Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean. No one is going to be able to stop emulation or piracy, and I'm not really mad that people can get things fo free that either me or someone else has paid good money for. Even on the Dreamcast or PS2, a lot of my friends have had pirated copies of games that I had gone out and bought (and they laughed at me for doing so), but that did not make me mad because I knew I'd spent MY money on it and I wanted to show my support to Sega or whatever. I don't wanna sound like a hypocrite, so I admit have pirated copies of games lying around, but I can honestly say that if I like a game enough to buy it, I *DO* buy it.
What really pi**es me off though is the fact that people call themselves fans of a console, company or a game series, but won't put their hand in their pocket and support it in one way or another. Then they start crying because SNK or another company goes under, but I have to ask them the question: what did you do to support them? Now, I honestly don't believe that SNK's death is down to emulation (imo if it wasn't for emulation, the lamers that exist wouldn't be playing SNK games anyway... they'd probably be off pirating something else), but it is true that if some people showed more support for the company they love, things might be different.
You'd actually be suprised that there are a lot of decent people in the emulation community that I speak to regularly that do agree with me, and maybe even OWN an MVS or home cart machine, or at least buy the ports of games to other systems, or whatever else. That's ok with me, cos at least they are buying something. It's just the other people that demand everything for free, or even get mad because X rom doesnt run flawlessly on their emulator or something like that... that's just unbelievably lame imo. <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0">
