MS4 has not been confirmed for MVS yet, just confirmed in development... I really hope we see more games, but alas... all good things must come to an end. As Fran says, I would rather see SNK die here than to release a bunch of crap and kill they neo geo's good name... Only time will tell,

No I srongly object to your opinion. Peopele still make Atari games right, Jaguar, genesis. Why burry NeoGeo when we all love it so much. I will purchase neogeo games as long as they are avaliable no matter who makes them. Of course I will respect the original snk games but I also respect the hardware platform and the spirity of gaming.

And what is the matter with this?
That's why game systems like the Jaguar still survive... the source code for these old, defunct systems is released and the "true fans" can release their own titles to keep their favorite system afloat.

Nobody says that there has to be "PACMAN 2000", or a third party to destroy your "precious" Metal Slug... but take a look at the screenshots of Soccer Kid... it actually looks like it can be an interesting action/platform game.

If I had the extra time on my hands, and if I knew how to program games, I would most certainly like to create my own Neo Geo titles long after the game system is no longer supported. And so wouldn't a LOT of other people out there as well... by saying that you DON'T want to see anymore games ensures that the system becomes a "collector's item", bringing the prices of EVERYTHING related to the Neo Geo up. At this point, we already have too many people trying to juice as much money as they can from this system... we don't need anymore cause to do so.

If anyone wants to continue making games, then by all means go for it. Since people like Fran won't purchase them, that means more for people like me who may actually give a game a real chance, regardless if it's from SNK or a thrid party publisher. <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

I doubt that any freelancer could come up with the man power and money needed to plan, develope and finally distribute/sell home grown Neo games, at least not on home cart.

If you take a look at the credits of <insert your fav Neo game here> you will notice that it takes more than a bunch of freaky programmers to code a good game, let alone to draw all those countless sketches of proposed characters. Then there's sprite and sound design and arrangement, the legal stuff, distribution issues, etc...

I'd rather keep on playing my original stuff instead of hoping for some mediocre do-gooder's homework to "save" the Neo from total oblivion.

Just my 0.02c.

Actually, from what I understand, the games that are coming out for these defunct systems are some of the best titles the consoles have evern seen. Were that the case for the Neo, more power to the developer.

Let's the Neo rest in peace...
SNK is gone...
It's time to rest...
It's important to know when to start, but it's even more important to know when to stop... <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0">

I actually had Soccer Kid for the 3DO... is the same company releasing it for the Jag, or has the source code become public domain or something <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> It looks the same as the 3DO version. The game is quirky, put playable, you use the soccer ball to bean baddies, and you can get it bouncing around and stuff... not too bad... Would I want it for the Neo... I'll tell you one thing, I wouldn't pay $299 for it <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

The system had a good run, if people want to continue home brew games that is one thing... but giving of the product licenses to third parties with no Neo experience (remember it is all assembly so it is important) and no game industry experience... well, that just makes it look like our favorite series may end up being destroyed.

I was thinking about this a few months ago, there are hardly any really bad Neo Geo games.. even the worst LOSJ is not half as bad as some Genesis, SNES, PSX, etc, etc games I have played! Really, there is hardly any bad games on the Neo... it is a system that you can buy any game you see and feel confident that you are going to enjoy the game atleast somewhat! Pressing out crap at the end will, in my eyes, ruin what was so special about the neo... end of my rant <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Something just come to an end. An END. That's all. Enjoy our games again, and again, and again... since no others will be released (KOF 2k1? Maybe, MS4? Maybe).
And, trust me, it's way better to remember SNK and what it gave us instead of hoping for new titles to be released from a different comapny (Capcom?!? BLAAAH! <IMG SRC="smilies/mad2.gif" border="0"> )

Everyone ,It's time for you to see something. Behold...the most amazing vaporware never created!!!>>>

fetch.dll

This is the Junk Slug, created by myself...

This is a running screen shot of "Metal Slug R">>>

You guys are probably like..."WTF?" Let me explain..For a period of about two months, myself, and another rabid Neo fan worked on the Metal Slug R project. It was a dream for us to creat our own MS game...OUR OWN SLUGS! The guy who started this thing had invested hundreds of hours into creating original sprites, weapons, backdrops, and animations. I first met him,(I won't post his name here since I don't have his permission)in the GameGo! chat room around May of last year. He told me what he was doing...and I offered to join him on the adventure...I gave him and example of my work, and we soon started the insanity.

-The Enemy Hind D slug, Jeep Slug, and the Junk Slug are all original, created by two obsessed Neo fans.

-The Hind D's vulcan gun had 16 frames of rotation animation, and scaled in and out of the Background.

-Jeep Slug opperated like a standard slug, but without any shells...grenades could be thrown from the drivers seat.

-The Junk Slug has the mounted vulcan cannon, as well as a "garbage drop" attack. (Back hatch opens up, and exploding trash cans roll out!)

The game went through many stages of programing, however, becuase of more pressing matters such as college, and graduate school for my partner...the mission was over before it even began ;( At one point the demo was even running on an MVS cab(without the ability to jump and shoot at the same time <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">)That was until the board blew up! I never made it public on these boards before, because we didnt know where it would go, and we wanted to get the first level done before it was made public. Well guys, its fun to dream...>>>

I wanna tell you all something about the Jaguar .When in 1996 atari laid it's books down they gave Telegames (www.telegames.com) the licence for six of their best upcoming games to relive the harts of the jag fans,a small company known as 4play refused to lay down the developpement of their opus Battlesphere (www.battlesphere.com) probably the best game in the jag collection, because of the dev of this game the fans kept their hopes up that more games would come Carl Forhan provided the answer he officially licenced the source codes of the games he released so unlike NeoGeoFreak wich provide illigal games songbird is legal. In the mean time other people are developping games for the jag including a Metal Slug clone..

Jesus...let the outside developers make games for the NEO...if it dies, the only people who are going to know it is us the hardcore gamers...do you think most of the next gen gamers know the NEO exists probably not, I respect the people who still make games for this dying soul of a system...NEO will only live on with us and no one else....so cares if bad games are made...

Yeah, I'm sure we will never see it though...I've lost contact with the other guy, and I am too busy myself. We had this crazy idea to make a "Mega Shotgun", that had to be manually locked and loaded after every shot with the "D" button. Oh well...>>>
