To all the neo geo fans,

I hope that posting things about NGF and getting people talking about "deals gone wrong" with NGF has opened up a lot of people's eyes to the truth. I know that is has for myself.

When I say the "truth" it has nothing to do with who sent what, what wasn't paid for, who never got the cart.. It's about being a close knit community for a greater cause.

We all enjoy a common pastime that is very expensive. And with being expensive there is a certain degree of comfort that has to be there in order to send $400+ in the mail to someone that you have probably never talked to in person let alone shook their hand.

I invited Dion here for a reason. Most everyone here was bashing NGF and Dion, including myself. However as I read posts from people I started to feel ashamed. Mainly because the guy wasn't even on the forum to stand up for himself, or tell his side of the story. Now that he is here, the waters are becoming calm again. To me it feels like the neo has been giving another jolt of life.

I hope that we all learn something from this experience. Again, I've seen bashing from topics like who had what carts first, to Jason's crap story of "$1600 in shit". Come on guys...if half of these stories are true then who do we really need to watch out for? Dion and NGF? Ourselves?

I guess that my aim in this is to present a mission statement of some sort. Let's do what we everything that we can individually to keep the waters calm.

Mabye we could adopt a universal form of doing business for our Neo community only? A standard. Shipping only priority with delivery conformation.

Maybe we could have an annual convention one day? Rent out a place close to everyone and hook up as many neo's as we can, get some beer and BBQ and play neo all day for a weekend. Settle our little disputes over a game of MOTW?

High hopes? Maybe. I think it can and should be done. Well I think I've said my piece. Post how you personally feel.

Mike out.

We can always "hook and shoot."

I have been in the Neo scene for 10 years now. I have seen people come and go.
The true Neo fans stick with it and don't get mixxd up in these little "posts" from the wannabies.

As for "Dion??"

I am just here to add some excitement to the Neo. It isn't like there is stuff to talk about all day everyday, so it might as well be "Dion" - "Chris" or "Ngf."

I would love to go to a "Neo gathering", and get to meet all the people I talk to online. I think it's a great idea, it would have to be in a convenient location though.

And I think if we all met in person, maybe we would be a little more civil to each other. In my experience the internet lets people speak much more frankly, and they are more likely to be rude or whatever.

In person maybe everyone would get along a little bit better.

You're right/ Online peole are "safe in their parents bedrooms."

In person people have to behave.

"Dion, still waiting for the universal day of open source names online. No more "screen names."

It's coming soon.

If people want, we can put together a Neo POW-WOW in Vegas. There are many places we can rent out and then we can go to the casinos. And, plane tickets to Vegas are fairly cheap since all airlines fly this way daily.

I'm in if you guys are. We sould do this before the year ends.
Let's see who will "show up."

I am 110% in. Some time in either November or December before Christmas. That way we can buy/trade/sell carts to take home for the Holidays.

Dion, if you know of a place...post up the info. I guess we need to take a talley of who will show so that we can collect funds for rental, food, beer, TV's?

If we are to make this happen we need an acurate number of people. So far with Dion and myself we have 2.

What the hell, I haven't taken a vacation in a few years. I wouldn't be able to get out that way until later in the year though, like November or December.

Well, so far we have 4 people. If we can get enough people to confirm, I'm sure we could get some fantastic GROUP rates on airfare, hotel, and even the meeting/game room.

And like I said, we should plan this for late in the year, possibly like Nov or Dec as people have been saying.

And I know there are a LOT of West Coasters out here that can make it as well. And I am talking about some of the BEST Neo players on the world (fighting games).

I'll even contact SNK/Aruze and see if we can get some promotional material that will be as "FREE GIFTS" to all who attend.

If we stick together as Neo brothers, we can make this a reality.

Also, for all people thinking about coming to Vegas for the Neo gathering....feel free to bring your friends, girlfriends/wives, or anyone else along. The more people coming, the cheaper it will be for all of us, and the funner it will be.

I think this can turn out to be a great get together. Imagine all the pictures!!

Travis has a Neo Shodown site that he runs, I'm sure he will help us get this thing rolling.

"Neo Shodown 3: Las Vegas"

I just wonder if we have enough time.
It's just about September now. We have 2 months. I think that's plenty of time to get all plans together.

What do you guys think?

I am in too. The only thing that would be difficult for me is getting vacation time during the holiday season. If we can set a date soon, I will know for sure. This is a great idea.

Any date will be fine, as long as it gives us ALL enough time to make plans.

I would think mid November would be good or maybe early December.

I definitely say early December. It will be easier for me, and I will have a little extra time to set aside money for airfare and hotel, etc.

I also have to brush up my Neo fighting skills too =)

I know you guys are planning on meeting in November/December, but what about the time in the week? If we did this on a weekend (or a Friday, Sat, Sun, Mon), it would be a lot easier for everyone to get the consecutive days off. Just a thought.

Lord! I would LOVE to go. I'll be 18 then. =B But uhh... I live on the east coast! LOL! =)) Vegas sounds cool, but what about a place more to the east like... Florida! j/k =)~ Maybe somewhere like Texas, Kansas, ya know, a centralized area. I'm sure ALL of the neo gamers would be happy to do so. ^_____^ *Wink wink*

Well what I was thinking in my origional idea was to have one in the fall and one in the spring/summer

SO what we could do is have the first one on the East coast and the second one of the West coast or however.

The thing is, air fare to Vegas is cheaper than flying to Texas, Florida, Atlanta, and just about all other places.

Most airlines have many flights going to and from Vegas, so they have great rates.

Plus, Vegas is a 24 hour town, and there is a LOT to do.

Also there are so many hotels/casinos, so rooms are also very competitive in price.

Everyone wins.

*Sigh* Well, looks like I won't be able to make it this first time round then. =) And you must remember though Dion. Some people are underage! =D Like me. Vegas would be loads of fun though. =)

I have to agree with Dion here. I'm not driving anywhere, I'm gonna fly. And I just checked airfares, and Vegas is quite affordable and leaves me plenty of money for hotel, food, alcohol and souvenirs.

I live on the east coast, but I think Vegas would work out well. Maybe we could do an east coast gimmick in the spring?

I just wanna let you guys know right now...

If I come to the Neogeo Conference (or get together), I will own everyone in Samurai Shodown 2! =) My Ukyo and Haohmaru will put you to shame!

Seriously though, if you have a Neogeo conference, you should definitely have tournaments in different games with prizes. Mabey Neon-Dion can give away AES carts as prizes =)

I attended a game conference for a quake mod that I helped develop and we managed to get sponsorship from a couple companies who donated prizes for the tournaments. Mabey you guys can do something like that.
