This guy has reversed payment to several sellers today:

He is the co-webmaster of:
www.classicgaming.com/shmups

I know that many people from the US and abroad love the ease of paypal, but this is about to end from my standpoint, due to buyers like him.

UPDATE: I heard on the shmups site that he is in the hospital right now. This could explain a lot, and I hope he is ok.

Hey Carlson,

Sorry to hear about this. When somebody rips off a top bloke like yourself it really pisses me off.

sadly this guy neither appears to be on the electoral role or listed (i.e he's ex-directory)

There are a few posters here from that area of the country but I don't know if they'll know who this twat is.

If i do find anything out I'll mail you.

Good luck.

What's up with all of these turncoats, lately.

I mean, you'd think you could trust the webmaster of Shmups, right?

This "guy" charged back $170 for the following sega saturn CDs: Metal Slug, Real Bout Special + EMS shipping.

I sent the items promptly, and he left a positive feedback on 8/20/01

To say the least, as of today I am very familiar with paypal's chargeback policy. I absolutely love my international customers, but this guy has just ruined it for many. In addition, I will be making drakonian changes to my shipping policy both domestically and internationally as a result to protect myself from future fraud cases.

I emailed all of the people he purchased from, and have received many replys documenting the same situation.

This sucks...

Dude, you should go right back at PayPal with your mountain of proof and tell them that you had better get your money back. There are any number of law enforcement groups that will back you up. Do it.

Forgive my ignorance - but how does the charge back thing work on pay pal?

Are you still going to be accepting Bid Pay?

I speak for not only myself, but for many of us here, Calrson... what do you want us to do? How can we help you? As Tarma said, when a great guy such as yourself gets the shaft, well that just pisses all of us off big time. We're here for you if you need anything.

That's scary, how was he able to do that?, I thought you had to go through a process to get your money back though Paypal, is it because he is an international customer?

That's a terrible situation, Carlson. Don't you have any recourse on this issue, there must be something you can do to respond to the chargeback situation?

As for catboy2k1, if he really is a co-webmaster of shmups (and I love that shooter site), you should bring this to the attention of the other shmups webmaster and developers. This kind of thing is totally unacceptable and should be dealt with very harshly.

As for your warnings about PayPal, thanks and I think I'll be changing my policy too for future PayPal purchases. Seems like its not one of the safest ways to go these days . . .

I hope you are able to recover your money somehow.

I have a suggestion in consideration of your overseas customers: allow trusted buyers to use paypal. New buyers are hithheld from this route until you have established good trade. Don't punish the good guys.

Is it just me, or has the postal service also gotten bad over the past few months. I mean seriously bad. Every intl package I send takes forever! And every "investigation" into the whereabouts of the package brings up nothing until the package arrives. This has happened to me 3 times now, where either incoming or outgoing packages have been taking too long. Even when sent via express mail. Not right at all.

Looks like his UK email address is:

felix@thekat.fsnet.co.uk

I would also suggest contacting the co-webmaster of Shmups:

Name: Jose Carlos Perez Piñeiro
Nickname: Akira
E-mail address: tetsuoman@usa.net
ICQ UIN Nr.: 8041560

Some of the other "contributors" to Shmups might be able to get you better contact info for Simon, here:
http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/common_htm/contact.htm

If I were you I'd raise a huge stink with the Shmups people until you get some kind of satisfaction on this issue.

I agree! There seemed to be some problem with the mail services. I have 5 packages going to USA but none have been recieved yet. It is supposed to take only a week. A check with the post office review nothing. 3 incomming package has not arrive yet and 1 package from mhook send in oct, I received it only on last sat!

911 slowed mail down considerably but as of late
I have'nt had too many problems .When sending items overseas it might be a good idea to have the package insured. It serves as a tracker you can give the recipient so @ least they know YOU sent their parcel.
$100 is $1.25

Curiously enough, I bought a 15 pin male/female pc cable on eBay. I got delivery confirmation. The usps tracking told me it got here yesterday. But there was nothing in the post box! It didn't get here until today, a full day after they said it was here!

I was scared some neighbor kids walking home from school had stolen it. The neighbors are little shits.

At least it got here. Time to solder!

I have a Money Order sitting in limbo thanks to the PO's incompetence. I'm using
UPS and Fed Express to ship everything, including documentation from now on.

UPS and FEDEX cost too much for international customer like me. I prefer USPS piority express for more expensive item or USPA Piority mail for lower cost item.

BTW! Here is a question for seller - WHY DO YOU ALL INSIST ON SENDING BY AIRMAIL WHEN PIORITY 3-5DAYS FLAT RATE IS SO MUCH FASTER AND CHEAPER?!

For unsafe transaction, accept payment from paypal payment only. I got F$%K before on that too so for big purchase I sell, it is either Western Union or balance fund from PAYPAL.

Indonesian scammer especially like paypal and bidpay. They bid on expensive item and pay with stolen or do a charge back when they received the goods. In my first week of sale on ebay in 2001. I received more than 10 fraud card purchase thru paypal and ebay for my cellphone auction.

Well, believe it or not, we're told that Airmail is faster than flat rate shipping. Apparently this isn't the case, but when I shipped something to Europe 3 months ago, my local Post Office said that Airmail was the quickest way to ship something to Europe.

Well said. I've had a couple of transactions with Carlson and hope it continues in the future.

Did he reverse the payment once it had been completed ? Didn't think you could do that.
