No matter whom I talk to everyone is waiting patiently for SNK vs CAPCOM neo geo home cart to arrive. I even heard someone say ITO MOTM ngpc is the best fighter on any system and this is a guy who plays KOF’02 all day long. I see a listing on Playmore's site, but I am starting to lose hope. Does anyone have info that will actually keep peoples hopes alive??

There's been a lot posted in News & Rumors in the recent past, please feel free to peruse some of the older threads for more solid information.

For all intents and purposes, the game is a "go" until the developers themselves come out and say its not coming.

I like to think that their taking their time to make it good. Needless to say, there is a lot of expectation riding on this game, and if it meets or exceeds expectations it could spell blockbuster success for Playmore (especially overseas).

Keep your fingers crossed!

2 things...

First, SNK vs Capcom is on Playmore's release list. Everything on that list is an official release that has been announced by Playmore.

Second, the last time we heard from Playmore developers (I forget where the link is) was an interview with some former SNK coders helping Eolith make KOF 2002. They stated at that time that a separate team entirely was working on SNK vs Capcom. (I think they said the team was based in SNK/Neo Geo HK.)

Look I am also trying to maintain a positive mental attitude in regards to the actual release of a neogeo MVS (and home cart) SNK versus Capcom cartridge. But the fact is that even then it is very difficult for me to maintain my faith.

I also tend to be more skeptical in this particular case moreso then any other game that has ever been announced for the neogeo. Main reason being because it is such a "dream come true" and "realized vision" that sometimes it just seems "to good to be true".
And we all know the classic saying: "if something seems too good to be true, then it usually is"

The only "comfort" that I have found in all this (so far) are the "FACTS". So for those who may have missed out on those, as well as for those who wish to remind themselves of them, here they are as far as I know them.

FACT ONE:
On or about circa year 2000, Capcom & SNK did make some kind of an agreement / arrangement to make cross-licensed / cross-promoted video games. The Naomi-based arcade version of the game: "Capcom verus SNK" was released to arcades. The game itself even addressed the "dream issue" by stating in its introduction: "no one believed...no one thought it could happen" etc.

FACT TWO:
The neogeo pocket handheld also received the game: "SNK versus Capcom". However a) this was NOT a fighting game, rather a card game, and b) this was for the neogeo pocket rather then the neogeo console.

FACT THREE:
Although Trieuminator (whom I give endless credit towards for his relentless pursuit AND delivery of fast, accurate, and sometimes inside information) states to the otherwise, I strongly believe that NGH-258 (incidentally, circa 2000) is the allotted position on the product code master list which would accomodate a neogeo SNK versus Capcom title. Obviously, SNK going under and being in "limbo" right around that time period may have (most likely did) contributed to the games "delay" or "temporary postponement".

FACT FOUR:
An official neogeo arcade promo flyer for Rage of the Dragons announced both New Power Instinct & SNK versus Capcom as upcoming future releases. This was sometime in 2002.

FACT FIVE:
Playmores official website lists SNK versus Capcom as an upcoming release for the neogeo right alongside other previous and soon to be released titles such as KOF2002 & New Power Instinct.

So that's it. Not too much to go on, I'll admit. But hey, WAY better then nothing wouldn't you say? At the very least, it gives us that so called "hope". The question is, how much hope? And just how long will that hope last? I mean, how many times can someone say "coming soon" before it becomes redundant and possibly even doubtfull?

For me personally, and I have said this before, until I see screenshots, I will not be totally convinced that this games release is still a "possibility". And furthermore, until it is sitting in my hands, I will never truly be able to finally call my fighting game friends from 10 years ago and say: "we finally got it!, it finally happened!, dreams do come true!"

Just my two cents.

Um, there are 2 kinds of SNK vs Cap games released on the NGPC:

Card Fighters the card game.

And,

Match of the Millenium the fighting game.

Seems to me, based on what you said, that you only know of the card series. A type-o perhaps?

Actually there is a CvS fighter on it
<img src="http://www.boomspeed.com/yungburnout/svcpc.1.gif" alt=" - " />
*Even has two reviews in the review section

Sure it was for the NGPC but it went hand in hand with it's CvS big brother on the DC since using the DC & NGPC link cable you could dl points earned in SvC:MOTM. Maybe at the time both games came out one company had the rights to put it in the arcades while the other had to wait a bit or maybe SNK felt it wasn't the right time to do a MVS/NHC.

Either way the smaller SvC gave CvS1 a good run for it's money and I even find myself enjoying it even more then CvS 2, sure i can see how you want hardcore pic facts but hey playmore has delievered on everything they said they would so why would they lie now?

This makes me think about all the Atari Jaguar games that appeared on lists and in pamphlets and flyers that never came into existance.

I was thinking last night, since Playmore is makeing SNK vs Capcom, I wouldnt be suprised if they threw in some ROTD characters. Gottta plug thier own games. . .

I think it will come.

This title could do a lot for the neo and playmore.

I think they're working really hard on making it a perfect game and aren't releasing more details cuz all details given will be witholding them from making major chances, once they are known.

Er that doesn't make any sense cos its not playmore's game its EVOGA's game playmore are just the publisher i doubt that would ever happen. As far as the existance of SvC is concerned there is no denying that it will be coming, i mean if a hardcore games magzine like Edge who never go on rumours says its coming in this summer then i believe it. The only other piece of info that i know about the game which hasn't been mentioned yet is that its beening developed internally at playmore with the "SNK team". Yes thats the original team they still exist just cos the old SNK dont exist doesn't mean the team would vanish into the air, dont you think it would be dumb of Playmore to just buy the wrights of the characters and not higher the developers aswell? its true that a thew of them are now at Capcom or somewhere else but there still a thew of them left. You need to also relize that the newest kofs (01 - 02) are done by EOLITH remember they bought the wrights to develop them games which should expire this year (i wonder if EOLITH pay to extend time on the wrights?) so dont let that affect your judgements for S v C or to criticise Playmore for these new games like so many people keep doing on these forums. Also worth noting to make a point that the snk team still exist they helped EOLITH on kof2002. The lack of information well i dont know why they do that, if they showed some teasers i am sure that would generate alot of interest by the public!. I guess they will leave info and pictures till last 2 or less months before release like what happened with Gouketuji.

capcom's version made new sprites and animations for the SNK characters and most of capcom's characters were mostly rehashed from other games.

i'm hoping the SNK version will have new, and updated sprites for EVERY character

Well that article was written by one of our friends here, so he would have relied heavily on info available here.SO what Edge magazine published was not independent research.

From what I heard the SNK division that did Fatal Fury, Last Blade, and Mark of the Wolves are the one that is currently developing SNK vs Capcom. Those developers tend to redraw every god damn sprite for almost evey new sequels with consistency in animations and art style, so it is expected that ALL sprites in SNK vs Capcom are brand new.

I don't think SNK ever ripped out sprites from another game to put into their newer games (e.g. MOTW chars were redrawn for KOF2000 strikers).

Well I really hope it comes out. Thanks everyone for your feedback, You brought the hope back. I just can't stand playing CvS on my gamecube. Why did I even buy a gamecube for this game? The sad controllers....... Sad, sad, controllers. Anyways, Thanks!
Don't get me wrong, the games great, I just think the Playmore version (crossing my fingers) will be more enjoyable, IMO.

Ken and Ryu on the Neo Geo - it sounds too good to be true - and not because I don't think its on its way - it just sounds unbelievable. And if the team that done MotW does this game, then it should be the greatest fighting game ever created (I thought very little of Capcom vs SNK. it was cheapand nasty). Can you imagine owning the AES cart? If this game meets the high expectations many of us have, it would probably give the Neo Geo a new lease of life. Then SNK would reform and boot out Playmore and we'd all be happy. And that's about the time I'd wake up.

Playmore has way too much riding on this game to simply cancel it, or let it fade into oblivion. If done right, it could mean them assloads of money.

That, and they've likely put tons of work into it already to think about shelving it.

They'll release details when they're good and ready, and keeping things so secretive only works to their advantage, so long as they keep it known that its still in the works.

I just really hope that some members of the team come to this site (we know playmore frequents, but the ones that count) see these comments and realize that they are making a make or break title. A lot of people felt a bit miffed after most of the KOF fans here put in mass suggestions for KOF2K2 (axe certain characters, add certain characters, redesign outfits, etc)... and not seeing any of it develope into the game.

Let's not forget, and Playmore take a note... We are your customer base... If we don't like it, you're fucked. Just please don't rush this title, and if I had my way they would simply make it similar to the pocket version... that is about how I want to see this game... a classic in every way.

And while you are at it, porting Gals Fighter over to the MVS/AES wouldn't hurt one bit either wink

Playmore's site is protected and it's impossible to copy a direct link to their release page.

I will take the liberty of illustrating the location of their release page since I have absolutely nothing better to do:

Upon visiting Playmore's website:
<a href="http://www.metrocast.net/~neolord/p1.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.metrocast.net/~neolord/p1.jpg</a>

You will be sent to:
