Bobak, please tell me that you didn't let these guys do this <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">

Check the many altered definitions, including that of NeoGeoFreak.com and the addition of NeoStore.com <IMG SRC="smilies/shame.gif" border="0">

What a fucking joke <IMG SRC="smilies/veryangry.gif" border="0">

edit: I've saved a copy of it in case it mysteriously disappears. It's posted here:

For the record, I did let them after they asked politely so long as they made note that it's an adaptation of an original creation by me. They did that, therefore I'm okay with.

There were requests for a few edits on the version of the list here, but I've chosen to keep it as is.

The original, uneditted version will remain here. The list was meant for the community. It's something I believe in.

I saw that when I went looking for the new stock pictures. Kinda scared me a bit.

The way they gave you credit makes it seem like you wrote it exactly like that, not that thiers is an edited version of yours.

But have you seen exactly what they've changed? Here's a sample:

Your original definition:

AES/AES Cartridge

Term describing cartridges for the Neo Geo home system (also known as home carts). Stands for Advanced Entertainment System. The term originally described the system itself: the English language logo for the Neo Geo had “Advanced Entertainment System” stamped between the Neo and Geo -fulfilling the Japanese love for adding superlatives to their product descriptions. The term has now become a popular short hand for describing a Home Cartridge (i.e. “I traded my Robo Army CD for his Metal Slug 3 AES.”). AES carts are not compatible with the arcade (MVS) system (except by conversion).

Their definition:

AES/AES Cartridge

Term first coined by Dion Dakis of NeoGeoFreak/NGF-USA in early 1999 to represent cartridges that were meant for consumer use (home cartridges). Stands for Advanced Entertainment System. The term originally described the system itself: the English language logo for the NeoGeo had “Advanced Entertainment System” stamped between the Neo and Geo -fulfilling the Japanese love for adding superlatives to their product descriptions. The term originally was not well approved by some people in the beginning because people were used to calling them "home cart." But as Dion kept pointing out, anything in the home could be called a home cart: (i.e. "MVS carts are home carts if they are in your home."). The term "AES" has now become a popular short hand for describing a home/consumer cartridge and is now 100% accepted, used, and understood by all. (i.e. “I traded my Neo CD system for his Metal Slug 3 AES.”). AES carts are not compatible with the arcade (MVS) system (except by conversion).

That's just one term. And if you look at the bottom, the note they make about changes suggests that only retailer info was changed--none of the important stuff.

I'd personally be ashamed to have my name even associated with that trash.

Well, the Lawnmower Man and the Running Man were both based on stories on Stephen King -but that's about as close as they get...

Do you want to know what the coolest part about all of that is????????

If you try and click on the links for the neostore or neo-geo.com you get a:

"CANT LOCATE THAT PAGE NOTICE"

Why? Because clever Chris and Dion have put commas in the url's

instead of neo-geo.com they have neo-geo,com

What a pair of Dikes

Hmm I see NGF has branched out from stealing just price list HTML (NCS) and now steals glossarys as well.

Chris you should really take some of that "Big Tymer" money your pulling in, and invest in a better HTML editor than notepad, maybe then you won't have to steal everyones code. Funny, because I thought you didn't know how to cut and paste <IMG SRC="smilies/tickled.gif" border="0">

I like this one:

"Big Tymer: - reaching 100+ MVS carts with at least 50+ being in the custom NGF Signature Series fashion."

EDIT - Someone dumb enough to pay us 20 dollars a pop for Kinkos printed MVS labels Chris made in photoshop.

Bobak you didn't write this did you?

Collector terms / ladder system
Used to describe ones collection level status by other NeoGeo fans, gamers, and collectors.

OR THIS

*(A person can own SuperFreak items and not be deemed a SuperFreak collector

I like this part the best at the very bottom in 6 point font:

we edited listings of game companies and some retail shops which weren't needed)

Not only was the neo-geo.com URL intentionally rendered nonfunctional, the neostore.com link is set to load ngfusa.com.

Also notice how he completely removed !Arcade! from Bobak’s glossary.

Could be much worse I suppose. You see, freaking a glossary takes time.

Bobak,

You have done some great things for the neo scene. Hell, I havn't done a single thing.

However, when you screw up, people are going to tell you about it.

I have to respectfully say that giving the Dikes permission to use that glossary was a big time (no pun intended) screw up. <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">

Problem is, even if Chris was not given permission by Bobak, he could still plagiarize the Neo-Glossary at will.

What keeps people from lifting another’s work is the fear of potential damage to one’s reputation.

In Chris’s case, he has nothing left to lose. He takes without hesitation, free from the worry of losing even an ounce of integrity.

Chris, are you describing your prices being high? Since the link is to www.neostore.com goes to ngfusa, the definition of "neostore.com" and link should have some relation to each other. Glitch or reality?

"NeoStore.com. Independent game store dedicated to the Neo Geo. Nice selection of items, but prices are a little too high."

My logic exactly. I'd rather have something agreed on than a simple grab (not to say that they would've).

It was not a clear black-or-white choice. I knew some people would see it as a bad idea, and I totally respect their views. It was a complex decision, and I think it was for the best.

The above definition is 100% rediculous.
People please read his definition...
who in the hell would say "I traded my CD system for a Metal Slug 3 AES?"
AES was adapted because it's a shortcut for home cart, nothing more.
In an Ebay description you get but so much room to enter a description in the title so what would you rather use? AES,saving space or HOME CART?
The Home System was designed to play in the HOME.The Arcade Cart was designed for arcade hardware! If I bring an Arcade machine into my home does this somehow make it a Home machine all of the sudden??
Dion's logic is "twisted" for the sole purpose of confusing and RIPPING people off!
GREED.GREED.GREED!

you get my full support Bobak. We all know who created the concept and where credit is due.

You made a bold decision, but we all know it's inevitable that if Chris doesn't take the idea, some other site will.

Don't be surprised to see SRK.com doing their own glossary in the future.

In time we will see how the two different glossaries evolve. This should be interesting.

Umm the "Glossary" idea is nothing new and ground breaking, not that it means anything, but I "was" working on a Neo Glossary well over 5 monthes ago, Bonuskun can attest to that, because he was providing me with ton's of old emails and other information for it.

When I found out about the "Neo.com" glossary I had to smile, because it was the same idea I had, and was working on. I'm sure Bobak had no idea I was doing one, but still.

However my Glossary was on all the Controversial aspects/scams of the neo scene, and not a newbie guide.

BTW Bobak your nuts for giving them permission to use anything you made, I mean everyone here acts so against them, that they suck so much, they need to be stopped ect. ect., yet I turn around and you guys are "giving" them content for their site, not to mention the tri-daily NGF posts throughout this forum, you know ignoring something is the fastest way to kill it, people HERE keep ngf alive, it's that simple. I don't get it.

Bobak you should have allowed them to steal the idea point blank.
They are happy to give you your "credit" because they want the unsuspecting to believe that they're 'FREAKED' philosophy and 'CRIMINAL' business practices are accepted by our community!
