Well KOF2k is now emulated in the "kawaks" emulator. Perhaps it would be in SNK/Brezza/whatever's best interest to switch to a new piece of hardware for its future games. As much as I love the MVS, the economic viability for it is now gone since the stuff is now out all over the place.

so now what? Naomi? IGS PGM?

I like Naomi.

I might even say try the GameCube arcade hardware as that is supposed to have fairly good 2D. But that's totally a rumor.

According to the latest rumours, the move towards a new hardware may happen.

But I doubt that this would stop the dumpers. Most modern game pcbs/carts have been dumped, encryption and protection schemes were only small obstacles. It's only a matter of time.

Perhaps a totally new game machine layout would be the answer. Like Robotron 2084, it's emulated, but we know that it sucks without two sticks. You get the picture.

Nothing is wrong with ROMS. I played lots of emulated games at home. As a matter of fact, I have one those ROMS cabinet at home. I am also an AES collector. I put just as much money in Neo Geo as the next guy. I just hate people who sell ROMS.

A new board is the answer to the emulation problems if they changed boards every couple of years it would be harder to emulate the games

The IGS PolyGameMaster is a cart board combo system that looks remarkably similiar to the MVS but uses much newer technology. It is made by a Tawainese company...they have a website out there somewhere.

It is famous for the Knights of Valour games and more recently Dodonpachi 2 came out for it.

I beleive Crystal of Kings is going to be a PGM game...not entirely sure though

Look it up? That's funny coming from a guy with horrid spelling and grammar. Oh and I suggest that you "look up" sarcasm as well...because your little retort is hardly sarcastic by any conventional definition. Incidently, my reply to your initial spewing of nonsensical toodler-speak does fit that definition. As does this reply. Oh and before you revert to your typical flame patterns I might as well get this in first...you have been owned...and this is a DIGGGGGGGGGGG.

Back to the playpen with you, LWK.

Very well put Pichai, I agree completely. I have no problem with people using ROMs and emulators, but selling them is really disgusting . . .

NO. NO. Brezza can't succeed by just relying on a small fanbase. Didn't work last time. Won't work this time.

If they're smart, they'll bring out KOF 2001 (and all their other games) on other home consoles (like the PS2), and if they do, emulation is going to cut into those profits, because it's a lot harder to say no to a $50 PS2 game than it is to a $270 AES cart.

Like I said, they should move on from the 16-bit, as much as I... we love it.

kof2k emulated? That's great! I know thats a VERY unpopular response since almost everyone on these boards hates emulation(or if they don't they sure make it seem that way). This is good news for me at least because now i can try it out and see if i want to buy the cart.

Unfortunately, i dont have money comming out of my ass so i really can't afford to buy a game and be stuck with it. Thankfully, i can try out a game with an emulator and see how it is beforehand.

Is it so wrong for me to think this way? To each his own i guess....

Oh well... not thrilled about this, but I knew it would happen sometime. What's done is done. On the good side, at least it took them some time to crack it.

You know what? Maybe a switch to NAOMI isn't a bad idea. No PC can handle a NAOMI game.

SNK developers would drool over the extra capability for graphics and sound.

Why don't you go shine the shoes of....of...um..oh wait no one likes you, nevermind.

Yeah its so very sad, nobody likes me.
RevQuixo, will you be my neighbor?
Got your Strikers yet? Well though out, that one. Your last post was more entertaining.

Yes. I feel even more special now that you admit it. :P

I could rattle off a loooooooong list of other people on this board that make me feel the same way.

That sentence proves more then needs to be said.

You just happen to be the most vocal.

I find it hard to believe, out of all the people on this board, I have that much of a effect on you.
I am flattered.

I don't understand why we should move on just because KOF2K has been dumped... we never moved on when all 150 or so other games were dumped.... why now? Why not move on because the system is getting old, or because you want to see the series on different platforms... moving on becuase of a ROM dump seems silly. I buy software, I will continue to buy software for the Neo.. I will not stop just because I can download it for free... I doubt the majority of the board really thinks that the dumping of KOF2K means we should just run away from the Neo screaming... I don't get it,

Nick, when the neo-geo roms first starting getting emulated SNK started using their encryption method. That worked up until now. Basically, unless SNK can think of an imaginative way to protective their intellectual property then THAT is the reason to move away from MVS....although the fact that it is aging hardware is also a good reason.

True.
That is what I was trying to say earlier.
Why give the people responsible for this the satisfaction of knowing they had that much of a influence on the scene.(Being the assholes they are, I doubt they would care in the first place)
If that were the case, the neo scene would have closed shop years ago.
I know we are stronger as a all around community, to just be written off so easily.

I agree that even years after death there is still some form of life.
Neo could die right now IMO, the system just has so many good games as is.
What alot of others are saying (I also agreed to this to)
That we do not want to see a bunch of badly produced games just to provide quantity, because it kills the quality the system is known for.
Who puts shit on a pedistal?
Although KOF 2001 has me hooked at the vid's I have seen so far, the upcoming new year looks better then expected.

Well I downloaded four encrypted SNK games today as ROMs, MOTW (79MB), KOF99 (75MB), PI2 (52MB), and Ganryu (18MB). Played PI2, took a while to load but runs fine. Didn't have time to try the others yet . . .

The nicest thing is that when it came to answering the question of whether I owned the ROMs, I answered yes truthfully in each case. I have those games on MVS so I have no problem with downloading them.

But damn they did take a while, even with the T1 at my company and a top rate of about 75k/sec . . . those ROM files are MONSTROUS!

Oh and for good measure, I contributed $$ to the site hosting the ROMs, something I had been meaning to do for a while. As I've said many times, I have no problem with ROMs, just the leeches who sell them.
