change my worldnet email addy, I hate it so much.

I vouch for the Bobak bashing, I have got mad at Shawn as well.
However I do not fight with Geddon, and where you get this idea is beyond me.

I post less then I used to.
Its not because I hate this place or "Want it burnt to the ground"
Its because there is SO many arguments, even mine (as a very debatable person) get lost in other people's whining.
I barely talked to you through IRC.
No longer do I use IRC, I only enjoyed it due to the copy and paste option, in which I could post links. The direct chat from ng.com is much more enjoyable IMO.
And no I am not a nice guy, nor am I a mean guy. I cannot stereotype myself to one category as nice or mean, because each would meet on equal terms.

I make my choices, I cannot always be nice or mean.
I consider myself neutral in certain situations.
I can forgive just about anyone on the inet, even if they hacked me.
Here are my reasons.
1) Its the inet, its full of good and bad people, regardless of there attitudes they are all different, in order to coexist with them you must understand where there coming from.
I speak my mind, hell if I get pissed at Bobak! I do not close the lid, I tell him.
I have been flamed a shit load of times, to me a flame is just another opinion.

Conveying emotions on the inet, is EXTREMELY limited.
Now see things in this light.
I may agree or may disagree, and that's a rare quality.
I give credit to very few people I have met on these boards, not because they are ancient in the scene, not because they have more games.
I do because I like to argue, I also like people that speak there minds, whether it be bad or good.

I do however find this bringing of my name with few avid points to be saddening.
I will post as much as I like, you cannot control that, and this attack on me has got nothing accomplished.

The saddest aspect on the whole about the inet is, there is little chance you will meet the people on the other side.

If I were you, instead of always acting like the innocent persecuted one, step back and look at what you're creating here, and make changes if necessary. Bobak, you are in charge of the reviews. Everyone should know this and accept that you are lord and master over that domain.

If Bobak doesn't like a review he doesn't have to post it. Simple as that. Now, if Homeslice is upset that he was publicly put up for ridicule for having his review displayed for everyone to see and feels he has to retaliate, that's one thing. But it should be done in the thread pertaining to that review. That is the place to state your case, and no other (with the possible exception of 'Suggestions').

Does Stephen King firebomb the publisher when they tell him to do a re-write? Does Oliver Stone kick down the door of the movie studio when they tell him his film's too long or too vulgar? I'm sure they WANT to, and while the comparison of Stone or King to Homeslice is an extreme one, I think it also accurately makes its point.

They may get mad about it, they may even SAY something about it in public, but they don't resort to retaliatory actions that don't even attempt to solve the problem at hand. Sending a virus because you're mad at someone is WAY out of line. Computers aren't cheap and it takes a lot of time to get them where you want them in terms of performance and software, and you wouldn't like it if it was done to you. So don't do it to others. You have a problem with someone, you go after the person, get in their face and air it out. You don't go after their friends, family, loved ones or property. Period.

And sorry, Homeslice. No personal affront intended, but it's not a good review. If I read that on a site somewhere, I wouldn't take it seriously because it is far too venomous and biased to be, in my eyes, an objective quantification of the subject of review. It may have been somewhat harsh of Bobak to make an example of you publicly, but from where I stand the only thing that resulted of it was a bruised ego. You don't kill someone's mother because they slapped yours.

Of course, all of this might not mean anything. Homeslice could be innocent of sending the virus, as LWK's suggesting. If that turns out to be the case, I'll humbly apologize for my negative comments towards Homeslice at that time.

Computer viruses are serious business, and while I normally stay out of these pissing contests, reading this made me very upset and I felt I had to add my own perspective it.

Bobak is in charge of reviews. Anybody doesn't like it or the way he handles it, make a thread in 'Suggestions' talking about it in a respectful and petitioning manner. State your case intelligently to Shawn and see what he has to say. This is the country of Neo-Geo.com, and Shawn is the king. He has the power to make those decisions, and if you make enough sense he'll probably act accordingly. But if your case is weak (or if you've retaliated by sending self propogating viruses to peoples' computers), don't expect to get what you want.

Most of these worms propagate by sending themselves to everyone that you have e-mail from in your In-Box, or everyone in your Address Book. If this is one of those, like the SirCam Virus, then we only need to ask if anyone else that exchanges e-mail with HOMESLICE also received it. If no, that strengthens the argument on the side of a direct attack from him. If several of you did receive something similar though, then it could just be synchronicity.

I don't no him from adam. After seeing his tantrum, insulting Bobak.
I felt it was obvious that he meant to do that. Sometimes we judge a book by its cover.
No virius, worm, trojan ever made locks onto a target's email address book,
then just picks Bobak's address to attack.
That's not possible, so if Hslice cares to have anyone other than yourself believe him.
Then I feel an explanation is in order.
I dont feel thats to much to ask.

A friend of mine works at Mcafee and any worm nowadays can email it'self out. Homeslice may not know he is infected. But at this point, here is another theory. If he has emailed other people, what people talk to homeslice on email? THat would be a quick solve. If no one else got a worm or virus, that may solve your problem too. If he talks to others on/through email and no one else has received it, then he's axed. If others have, then that's your answer.

I do find it disturbing that Homeslice would do that but you never know. He could be playing on the "I didn't know I did that" rountine. Be cautious Bobak

I'm unsure of what to say in this case. When LWK brought it up to me that I should probably defend homeslice, I kinda took it as a given. In this case though, I'm waiting it out til we hear from him. I have exchanged e-mails with him, and I've received nothing.
