Wow! That wasn't bad. A few errors here and there (example: Showing FF2 in the place of FF1) and obvious ommisions (the incredible popularity of the Soccer games). But I'd give it a Solid B+, maybe an A-.

I loved this quote:

"Even if its not famous now, look out. It will be someday."

Sweet...

OK, cool idea... but that guy was a dork... and he seemed to not have thought to much about the segment before they started taping... He kept muttering, and stumbling through the descriptions, and the game placement was awkward and seemed really poorly done. I don't know, I am really excited that someone took the time to pay homage to the Neo Geo, but I was not to overtaken by the production values of their segment
smile.gif
Also, he did not talk to much about the newer games, or about anything else this year except KOF2001. And where the hell was Puzzle Bobble, that was the Neo's claim to fame back in the day, if it was not for that game, there would be a lot less Neo Geo's in arcades today. And how about the excelent shooters, all we got was Pulstar. Anyway, it was good, but maybe we should all get together one day and do a huge fan tribute
smile.gif
I am sure we could make it well over 30mins as well! Overall I give it a C-, maybe a C, not great but still passing. However I think videogames.com should be applauded for covering the system in the light they did, kind of makes the dailyradar bashing go away now doesn't it

Y'know Nick,

After reading your review I think I should drop my score to a B. I was to forgiving about stuff that you pointed out (its like those people who said Episode One was good because it was Star Wars).

I was thinking the exact same thing about the fan tribute.

There was obviously a lot of mistakes but it is very cool that there are people who are still paying homage to this great system. Given all of the mistakes it still was cool to see a tribute like that.

I think it was done ok also, No mention of the cd system although I may have missed it
smile.gif
. I can see why some of the MVS games were not talked about since they were covering the home system. No talk about the memory card being able to use at the arcade and home. it was a average representation

"it was a average representation"

I haven't watched it all, but I'd have to agree with you. But, when you think about it any mainstream representation of the Neo is above average. Yeah, that guy did look like a nerd, but it appears that he just sits in front of a camera and says stuff off the top of his head. 99% of the usual visitors to videogames.com are not going to notice the mistakes, so those are forgivable. I think it's cool how they "made it public" that the Neo is the longest living console in the history of games. Now all they need to do is a segment on the Atari Jaguar, and say how it outlived the Dreamcast

I watched it and I thought it was a great piece. Sure, its not perfect and its not the planned either, but what the heck, its about the neo geo on a mainstream site. Theres so much about the Neo that could be spoken in a presentation like that, some of you guys even named some points. The way they did it, people who dont know the system atleast get to see some games in action than just the guy telling a story.

Not perfect, but hey, I enjoyed it.

I thought it was a great. Yeah, it could have been better but considering that it was on a mainstream game site, it actually exceeded my expectations. It helped that the guy presenting the show was actually around when the system first came out and knew what he was talking about for the most part. Overall: Kudos to VIDEOGAMES.COM!

I liked it, but they could've done a little more with it. It's a shame they faffed up on the Fatal Fury bit- they should've shown a 2 vs. 1 match from the FIRST one. Instead, they showed FF2.

The clip of LB2 was nice. However, I think they should've focused a bit more on some post-1994 non-fighting games like Pulstar, Metal Slug, etc. in addition to what was covered.

I remember about that 3DO- $700! No game system ever got higher in price than that. I bought one, but not until it went down to $370.

Didn't Greg Kasavin once have a Neo site called "Goenitz's Mega Shock"? I've heard of him before he joined GameSpot.

Just curious, what was the domestic price of a LaserActive when they were new? I'm sure it could offer some contention for that dubious place in gaming history.

I think this fellow could have done with a refresher course in Neo·Geo history, and maybe just a little bit of preparation to cut back on all that stuttering & stammering, although, some coverage is better than none, I suppose. He kind of tested that theory though in my opinion.

I will look it up, but I am pretty sure it was close to a grand... plus if you added the Genesis and the Turbo Grafix 16 modules you were looking at around $1,500 or so if I am not wrong.

Really? Maybe I need a newer version of Windows or something. Being what I figured was probably the last person on Earth ever to spell it with the dot unconditionally, I have been typing Alt+0183 for: · all this time, although I just discovered that Alt+0149 produces a larger one: •.
