Those look nice! The background in the second picture looks busy -- let's hope it animates as good as it looks!

Heh - looks like Giga Power also checks out www.insertcredit.com on a regular basis.

The pics have been up a few days now. I think Elbarto was the one who scanned the 3 magazine pages.

Indeed he was. He originally linked to them in this thread (just in case some of those posting here wish to read the earlier discussion):

And for completeness sake, here's the thread in which Clear Paper linked to the German site, HardEdge:

Yay!!!
It looks very good for a Neo Geo game.

I thought it was a Naomi game from those screenshots! But Playmore has proved yet again that there's still alot they can squeeze out of a decade old arcade platform...

I think this is Kunohe Montaro, one of the 4 new characters. He's the middle character in the top row of this photocopied movelist from the Oosaka location test:

Hananokouji Kurara.

J.Max:
Yay!! The old lady with the flying dentures is back! WooHoo!
Both of 'em, even! This time around, they seem to be giving Oume and Otane some differences in their movesets (individualizing them slightly, a la Ryu & Ken, Ralf & Clark, Hanzo & Fuuma, etc.). According to the above-linked location test movelist, Otane's "Gansaishi" (the flying dentures) is still a 'charge-move' (Hold B,F + Punch) while Oume's "Gansaishi" is now a standard projectile 1/4-circle (QCF + P). Otane's "Ikakugan" (the ki-energy face) is also still a 'charge-move' (changed to Hold B,F + Kick; in previous games it was Hold D,U + P) while Oume's "Ikakugan" is now a standard anti-air uppercut motion (F,D,DF + P). I'm very curious to see how these 2 characters' movesets are further differentiated in the final version of the game -- I'm especially eager to see the differences in their younger forms' movesets!

I love the way these characters are drawn. The style is awesome. And like everyone else has been saying lets hope for the best with the animation. :D wink

Hmm, doesn't look like that Kunohe guy to me. Though it's blurry, I think the hair is different, and the clothing does not look the same (compared to the movelist pic).

Well, I was hoping to edit my previous message before you had the chance to read it -- here's what I was going to add:

Looks like you're right, DAK! That is indeed Elias!

I was thinking that the face in the upper right corner (next to the health meter) didn't really look much like Murata Range's official mugshot of Montaro (not to mention the costume coloration on the sprite itself). So, I did a little digging around the Japanese end of the net and here's what I found:

Characters from Rage of the Dragons appeared as opponents in the location test version of Matrimelee! According to the Feb. 9 Matrimelee article on this newspage of the website, Hamapikaya: "as you enter the 3rd and 5th stages, there are doors that look like waiting room entrances; Rage of the Dragons characters enter through these to fight you; Jimmy and Elias are confirmed." According to the Feb. 10 newsblurb on this page, entitled "NEO-GEO + alpha News," Lynn also appears (the blurb's author comments that he would like Alice to show up, too). Of course, whether or not the RotD characters remain a part of the final version of the game remains to be seen. For fans of the earlier installments in the GI/PI series, the Hamapikaya article states that "as usual, during the Victory Demo screen the defeated character's face is covered in graffiti."

This game looks like its going to shape up to be at least equally as impressive as ROTD (no bad thing at all), which begs the question....

Just what DID Evoga do in the evelopment of ROTD?

And does anyone else think we are more likely to see ROTD vs NPI before SNK vs Capcom? wink
Well, Noise factory certainly seem to be the most active Neo developer at the moment.

If memory serves the first 3 games in the series were JAMMA boards: Gouketsuji Ichizoku (aka Power Instinct), Gouketsuji Ichizoku 2 (aka Power Instinct 2), and Gouketsuji Gaiden Saikyou Densetsu (aka Power Instinct Legends). GROOVE ON FIGHT (which sometimes bore a small Gouketsuji Ichizoku 3 logo next to its title) was released on Sega's ST-V arcade motherboard system.

GI/PI saw home releases on both the Super Famicom (SNES) and Megadrive (Sega Genesis) consoles, PlayStation got Gouketsuji Ichizoku 2 ~Chotto dake Saikyou Densetsu~ (sort of a hybridization of GI2/PI2 and GGSD/PIL), and GROOVE ON FIGHT appeared on Sega Saturn.

Whew, I'm not crazy! I just kept looking at pics of Elias and at that picture and they looked the same, but I looked at Kunohe and I'm all "What?! They don't look alike at all!"
