WARNING!!!!!!!!!

Official KOF2K1 japan release seems not to run correctly with EURO NEO-GEO SYSTEMS.
Take care.
This info is from
<a href="http://www.neoayato.com" target="_blank">www.neoayato.com</a>
They received a message from the distributor explaining the pal ship on the AES seems not to run correctly.
As a consequence, the sounds in the intro of the games doen't work so well. Nothing more is said...
I sent mail for more informations, I m waiting.

Shawn, you are probably aware of that isn't it?
Could you give us more details?

Hmm weird thing, maybe its only that 50 Hz setting that cause the problems or just that protectionfilm on the Carts. I remove the film on the contacts because i got sometimes trouble that games hat some errors when that film is on the cart.

KoF 2001 will only be released as an NTSC version. All of the former cartridge releases were equipped with both NTSC & PAL chips inside.

From what I’m told, the KoF 2001 home cartridge will function perfectly on all AES systems, PAL included, but testing revealed problems with the demo/intro stage on PAL systems. Game play should not be affected.

Also understand that with English and Japanese home cartridge systems there should not be an issue at all.

Thanks a lot Shawn....
I wasn't sure and I prefered to say nothing but I didn't know there were an EURO version of the Home System :) .
I thought there were only a US and a Jap version.
It's good to know ;) .

The Arcade-Strikers has also got some problems with the PAL format. I think it's because Psykio didn't took care of the 50Hz thing. You can play it on 50Hz, too, but if you do so, you got some rubbish on the top of the screen. Nothing serious.

Cheers

It's not a big issue, if it's just the sound in the intro... :o

you shouldn't have any problems if you run it through an RGB connection (like SCART)?

Is anybody sure about this? I mean, that the problem only affects the intro? C'Mon that's quite a lot of money, I need a confirmation before buying it!

I got an answer from neoayato saying that they don't have any more informations about that...
But According to them and to Shawn it only concerns the intro... I think We can trust them!

I have just receive an answer from neoayato and they told me that that the bad sound is on the intro and a little during the game... All I want to know is how much is that "little during the game"

What can be the technical cause of that. I have always thought that the difference between the consoles were just for the bios . It can justify the sound problems.

Just a sidenote: KoF 2000 had similar intro-problems on a PAL neo. The intro was kind of garbled (pixel errors). The game itself worked, including all cut scenes and endings. On my jpn neo the same prob didn't arise, so it's probably got something to do with the PAL standard.

that has no influence at all. the problem is the timing (PAL systems run at 50 Hz, about 17% slower than NTSC machines) which causes it to mess up most likely.
