The resent accusations are not against the Neo Store, or Neo-Geo.com. The customers are not complaining, as they have no reason to. I notice that my inbox (email) is 99% positive, as usual.
As far as business is concerned, I followed every request issued by SNK officials to the T, and continue to do so to this day (out of respect).
Today’s accusations/attacks are on a personal level, directed towards me (Shawn).
This is the news & rumors forum. The price quotes floating around for the pocket software & boxed AES systems qualify as rumors, and false ones at that. For the record, SNK’s prices were double digit (dollar amount) for all pocket software.
Caris’s quoted price of $200 per unit for the new AES systems is hundreds off from the actual cost. However, just how many hundreds in difference is a confidential matter.
Instead of selling out in one day, the systems could have been auctioned on ebay, one at a time, slowly over a period of months. Everyone knows this would have been more profitable. However, I strongly believe that the customers prefer the method of buying that they were presented with. You see, customers do not wish to wait. They would rather have their new system now.
And chances are, I would be scrutinized for any high-end neo related auctions that I am involved with, by certain individuals that is. I recall bidding on a US Metal Slug on ebay earlier this year. Bidding, not winning mind you, as I lost the auction. The consequence of my “bid” resulted in several anti-shawn threads remarkably similar to what we are experiencing today. As if I had no right to bid on ebay, just as I have no right to run my own business.
Several people are voicing their negative judgment under the impression that the Neo Store is profiting from recent sales of SNK merchandise. The fact remains that actual profitability is a hefty six-digit figure away. Rest assured, a break-even point is nowhere in sight.
I would gladly fund a production of new home cartridge systems if given the opportunity. Consider a production of 500 to 1000 units. Now obviously the Neo Store’s price would be extremely reasonable considering the quantity available. For now, producing quantity AES systems is currently not a viable option.
Considering all 10 boxed AES systems sold out in < 24 hours, I can’t exactly lower this item’s price. Fortunately, I do have the ability to lower the price of English Metal Slug 3 to $265. It may not sound like much to the individual, but when you take $20 x 350 you will see the bigger picture.
