Will price of AES console go up?

I'm afraid the price of AES console will go up soon.....

What do you guys think?

In that other topic I said that ebayers will see this and think any neo system will fetch this value, the domino effect will set in, and the price on the HC system will be screwed.

I think the Neo home cart system should be at least $400, bare bones. Seems fair to me . . . more if it has the original box, say about $500 depending on condition and territory.

Now, I think that is going overboard. I hope you are kidding. AES systems should go for 250 in my opinion (or around the neighbourhood). I got mine, which was near mint, with box and documentation for 280 US. It's a nice looking system, couretesy of GA.

Why not? Usually video game systems are more expensive than the games, but with the Neo Geo, some people are crazy enough to spend $1000 on a game. <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">

I never understood why everything is so expensive.. Yes, it is a wonderful thing. But, Jesus christ, man.. Systems that can do more than the neogeo go for half of retail. NOW.. I think it is simply amazing what the guys and girls over at snk have been able to pull off with that system. But.. are the parts really worth it? Understanding that no system is priced according to the parts used.. but.. I remember why the turbo graphix CD player came out back in the day and that thing cost three hundred plus retail. I suppose the new tech. costs more when it' s new. The neo on the other hand is almost a decade old... anyways, long live the idea of the neogeo.

This coming from the person who thought my (great condition) US Neo-Geo Gold AES (w/box, styrofoam, two old-style joysticks, instructions, RF unit, A/V cables, and power cable) and NM US AES versions of Garou, FF3, RBFF, RBFFS, SS, SS2, SS3, SS4, a bare-bones converted Metal Slug, AoF3, KoF'98, and Last Blade 2 should all go combined for no more than "$1750 tops, if less..." (and this was BEFORE the price guide started plummeting!)

Far be it from me to add more fuel to the fire, but your other "example" of using an eBay auction to somehow "justify" the pricing of the $1000 AES system is pure tripe. Neo-Geo.com exists for several reasons; one among them certainly seems to educate the new Neo consumer (see Neolord's recent NGF FAQ, priceguides, etc.) You've done your fair shrare of swindling and manipulting as far as I'm concerned (talking trash about DSD when he was banned, accusing me of taking a "best case" scenario when I said that LB2 and Garou were worth roughly $1000 combined before the price guide revamp, insinuating that I was greedy when I came up with a suitable asking price that I came on based on the average price I asked other people, etc.) but this eBay nonsense is ridiculous.

The average eBay user doesn't have a clue how much a Neo system is worth. Heck, the average eBay user doesn't know what a Neo is. You want to compare use that $1500 auction as an excuse for Shawn's asking price? How come you haven't mentioned the first bid being worth less than $200, I wonder? <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> If the guy had started his auction at $1000, you'd be at the forefront saying what a selfish, greedy jerk he was. i just got my AES for $319.00, used and boxed, courtesy of the neo-store/shawn and i feel like i got a great deal.
call me desperate or inexperienced, or preferably call me "you've been waiting for a neo for over a decade and now in a few days you'll have one and you can't fucking wait"- it don't bother me none.
this site (and the neo itself) should be about great games and the system that has them- not about price wars.
