I saw this last night on the Japanese PLAYMORE site. They had a link that said 開発スタッフ募集 (kaihatsu sutaffu boshu), which means 'hiring new staff for development'.

Clicking on the link leads to this page [didn't have enough time to translate everything, so I just ran it through a translator]:

* Graphic designer
Development graphic designer of pachinko software
School graduate person of design type
In the development graphic designer experience person of animation, the game, the パチスロ and the pachinko software it limits

* Program development
OS development of game machine
20 year - 35 year above high soldiers/finishings
Having possessed the knowledge of reason several engineering types, the kernel of the Linux, there is development experience of the device driver one

* Hardware development
Hardware development of amusement equipment (baseplate design and FPGA design)
20 year - 35 year above high soldiers/finishings having possessed knowledge such as electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, 3 years or more there is hardware development business experience one

* Planner
Development of パチスロ * pachinko software
Or more of high soldier/finishing
I wonder if the hardware developer position has anything to do with the new hardware we've heard about...

pachinko software? oh_no
Damn Right. If this new hardware is a bloody pachinko machine, we might as well expect Ryu and Ken's first neo apperance to be slapped on to one. oh_no

I'm no big fan of pachinko, but if PLAYMORE can expand itself by entering the pachinko market I'm all for it.

A financially stronger PLAYMORE means more money for video game development.

Playmore would not hire a non-japanese. I asked SNK representaives directly before if I cuold work for SNK as a programmer and they said that they only want people that speak japanese and live in japan. That would mean I'd have to move to Japan (osaka) first, somehow pay for that, and then speak Japanese fluently (not happening yet).

Face it - it's better to start your own team up and then try to build a game company of your own.

They forgot a key notation in that listing...

"Must be proficient and well-versed in all nuances of a computer's 'Cut and Paste' option."

Amen to that brudda...
And now you're reading talk of (I'll call it NPI)playing similar to ROTD.
Might there even be a GAMEMAKER inhouse software on the premises nowadays??

why are people always confusing playmore with noise factory.

I'm not confusing the two @ all. It's not a far fetched concept that two companies share the same cookie cutter software.That type of stuff used to go on all the time in the commodore 64 scene.
Same Engine,different style or way to present it.

Holy shit! A graphics designer? Does that mean they might make some of their own graphics for a game?!?!? Nah, they probably just want someone to draw box art.

Do you need to be in Japan if you want to apply for the graphics designer position? Or is it possible to work over the net?

Thank you,
