Video Connect & Metal Slug 3

Videoconnect just called me and informed me that they have gotten in the Metal Slug 3 MVS games and are ready for shipping. I just paid for mine and should be on it's way. Just to let eveyone know who isn't informed.

Mine is on the way, I'm looking forward to the game! $325 may seem a bit high, and I'm sure the price will come down later (if the reproduction quantity was good), but for a brand new MVS version of this game, its worth it in my book. If they come down a lot later, then a backup copy will be on my list . . . <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

LWK, I'd be glad to scan it (got the package today). You mean the small mini-marquee, or the larger color paper marquee (which is one big sheet folded in half much like the NitD and MotW ones, instead of the usual two sheets)? They even sent me the FULL SIZED marquee, very nice (but too big to scan easily!). <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

I received mine today and everything seemed perfect until I realized that they did not give me the original mini-marquee. It is a paper copy. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> Has anyone else who ordered the game had this problem as well? I can't believe it.

Yeah, one of my buddies ordered the cart also and the marquee was a colored copy too. Good catch. He didn't realize it until I told him about your post. Video connect is going to be filled with calls tomorrow. Maybe that's why they included the full size marquee. Interesting though.

A while back I ordered Top Hunter from Video Connect. The marquee I got was a laminated color copy. Do they do this to all the games they sell? <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">

I talked to someone at Video Connection and they said that these are the mini-marquees they received from their distributor. They said it isn't actually paper but it sure looks like paper to me. I can also see some white on the right side of it from where the paper cutter wasn't exactly straight.

Has anyone else received any feedback from Video Connection yet?

Already received my MS3 and loving it. FYI, there was a post in these forums several weeks back you people should read. It basically stated that SNK is done with mini-marquees and that the large marquee is all you should expect with new games anymore. So the mini marquee might just be an extra.

I forget what else the post said, I think the reasoning was that SNK did not want their new releases competing for space in an MVS cab any more, they thought it hurt their money making ability.

My MS3 also had the paper copied mini-marquee. Although I wasn't very happy with that, we did get a very nice new FULL SIZED marquee, and of course the color "how to play" double sheet (similar to NitD one, instead of two sheets it is one larger sheet folded in half). I called VC and they confirmed that all of them came that way, so I'm not really angry about it. Having the large marquee really makes up for it . . .

I might be able to make a high-quality color copy of the MS3 marquee on glossy photo paper. I bought a new Canon S800 and it does jaw-dropping photos on the top-notch paper.

The paper feels like the type you'd get with your photos when developed with Kodak or someplace.

Let me know if anyone's interested and I might play around with it.

I'd be really interested in a high-quality scanned image or print, brentsg. Sounds like your new printer kicks out some really high quality output!! I'd pay you for the materials and effort for one. As for the scanner settings, I'm not sure myself (other than that you'd want bitmaps for the highest quality, and 300dpi resolution or higher). Maybe some experienced artists here, like Mouse Master, nick_th_fury, Jeff Kurtz, Blaine, Prozerg, or others would know . . .

I've been playing with the MS3 marquee a bit, and I can't quite get the color right. It's da*mn close, and if they weren't side by side I'd probably never know.
